For anyone that hasn't purchased Rock Band 4, but plans to (especially now with the reissue of a new guitar controller) it's a good idea to do it now. $10 is a fantastic price. RB4 has been out for almost 8 years now. That's a long time for a game like this. The music in the game is licensed. Once their license expires and if they don't renew it they have to take the game off the digital stores. It'd just take one song liscense to expire for the whole game to be delisted. Harmonix has ended support for the game and has moved on to Fortnite Festival. A lot of DLC songs have slowly disappeared from the Rock Band store and its not looking like they are re licensing them. So, also purchase any DLC songs you like before they are gone.

Yeah, a great deal. I bought the disc/guitar bundle at launch ($79.99! From Amazon, but I bought the digital version when they added the story element to it. And renamed it Rock Band 4 Rivals.

There is a 360/PC version, but the price is insane, and it's currently out of stock now anyway. You can buy an old Rock Band or Guitar Hero guitar used for about half the price.

Just started playing with the riffmaster on pc, should I leave the dongle in and have it flashing all day? Or take it out each time im done for the day? Any harm on leaving it on? or will swapping it in and out cause ore wear and tear?

Clone Hero is just as good and it's free. There are also about 1000x more songs available for it, along with every song ever available for every Rock Band/Guitar Hero game.

I was a big fan of all the rhythm games in the past. From Guitar Hero to Rock Band I bought everything I could get. Sadly many years ago I sold off all I had as I wasn't using it all and it was taking too much space. Now recently I've been thinking about getting back into it. Rocksmith and a real guitar have been on my radar for a while now but even that is complicated. I believe the Xbox 360 version plays on the Series consoles so I'm going to investigate that and a cheap entry level guitar. From my investigations latency is a problem due to no dedicated audio out on the series consoles so a HDMI splitter is needed (hence the complicated part lol).

So, with Guitar Hero and Rock Band, I could slay back in the CRT days. However, the moment I got an HDTV, I was unable to land anything really... and I guess that's due to the higher lag of flat panels... I stopped playing all together due to the games becoming unplayable overnight for me. Is the lag issue a non-issue by now? Watching the footage, it's hard to tell. It looked like you were whiffing a lot on Playstation but landing most on PC. What's your experience lag-wise?

I play GH and Rock band on an 85in Sony / Xbox 360 and have no issues. Just have to run the calibration and works fine.

Have you received the Xbox version of this guitar yet? I am curious if it works differently for Clone Hero. The Whammy bar not working for the PS5 one isn't a deal breaker for me but I would prefer the Xbox version because I have an Xbox Series S and I am also curious about getting into Clone Hero plus using this for Fortnite Festival (their version of Rock Band).

They really dropped the ball by not making the instruments available. Fortunately my favorite part is the singing, but I sure would love to have drums and guitar. Glad this was released, though at the time I looked, they are not in stock and prices are already scalper prices.

Still have my 360 guitar controllers. I tried to look for a Playstation one, and you are right the prices were too high. I ended up just buying some Xbox titles I didn't buy at release.

My Xbox version just shipped, havent been able to test it, but you should have the same experience with the controller you have with the PlayStation controller. They want you to use the Xbox to Windows PC Adapter, it's a USB Dongle with an xbox sync button. It will treat it like an xbox controller on an xbox that way and the whammy should work then.

@@ritualdelo Sony has an official Dualshock 4 to PC adapter, I have a hard time finding it so it must be discontinued or something idk .... Microsoft has an official Xbox to PC Adapter. Much easier to find . Best Buy and Microsoft Store are usually the easiest places to find them, they also sell a Controller that comes bundled with the adapter

A new supply of Rock Band 4 compatible guitars is a great thing, but at $130 USD, that's way too expensive IMO. You have to keep in mind that the Rock Band guitar was only $79.99, and that INCLUDED the $50 copy of Rock Band 4 PS4. I'm glad that I bought two extra new RB4 guitar bundles, after the launch, for $45 each, on closeout. Those guitars work great. I also have the old PS3 wireless RB3 guitars w/dongles that also work great with RB4 on the PS4/PS5.

I hated to see Harmonix leave Rock Band 4 behind, and move to a F2P FPS. I will say that Harmonix has been absolutely epic with their support of getting older DLC and disc songs moved to newer versions of Rock Band. I believe that is a big part (along with not requiring a subscription based, live game) that helped keep Rock Band going, after Guitar Hero called it quits. I've been able to get 99.9% of my 600+ Rock Bands songs, all the way from Rock Band 1 through to Rock Band 4, along with many other stand alone disc games, such as LEGO Rock Band, the Classic Packs, and even the songs from Rock Band Blitz!. Which in itself, allowed you to import ALL of your previous Rock Band songs I to that. I always wished we could have gotten a remaster of that for the PS4 or PS5. Anywayu, I just wanted to say that Harmonix are good people. I was having some issues getting a couple songs to import, when everything was still migrating to PS4, and they actually fixed the links to those specific song DLCs in a day. So, until Rock Band 5... And I do think this will all come back again someday. I still play RB4 from time to time, but I have been seeing more and more people on Twitter, posting how they are missing RB and GH.

So like, this is a good product, I have one myself. But I bought it got clone hero. The XBOX version does NOT WORK on PC out of box. my work around is using a Brook xbox and ps5 adapter, to have it work on PC. I hope PDP does a firmware update and makes it work. Works for PS5, does not for XBOX, isn't that the Microsoft Brand? like a computer brand? Kind of a joke.

@@Madlittlepixel To be fair he's got a point, and it's not from a oh it's a plastic guitar and you need to learn how to play for real kind of jibe. No, it's actually really fun game that adds a lot more to the fun aspect of playing the rhythm based game, because while you do get to play with a real guitar and essentially play real music, it's still just a game that is more advanced than the basic 5 button mashers. Instead you have strings to mash on, and the added complexity jsut comes from playing each string in several different ways. Rocksmith 2014 plays almost exactly like Rockband/Guitar hero etc, looks a lot like it too. I play them all, they're fun. It's not like I'm going to be picking up the 'real' guitar afterwards and go out and join a band because I got too good at playing the game. lol
