The fact that these two are ACTUALLY taking Intel Arc as a serious choice for a budget/low mid-range build is great. More competition in the GPU market!
@steph_on_yt
@steph_on_yt Жыл бұрын
Funny enough, I'm pretty sure it's because Arc (whether due to immature drivers or silicon bugs) benches WAAAYY higher in synthetics than in actual games. The A770 isn't far off from a 3070 in benchmarks, despite only being comparable to a 3060 in real-world gaming loads. Not really surprising due to the fact that ACM-G10 (same die as this A750) was initially planned to compete with the 3070 Ti.

The A750 at its discounted price is genuinely competitive these days. I have an A770, and yes I have had problems, but so far in my experience it's not nearly as bad as you would think based on the early coverage it got. Intel has improved drastically, and fast. I've been playing a lot of BG3 lately. Intel was the first to release a beta "Game On" driver with BG3 support, and it runs fantastically. I'm really glad Intel hasn't given up on Arc. Like I said though, I have had issues. It's not a huge deal to me as I enjoy tinkering with my computer. I've already submitted at least one bug report. Don't get me wrong, you won't get an absolutely problem free experience from AMD or Nvidia, but if you want to minimize that kind of thing, Intel probably isn't your best choice.
@Eric_Fate

They're becoming surprisingly good little cards now that the drivers are getting caught up. They're still heavily reliant on resizable BAR, but for their price point they are an incredible value.
@EvokerKing

im selling my arc a770 i like the performance but they never really fixed the drivers. my computer was broke for a month because i needed to use the beta drivers for some reason but couldnt get install them due to various issues with the computer just locking up a few seconds after signing in. intel support is some of the worst i have ever seen but it works now. now that i am on them, they arent compatible with anything. the directx feature level is broken by default but now it just says "Feature level: " its really annoying me and the performance doesnt even translate to games. i was seeing scores very high but when i went in games like mw2 the fps was lower than my previous rtx 3050 im probably going to buy a used 3080 ti or 3090

just a heads up the 6650 xt is wired for PCIE 4.0 x8, and neither the b450 nor the R5 5500 support pcie gen 4. AMD continues to use the PCI-Express 4.0 x8 bus interface with the RX 6650 XT to reduce board costs. By itself, Gen 4 x8 is plenty of bandwidth (comparable to Gen 3 x16), but when used on an older machine with PCIe Gen 3 slots, the card operates at Gen 3 x8 so with jay's original config the gpu is being bottlenecked by running pcie gen 3.0 x 8 by switching to the Arc A750 (which is wired for pcie 4.0 x16), it allows it to run at pcie gen 3.0 x 16 on the b450+5500 combo. 6650 xt likely wouldve won the benchmark otherwise if using pcie gen 4

I came here 3 weeks ago with my brother and his friend, and the friend surprised me and was going to buy a computer, even though he's normally a console guy. He came to me with his parts list, and I was able to trim the price WAY down (He was going AM4 yet using a x570). Combine that with the stupidly good deals (B450 and a amd 5600x3d) and we saved $600. He was still OK with the same budget, so he went from 3060ti to 4070. It was such a magical day, highly recommend the "choosing components in-store" experience.

There's one about 12 minutes from my home and I guess I take it for granted...but I have bought many, many parts and made quite a few systems over the years from there.

@@hip_check Thats awesome! I would love to have one near me, and personally I would rather support them over Amazon or Newegg (too many bad experiences with Newegg) but unfortunately the closest Microcenter to me is 5+ hours away. 😫

Hope you guys enjoyed Indianapolis and had lunch at Ale Emporium right next door! Brought the kids down to the new store shortly after it opened, ended up walking out with an all new budget $550 build, sold it 2 days later for $675!

I am not sure if it was part of the script or not, but honestly, it was really good to see some of the comments toward Austin about "You care more about winning than the people that would get these systems huh" and such. Austin is such in the business of entertainment-focused "broke vs pro" videos that are pumped out that the love of PC building has gotten lost. This felt more like a sponsored obligation from Austin while it seemed more like an opportunity from Jay. The two personalities really showed in this video. Shout to Jay for keeping the spirit alive and maintaining integrity.

I know you and Austin have been sponsored by micro center for a long while, have either of you reviewed their build service by chance? Would love to see like 3 different price points of builds (picking parts) and see how they do on the build itself on average. Would they put more effort into the more expensive one than the cheap one? Hmmm

Hey now, the Cooler-master-master-master-maker-maker-box-5000-master-maker-maker-box (Q300L) is a pretty solid case, I made a budget build that I've now put a 4070 in and don't feel the need to upgrade the case for any upgrades anytime soon. It is a solid microATX option. Top mounting a radiator is impossible with ram clearance though, only downside. I'm glad it was shown in the build today.
