The glass bulb is filled with a liquid non-flammable. Operation is controlled by an air bubble. The size of the bubble is what controls the temperature that the system operates. The heat causes the liquid to expand compressing the air bubble. When the bubble is compressed the internal pressure increases inside the glass bulb causing the glass to break triggering the fire system. These glass bulbs are used in the fire sprinkler industry and are remarkably accurate and a simple operation. Until the late 1990’s there was really only one manufacturer that was based in Germany. I know TMI. Can’t help it I’m 75 years old.

Man I will never forget Cooper getting his fire suppression system insalled and needing it like the next work. Never skip the safety stuff and leave it for later because later may never come. Lets hope Steve nor Val ever find themselves needing to pull those handles but if they do they cant rest assured the welds wont break
