oh shit.. this is true. The sad part about AI is that it make real musician/producer give up on their craft by giving them a tool that makes thing look easy. There's a wrong way of thinking that great music is what needed to "make it", so people fall into the "AI trap" thinking it will make them the sound they need to reach their goal, thinking they're now on the same level as big major artist with an army of great producer, without realising that to "make it", they don't need that, but more an army of marketing genius. Also, not sure if they realize that Suno/Udio, as good as it is, only give you an equivalent of a 96khz mp3, sometime worst (even though Udio give a 320kps to download, doesn't mean it's that spectal quality)

Yeah, I'm not as opposed to AI as a lot of people are, but also I think that people get the cart before the horse. AI is kind of useful for coming up with some different ideas, almost like having an on-demand collaborator, but like my own ideas, I like maybe 1 in 50 of them, and once I've got that idea, I'm done with the AI portion and I start playing with it myself. Think of it as musical tarot cards instead of something to replace traditional production and composition techniques, and I think there's a bit of value. AI is not easy, or let's put it this way. It might be easy to start a kernel of something, but the more detailed you want to get shaping it, the worse it gets. There's a point where you just gotta say "okay, fuck this, let's go learn to play this and fix what I don't like." and that point should probably be VERY early in the process because it quickly gets to the point where it's easier to fix it in a DAW than trying to figure out a prompt to fix it. Also, I'm not as upset as many others that AI has been trained on copyrighted material. My brain also was trained on copyrighted material. The first song I learned to play 40+ years ago was "Smoke On The Water" by Deep Purple, like probably half of the guitarists that were learning in the time I was. I played MANY songs others had written before I tried writing my own.

TL;DR on the long comment you didn't read, but I paused to: Guy has already been playing and making music for ages (plays many instruments). Thinks AI can give him better acoustic sounds. He's only been using it for 3 days, but already has a 'full album" on a hybrid music genre. He says he's bored with music from the industry and believes AI will revolutionize things for small producers, flipping the bird to big industry titans. I think he's either naive or stupid. Probably both.

I can't really think of anything more boring than AI vocals, or AI music in general. I think creators are immensely overhyping AI music in general for KZbin fame. I just can not see the point, and I've never ever thought any AI generated music sounds interesting. And I have done research and have heard a lot of it. It can in the best case lead to something kind of credible that doesn't immediately fall on its face (compared to other commercial pop music that is!). Anyone believing in this kind of AI music stuff is one that sees music as a product. A product you want to make as quick as possible to have it streamed and sold for money. I have typed the same kind of idea under maybe hundreds of youtube video's about AI: commercially successful music, hit music, radio music, top spotify streams... have been largely AI generated for the past 25 or so years. Not literally, but it has been done by humans working exactly like an AI. The next iteration of the same idea. The same sound, the same kind of hook, the same sort of melodies and harmonies. It has been a formula since the late 90's and is only become more so. The next snack that the industry moguls can shove up your @ss. And oh yes, AI is perfectly capable of generating that. Because it IS a formula, and it already sounds flat an generic and not very human or emotional. I see music very differently, and you certainly do too. For me, the commercial aspect of music comes after all of the rest. Music is a fundamentally human, emotional, imperfect, unpredictable affair. For real musicians, the point of music is making it. Being involved, growing, creating... I believe in the soul. I see music as energy and communication. As an extension of thought, as a way to evoke the wordless. Another language. A getaway to a place without rules. A sample of the time and context it was created in, in combination with the world in the head of the creator. A touch of magic in the real world. Music lives through character, identity, risk, growth, inspiration, improvisation, flow, focus, love, hate, distress, joy... Music is the polar opposite of computer thinking. I am firmly convinced the AI music hype will blow over soon. It will by definition always sound flat and generic and like a formula, because that is how the technology works. AI can only function in the box you put it in. It is just advanced pattern recognition. There is nothing intelligent about AI, let alone sentient or emotional. AI music is just a gimmick. And even if AI music would sound very very good and 'indistinguishable from human music' (which it by definition never can), it still wouldn't ever play a big role, because humans want context. We need a story to connect to. Even from the standpoint of the listener, AI music is terminally boring. It can't take any cultural or sociological circumstances into account. It can't reference, it can't quote, it can't react to tendencies. It can't perform live, can't give interviews. It can't evolve, can't grow, can't take risk, can't make a album with an over arching emotional story. It can't make a insta post about how it made X or Y, it can't collaborate, it can't be inspired by anything... Another point I want to make, is that humans with all their human intelligence and deduction and cross examination and estimation skills can get much better at music than AI can ever be. There is NOTHING a music AI can do that a skilled and trained professional musician can't do way better and way more tastefully and touchingly. Maybe AI can get to 80% in one second. Humans can get to 101% in a few days. Or to 200% over a lifetime of dedication. AI might play some limited role in music. It could replace what was already a formula. The technology is able to generate somewhat credible music, that might serve its purpose quietly in the background without anyone paying real attention. The technology could be used in helpful composition and production tools, to complement human skill, knowledge and experience. But it will certainly never ever compromise real musicians and real music lovers. You know, some people listen to Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran, and in their taste for music want to just be part of the mass and never take risk or develop their taste. Fine. Some people listen to Ahex Twin, or Pink Floyd, or Defones, or Tupac or Miles Davis or J.S. Bach or...

To address the first point of addiction, I was using co-producer for a long time and could sit there for an hour or two generating loops and Udio kind of feels the same but personally, I was impressed with some of the songs that it generated for me. Used this 90s R&B song it made as a sample and that’s what I think it’ll be best for, eliminating the need to risk sampling and just use something like this. If anything it’ll actually make sample clearance cheaper and easier for people across-the-board when producers start flocking to AI for samples. I think if they’re going to raise the price and charge more, it has to be a really detailed feature set that works more often than not. Sidenote, there’s talk of an AI product that can generate entire TV shows/films and if they can figure that out the entire landscape of entertainment is gonna be really different in the next 10 15 years.

I love how we're all talking shit about this guy, yet we're the ones sitting around and watching some dude reading a reddit post on his youtube video like this is some high value entertainment. Who're the losers now?

I'm an AI musician / artist.... and you can laugh all you like, but I'll keep putting out great music. :)

Yes, "you" will definitely pull the lever on a slot machine filled with data on music that has already been composed, performed, recorded, mixed, mastered, published, advertised, covered etc. etc. And then I'm sure you're very proud of "your" creation, which speaks from the bottom of "your" heart and into which you've put so many minutes of your time. And when people ask you about you made your song, so they can make something similar, you'll just shrug and point to the "real" artist: the ghost in the shell.

Any music created by AI is objectively shit. It’s soulless.

@@IAmUnderscore That just doesn't make any sense. My music sounds great and people enjoy it. And if you heard my music without knowing I did it with AI, you would enjoy it too....but your bias has you "objectively" just hating on anything related to AI.....

@@Shyeep Music is about human expression, AI bros are too caught up in their shitty music theft algorithms to understand. Stop calling it “your” music. It’s embarrassing, you’re not a musician and I hope you one day realize what a piece of human garbage you are for promoting AI art. If I heard “your” “music” I would want to violently throw up. You have zero talent or skill. Have a great day though.
