Jeff Coffey was the lead singer for Chicago for a relatively short time after Peter Cetera and Jason Scheff. The drummer in the video was Tris Imboden, who played with both Chicago and Kenny Loggins. Michael Omartian (O-mar-tee-an), who was in the baseball cap in the video, is a legendary musician and record producer. Played keyboards on Steely Dan albums and produced Christopher Cross's multiple Grammy-winning debut album, among many others.

This rendition really kept the heritage of the original. Great instrumentals.

Jeff was one of the replacements for Peter Cetera with Chicago. Tris Imoden the drummer was also Chicago’s longtime (25 years) drummer. Tris was also the drummer on the original Kenny Loggins recoding. Both Jeff & Tris have performed live with Leonid & Friends on US tours. So 2 former members of Chicago who performed live with a Chicago cover band getting together to do a cover song of Kenny. I had to requests this.

And all us Boomers are singing along at the top of our non-singing lungs, but with the same passion! Mike Omartian = expert production and performance.

Woah, nice! Absolutely loved it! It's crazy... how fortuitous! Just last night I was listening to a KZbin clip from a concert in 2017 with Kenny Loggins, Michael McDonald, & David Foster. They did Heart To Heart, This Is It, & What A Fool Believes. Freaking legends! And Michael McDonald's voice, still one in a million. Kenny Loggins too & you could tell he felt just the same about Michael McDonald's voice as we do, lol! (KZbin doesn't like me posting links, but anyone can search for it if you want.) I remember growing up in the 70s/80s as a kid, & how many times "that voice" showed up on the radio, whether it was his song or not, lol. My ears would always go, "Hey! It's that guy again!" ("That guy" being Michael McDonald, I later learned.) Side note: Speaking of musical legends, I also just saw that Brian Wilson's (of The Beach Boys) beloved wife Melinda, passed away at the end of January. Don't know why I didn't know this already, I am a huge fan & advocate of Brian. But if you know Brian's story, you know why he calls her his "anchor" & "savior." It's amazing to me, given all he's been through in his life, that he has survived both of his brothers & his wife. Rest In Peace, Melinda. Stay strong, Brian. A heartfelt thankful shout out to all the musicians who have woven the threads of the tapestries that have shaped the background of our lives. And for the new musicians we discover together. Thanks Jeff!

Oh, I forgot where I read this, so I can’t verify the validity, especially given that Brian Wilson notoriously is not particularly fond of interviews, but someone once asked him if there was a song that he wished he’d wrote & his answer was “What A Fool Believes.”

@@lavenderbluemama953I’m having the same issue with the same entity. Sigh.
@lavenderbluemama9538 ай бұрын
@@jbs256 Yes, I've given up in that regard. And what an entity it is, lol. When I first read your reply, my mind went a whole different direction with "entity," probably because I spent a good part of last year reading all three lengthy books in Andrea Perron's very thorough autobiographical series. (Andrea Person is the oldest daughter & spokesperson of the Perron family, whose story was the inspiration for "The Conjuring" movie.) 😂

@@lavenderbluemama953 🤣 Let’s see if this goes through. I always figure it’s me. Then I see others have the issue. I like to comment. Sometimes long detailed ones. Better to say “voice of an angel” and move along. That’s not me.

@@lavenderbluemama953 I’ll press my luck. First reply is still there. I submitted to Jeff, Tori Holub. She’s just released in collaboration with Jim Wilkas a cover of We’ve Only Just Begun. It’s due mid April and I’m excited to see his evaluation. I’ve had quite a few ❤️ and one monster analysis. If you aren’t familiar give a search you will find. 🙏 Afraid to link it’s been a day.

Great reaction/analysis Jeff. As you know, I think, I’m a fan of great Homage Class reimagining/recreation of classic songs. This was an exceptional one. His voice was in the 90 percentile of accuracy. It was backed by wonderful musicians that brought this whole project home. Wonderful work folks! Go in blind while it’s playing and it’s the original. Now of course the next thing is original works. I see in the comments there’s a Chicago connection, well then. Next! I’m waiting for the right time to come along… Joe
