I got a tattoo three years ago of wrestling head gear on my right shoulder blade, mainly as a memorable to my father who coached me for 14 years in wrestling and lost his battle against cancer right before the day of my birthday... Great man and I figured to remember him for the sport and the only man I've ever loved who influenced me to go past my limits and always push forward

If you concentrate on your kick, flutter kick your feet like a small motor, it will help keep your lower half from sinking so much. This will help with drag. It will also take some of the stress off your upper body on pulling you through the water. You have two machines to use in the water. Your upper body (shoulders, lats and hands) and lower body (thighs and feet) Use both.

Hey Steve! I used to be a competitive swimmer and one thing my coaches would always tell me is with every stroke for freestyle, you wanna elongate your body, like you're perpetually reaching for the other side of the pool. As far as forearm tattoos, maybe a trident or a big samoan fish hook done by bone tapping haha. Cheers!

Important: Steve, as you know I'm 6', 210 lbs, age 47, just as muscular as you. I was a Lifeguard for 7 years, surfer, and still swim year round; you gotta stop with the notion that you cannot swim because you do not float. The reason you struggle floating is because you do not know how to swim. Get it? Your stroke is no bueno and THAT stroke is THE reason you struggle. Steve, when you breathe as a swimmer, your are ONLY supposed to rotate your HEAD from the NECK UP. You? You are rotating your ENTIRE body which DESTROYS your form, your momentum. At exactly 3:07 on this video YOU have BOTH EYES looking up at the SKY...HORRIBLE FORM!!! ONE eye stays IN the water! You also are inhaling with your mouth pointed up to the SKY...wrong! Your chin is supposed to be digging down/back towards your SHOULDER, your mouth should JUST be out of the water and ONE EYE remains IN the water (if you're breathing to your left then your right eye stays in the H20). Your knee caps should remain facing the bottom of the pool, your johnson should too (not the side of the pool). In short dude, you are wayyyyy off on your form, killing momentum which makes you struggle. I am 99% of you in fitness, twice your age, and can swim 72 laps in a pool like it is Shark Week...as I have Swimming Form. See here: instagram.com/kp1790/

sad to hear that you have a pulging desc Steve. Yet, it is great to hear that it is affecting your split and workouts. Strengthen that core of yours. Good luck.
@PeskyEmu7 жыл бұрын
Steve your legs aren't sinking because they are too heavy, they are sinking because they are seperated and you are bending at the knee. Lock the knees out, point the toes and kick from the hips, there should be no bending at the knee. Your glutes and heels should be just breaking the surface, this will reduce drag and make you more bouyant. Practice with your hands up against the wall and kicking for 10 sets of 60 seconds. If you are kicking properly you should be able to keep yourself afloat and horizontal in the water.
@yuhaolu65957 жыл бұрын
I am training for my tri as well. With a lifting background, it is hard for you to learn how to be efficient under water!! I do notice your arm recovery is a bit too aggressive. Do a tons (literally) of fingertip drag drills. Relax your arm above water, be lazy. That drill has helped me a lot recently. Also twice a week swimming is way too less Steve. Try swim everyday, even 30mins. You have to build that muscle memory. It takes reps after reps after reps just like how you will do it in the gym. Keep up with the good work man!

How you shave arms, legs and rest body?
@andreasvlahakis327 жыл бұрын
It has nothing to do with muscles making you sink... I and many people with a lot of muscle have no problem. I can see your problem even in this slow motion clip... you need to use your legs a lot more, new swimmers tend to just pull with their arms and their legs are neglected and sink which brings your whole body down. Work on having your arms in front motionless, and just kick with your legs, then slowly bring in your arm movement. Also think about constantly keeping your hips at water level, slightly concave lower abdomen to keep hips up.
