Great video John. I replaced my PCV as well a few months ago. Still got that start up smoke. Didn't know this existed. Might have to give it a try.

If it continues to smoke, replace valve stem seals. What’s been more common is that the valve stem guides are out of round. I’ve measured 3.81mm of tolerance when checking valve clearances and the specified value is .80mm this is on a 40k mile Tiguan. As a VW tech I’m just saying, it ends up being a cylinder head replacement 9 times out of 10

They are similar yes, u can attach a catch can this pcv as well

@@johnogden1020 no idea - I have heard people still having the same smoking issues on 23 and 24 gli. It is a different pcv unit than like 19 - 22 though. time will tell how good it is.

2024 W/ 35,000Km still have start-up smoke and have basically since 10,000km or so. Found it got more obvious after doing exhaust but still smoked before too

@Mk7John its a lot to explain but I'll try to make it short. The pistons get carbon build up around the top and bottom rings usually. Unless you have a completely new rebuild engine you might have oil passing your rings when hot. This causes you to have excessive smoke on start up. It's just from experience. Try it out. It won't hurt the car. Just don't do it wrong
