You want heavy ? The Small Print, Psycho, The Handler, Reapers, Stockholm Syndrome, New Born, Assassin, Micro Cuts, Citizen Erased, Hyper Music, Dead Star, The Groove, Fury, Hysteria, Unnatural Selection, MK Ultra, Supermassive Black Hole, Map of the Problematique, Supremacy, Knights of Cydonia, Plug in Baby, Execution Commentary, Space Dementia, Survival. Whatever you get recommended, try and watch live versions. This possibly one the heaviest things they have recorded, but if anything it's more in line with what they are like live, which hasn't always been that well captured on studio recordings. The mixing on this is fantastic, even the snare is low end. Assassin (Live at the Mayan) is one of my favourites. Break It To me (Simulation Theory Film) Showbiz (Reading 2017)
@jeffsmith4412 жыл бұрын
See a lot reactors shocked by them bringing the heavy, but it's actually not new for them. Admittedly their new music has been a bit more experimental with digital sounds or rock opera feels. Funny enough, their radio singles were always my least favorite songs on the album but seem to be chosen because they appeal to more audiences. I always loved their classical styling over aggressive rock riffs/hooks.

Muse is good at defying expectations musically without each album and song in the directions it can go in with the experimental sounds. This song is a great example of that. This is essentially the heaviest Muse song so far with the guitar effects and riffs along with the drums to a degree. Of course heavy is relative in music to a degree also, but I feel this song mixes their earlier sounds of Origin of Symmetry, hint of Absolution, but more Drones as it was a heavier sounding album to me and then the experimental electronic sounds of 2nd Law. I feel we are in for a treat with the rest of the album.
@michaeltunnicliffe49352 жыл бұрын
Muse has some reasonably heavy stuff and that's credit to their creativity and their experimentation. I wish I could direct you to a certain album, but their heavy songs are dispersed all over the place. A few of their heaviest songs are definitely Citizen Erased from Origin of Symmetry, Dead Star from the Dead Star EP, Stockholm Syndrome from Absolution, Assassin from Black Holes and Revelations and Reapers from Drones. To be honest, heavy or not, you really can't go wrong with their first 3 albums.

Muse seem to have a central sound, which they supplement with different genres to hook new fans to their brand. I started listening with Drones (specifically Reapers) but I know people who were hooked with Starlight, Dig Down and other slight outliers from their style.
@Keepnhonest2 жыл бұрын
It seems most folk completely miss the relevance behind the lyrics. The track has another title; 'Living Vicariously', & may be better described by a phrase 'Psychological Warfare' - from the song itself. It's about a world-wide psychological battle between a few old men (dude in a wheel chair) & the mindless pawns (represented by those under his control). So the one singing the words is standing firm; outside the visuals - getting stronger by refusing to 'stand down', refusing to surrender to the systemic game of manipulation by the slave-master over the masses of hapless slaves. A great song with incredibly intelligent lyrics by a most relevant band indeed.

Muse became my favorite band about 5 years ago, I just randomly started listening to some of their greatest hits and the one thing I can say about being a new Muse fan, is that they have an expansive pallet of taste and style. Most people who don't dig a lot of their more experimental stuff most likely have a pretty shallow palette for music because Muse has never really changed. They have only tried anything and everything that they thought they wanted to do. And that's why I respect them because they do it all so well. I also think we need more rock bands with more uplifting or insightful lyrics. Everything is so dark now, it wears on you listening to dark shit Non-Stop. Long live MUSE!
