After they made it illegal the teams figured out that if you make a hard right turn from the apron on to the banking when you leave the pits the side skirts will similarly flare out, and they couldn't make it illegal since it happened on the track. With the new generation of car the skirts are now composite rather than steel so the trick doesn't work anymore. They just flex back into their original shape instead of staying flared out.

Illegally modifying cars for better performance is LITERALLY the spirit of nascar origins. Edit: I'm not suggesting a Death Race. I'm suggesting that the commission needs to listen to drivers demands for more downforce, implemented in a safe way. Alcohol prohibition led to the black market that created nascar, the same way strict regulations on stock cars only creates an environment where teams will cheat and find loopholes in dangerous ways.

@@andrewenriquez3138yes, but no. Downforce is some math to do with surface area and pitch of the wing multiplied by the speed of the car squared. Important part of this being the speed squared. I say keep all the regulations on engine transmission fuel and weight. Andy other modifications a team is smart enough to figure out over the other like something as simple as a small flared piece should be fair game. To me banning stuff like that is like a casino asking someone to leave cause they are smart enough to count cards:
@genxray951
@genxray951 Жыл бұрын
but that little modification was cutting tires and causing crashes, someone could have died, they didn't really need to make a rule though, they should have just started black flagging them into the pits to fix it. i hear what you are saying about casinos kicking out card counters, but I do wonder what would happen if the blackjack rules were even, aka dealer does not have to hit or stay on certain numbers, and can double down and split pairs and force the gamblers to double up their bets etc. if the dealer was also a good card counter and could use that skill it would be a whole different card game.

Who's mad? NASCAR? Nah buddy this is just normal rule writing. You get a team that finds a loophole. I assume by "they" and "their" you mean the NASCAR teams who followed suit. Well, "they" aren't the ones who make the rules. Best part of F1, if Ferrari doesn’t like it (or more likely can’t figure it out themselves) FIA bans it next year.

I think they should be able to make it with rubber and install it kinda like a mud flap. They will have the downforce benefit without damaging any tires.

Idk anything about nascar but I guess every car has strict body restrictions? Like I'm wondering why not just adjust a body kit to have a sideskirt made with a lip like but I'm guessing your not suppose to have custom body kit that way?

Yeah, NASCAR (National Association of STOCK Car Racing) has been dead since 1979 when the vehicles stopped being production vehicles (stock cars).

Today’s nascar is just disgusting. NASCAR has completely abandoned its fans & its history. Combined with their on the track product sucks nowadays. Hence why they’re suffering right now.

I lost all respect for Nascar. Because you're trying to be politically correct I have no respect for NASCAR just like I lost respect for the NFL that's because when I found out everything was predetermined in the NFL National fixed League

Let's see, auto racing was founded on competition to find out which car was fastest, including NASCAR in its infancy, then Bill France/Bill Jr. stepped up and added more and more limitations on the cars - as Smokey Yunick (lol) and like pioneered very effective modifications - which stole innovation from OEM manufacturers and excitement for the fans. Talk about being counterproductive, racing associations that place limitations on speed, this crude vesion of aerodynamic "spats" is the very foundation of racing - to make modifications, that provide an advantage. Well DUH!
