Continental Africa was populated, not the islands out in the Atlantic. Neither the Azores, Cape Verde, Canaries, St. Helena, Reunion had any indigenous populations. They were colonized by Europeans. Africans weren’t capable nor motivated to explore outside coastal waters. That’s why Europeans connected the Western Hemisphere with the rest of the world and became colonial powers all over the world, not Africans nor Asians. The black and later mulatto populations that came later were the result of the slave trade between African tribal chiefs, Arab slavers, and trans-Atlantic slave shippers.
@kofiarthur3749

@@jameshepburn4631 that's not true...most or all Islands surrounding Africa were inhabited by Africans. Europeans and Arabs seizedostnof the islands because black population on the Islands were small. Arabs tried to steal Zanziba and Lamars Island from the Swahilis saying it was theirs. They forgot that when they arrived at Islands the black people there were their middle men to hp them trade between Arab world and the main continent. Same happens in Madagascar, Mauritius ect. First of all I'm tired of people saying we were uninhabited, thats not true. Italians and Portuguese people dragged African slaves, raped them and had babies this making us Cape Verdeans our name!! We are here and people need to start recognizing us as Cape Verdean, we are mixed with almost everything. Do more research

I am happy that you said that. I am American, but I’ve traveled a lot in my life. I am learning about this place because I think I want to live there. I live in the north of the USA. We in the north fought to free the slaves. 450,000 white men fought and died to end African slavery in America, including 3 of my ancestors. This place appears to be absolutely amazing. After several years of fighting in American wars, I wish to live somewhere quite and rural with fertile land to grow food and flowers. Do you recommend Fogo, or one of the smaller islands near it? I was thinking Brava, because I like the mountains and no tourist beaches… I like the rainforest type of climate, as opposed too the more desert areas of CV. Also, I should learn Portuguese, correct? I currently speak English, German, Dutch, Spanish, and some French. Is this sufficient or should I perfect Portuguese? Thank you sincerely in advance. I am Jerad. 😌

You shouldn't believe that every clip in a video is actually from where they want you to believe it is. Or would it be possible for Mozambique and Cape Verde to both have the exact same sandy beach and be described exactly the same? kzbin.info/www/bejne/q524coyXl9SEkKM kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZm0ioJ9Z7d3o5I and kzbin.info/www/bejne/q524coyXl9SEkKM kzbin.info/www/bejne/hZm0ioJ9Z7d3o5I These video clips can be about anything, so don't take them too seriously. The most important thing for the creator is to get each of his introduction videos as easily as possible by sitting at his desk and collecting clips from some stock of video clips, as long as they look somewhat believable.

@@silveriorebelo2920 Cabo Verde has some of the best fishing grounds in the World . Our Tuna is exquisite and some of the best in the world. That’s why we sell some of our waters to the Asian countries, such as China, Japan, ect . So west Africans went there to fish. All the Portuguese did was put a flag down.

Interesting -so many "Cape Verdeans" in the USA always separated themselves from Cape Verde and their African roots- they called themselves Portuguese and were offended if you called them Black- it wasn't until I met a real Portuguese family from Lisbon (Blonde and blue eyed that I learned that the language spoken by them was creole and that they were from Cape Verde not Portugal. About twenty years after that the younger generation started calling themselves Cape Verdean.

Do you know what creole means? a language formed by the integration of two different languages over a period of time and so distinct that it becomes a new language on its own. Also, I cant speak for an individual but even today, most africans with melanated skin as rich as our soils and hair as coily as the shrubs of the savanna still disdain the term black. It was a connotation of the colonialists, and even though some tried to reclaim it, not everyone likes it. For we are not a color, we are a culture, a heritage, a community. That is why we are AFRICAN, not black. (just because some people are okay with it, doesnt mean all of us are.) and if those two are your main justification for the argument, please research further, respectfully.

@@joicekwarteng7497 well most of y'all who is commenting are really old. those old Cape Verdeans you talked to, had Portuguese citizenship. Cape Verde went from colony, to a province, now an independent country. did you even watch the video. modern Cape Verdean we are really proud of our nation, we don't claim anything else beside Cape Verdean.

@@esmaelhbr-Yes true, some may look Arabic, Indian, and European. Like how many do you think, 1 or 2 maybe?? Okay, only kidding. I know it is a lot more then that but let's face the facts. The vast majority of Cape Verdeans, perhaps somewhere around 80%-90% are bi-racial, a blend of black African and white Portuguese, nothing more and nothing less. Why do you want to make it seem as if CV is some sort of racial melting pot, when everyone knows that if you open the lid, and look inside, there are only two ingredients found in the pot.
