I want to reiterate what I've said on many ebike channels before. PLEASE BE BEYOND CAREFUL ON THOSE EBIKES! You can bet the govt is just waiting till something catastrophic happens to someone or pisses enough drivers off to make headlines about high speed ebikes being dangerous and then you can be assured they will slowly impose tax, impose restrictions, require registration, insurance and inspection of ALL ebikes in the country. The faster ebikes get over 28mph, the more leverage you make for their argument. You really have hybrid ebikes that are more escooter than ebike, but you can cause ALL ebike owners the rath of governmental oversight if you're not careful riding on the streets. And you can bet that whatever laws come out of California will eventually spread to the rest of the country. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS but still enjoy riding. Just sayin'
@seandepagnier2 жыл бұрын
28mph is already too fast. 15mph is the highest reasonable limit for something not registered.
@dbfcrell83002 жыл бұрын
@@seandepagnier 28 mph is the legal speed limit for class 3 ebikes in most US cities and towns, so it's going over that speed that will really be on trial when/if someone gets in a bad accident that makes viral headlines. Everyone who rides small electrics in this country needs to understand this potential pathway to never ending govt oversight.
@Footwearquality2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I have a class 3 right now and I am strongly considering upgrading (I also live in LA, like these guys), but at those speeds you can't be bombing down sidewalks like that clown was at 5:35.

@@seandepagnier I disagree, in an urban environment, sometimes you need that extra speed and power to get out of harm's way if there's traffic involved. As long as the much needed weight of e bike is at least around 200lbs. Reason is the fact any bike going over 50mph will take off in the air of any bump being too light of frame( reasons scooters and mopeds heavy of high speeds) besides the ramping off bumps or dips, the potholes can ruin the rims if not more then 3 inches. The speed is adding up to the energy momentum and potholes too take bike flying off course , if not a very bumpy grind of impact points. You eould have to always ease down of encountering terrain if e bike around 100.lbs or lighter along with jus 2 inch wide wheels. The higher the speed, the more durable bike and parts need to be along with brake systems.

@@sleepingbearffg5008 Yes, I've been studying on KZbin DIY builds of many as I notice myself of the e bike I have of 40mph speed on my light bike is not practical , especially with brake systems. E bike tech been around many decades of them steam engine bikes besides gas powered bikes as reason why Motorcycle came to be due to these equations of the need to be more durable of high speeds. 7:35 Bad example! One of the reasons so many people are negative about bikes in general is just this. E-bikes are coming under more and more scrutiny, so continuing to ride as if it's ok to run stop signs only gives those that want more regulation greater leverage when regulation is being demanded. Where I live we've recently lost the privilege of riding on our beach trail mostly because the cycling public could not bring themselves to abide by existing law that allowed for use that provided all a safe opportunity to enjoy. The great attraction of E-bikes to me is the ability to travel freely and enjoy that. "You don't know what you got 'til it's gone".
