His touch around the rim is unreal. Yeah his dunks are awe inspiring. But the way he can spin away from a defender, float through the air and just lay it in over two dudes doing their damnedest to get in his way...that shit is just super human. The more he plays the better shape he gets into. If the refs called half the fouls they now let go, he'd be shooting 20 foul shots per game. A lot of people are giving the Pelicans little respect. They have to win in the post season to earn any respect. But I don't think many teams want to face N.O. in the playoffs either.

Absolutely, I don't know if we've ever seen a guy that can explode to the basket and then finish with the soft touch like that. And the scary thing is that he's not even at top condition yet. If he stays disciplined he will put the Pelicans on the map, there's no one stopping him

Unfortunately there’s a lot of teams that are fine with facing the Pels in the playoffs but it’s not because the Pels lack talent or even depth. They have an insane one-two punch on the starting roster as well as amazing developing talent like Dyson Daniels, Jordan Hawkins, Jose Alvarado, Herb Jones, and Trey Murphy. It’s their coaching that’s so putrid. As a Pels fan I find myself pulling my hair out in far too many games just from absolutely insane plays being drawn up. Like it actually seems like Willie Green is just a kid playing 2K so much what he’s drawing up is that bad. If they can get some more competent coaching and a gritty, old-fashioned style center then they can actually go toe to toe with anyone in the west in the playoffs.

Great analysis 👍 I think what makes Zion a unique force is if you put a wing on him to match his speed he is way too strong he can just rip through like they don’t exist but if you match his strength to put a big man they normally aren’t agile enough to keep up with his burst . The other thing I noticed is at first I think he is kind of like Giannis who can’t shoot at all and always live in paint but when you deep dive into their game they actually operate very differently Giannis is strong but he is not sheer strength strong he is at best when he can build a head of steam that’s why he is probably the most dominant transition player but sometimes struggle against great half court defense . Zion is just heavier 😅 when he post up he just looks more fluid and those hops off the ground or second jump the touch around the rim he just looks different especially those left handed super high layup (?) I don’t even know how to quantify that he is kind of like Lebron but when you watch tapes you realize no they aren’t the same it’s crazy to say that because Bron is a freak athlete but in terms of post up situation and the first step I think Zion actually has the edge . The only thing held him back is we don’t know if he has the motor the desire to be great he has the talent to be an MVP or even best player in the world but does he want to ? That’s the question.

I'm not sure I'd agree with that. If you mean more ways of finishing around the rim, sure. Playmaking, yes. But shooting or D is expecting that he would become something that he really doesn't seem to have any potential or desire to work on. You wouldn't ask Shaq for that (except FTs heheh)

A player who does not take care of his body probably is not taking care of his game. The only thing about this season that gives reason for hope is his injury status. I still wouldn't bet on him reaching his potential.
@pierceliu9914
@pierceliu9914 3 ай бұрын
@@andredornelles8014 wouldn’t say he doesn’t have potential on defense. He was one of the best POA defender at Duke and a very sneaky help defender as well. The problem with his defense rn is one, he’s a little lazy, but that’s ok, star players all take rest defensively. But just don’t give up cuts easily or not even trying, which I think he did better lately. The bigger problem tho is he’s jumping on every contest, even giving people driving lanes just to try to block their shots. But that can definitely improve with more playing time. So I can see him being an average defender at the very least. And for the shooting part, maybe it’s a little too much to ask for him to ever become a legit jump shooter with his body type. But his shooting form actually looks pretty solid, and even though the sample size is small, you can see a lot of promise from his few 3pt and midrange attempts. The reason why he’s not taking them often is he’s not consistent or confident enough to shoot it instead of driving in for a layup that has a way high efficiency. But we all kno the driving lane is not open all the time and especially in the playoffs teams would make things the most uncomfortable for you. So I’m not asking him to implement shooting as one of his primary ways to score, but just being a respectable catch and shoot player would unleash so much for both him and Bi. I don’t think it’s not possible we see guys like Randle and OG who were also considered big forwards who couldn’t shoot when they came out of college and were eventually able to develop a respectable jumper

I expect the push off / bump cheat codes to soon be elininated and called as offensive fouls. Way too many players depend on them.

Glad to see someone giving Zion his flowers. I really hope Zion can stay healthy and watch his weight. He is really fun to watch. If he can develop a jumper too then he'd be super scary.

I get the sense that he's picking and choosing when to use that explosiveness. As his conditioning and weight improve I could see him really dominating in a season or two. Just needs to stay healthy which he's doing by not going all out all the time with his energy.

This is what Zion should be from the start of his career in NBA, and I was right that Zion and Chuck really had a common for being a player with a tenacity of Forward.

The coaching is excellent getting Zion high and Low screens to top it off ghost screens. The Coaching is creating space playing to Zion's strength his speed dribble and jumping ability he now operates in confidence playing bully ball any direction he go in. And also this guy is controlled minded and intelligent it's all coming together.

I haven't followed the Pels, I didn't realize he is playing this well. I hope he brings it to the playoffs, the Pels are a talented team, this is there time to make a move. That would be fun to watch. I will say, the west playoffs are going to be tough this year, several teams are very competitive that were not expected to be there pre-season.

It's pretty clear that he played at maybe 85% on purpose to keep himself healthy (which is his #1 issue). Now, he's beginning to gear up for the playoffs so he's starting to play harder. He says he's 93% now. If he can play at 100% throughout the playoffs without injury, watch out for the Pels. West conf finals confirmed.

As of right now he is definitely back but after 5 years in the league he is kind of still a one trick pony and it will be interesting to watch whether he can stay healthy long enough to actually work on and imrove his game
@treyanteblackston2846
@treyanteblackston2846 3 ай бұрын
Giannis is also a one trick pony, you don’t see that stopping him. If you’re dominate at one thing and no one can stop you then it’s fine. Would it be nice if he became more well rounded? Yes. But that doesn’t matter when you’re so dominant at doing what you do best
@tobsixi6702
@tobsixi6702 3 ай бұрын
@@treyanteblackston2846 saying Giannis is just a one trick pony is actually not true... obviously they are all at their best when they can bulldoze to the rim one possession after another, but Giannis has at least some form of an outside game to fall back on if everything else fails, whereas Zion has basically no offensive game outside of 12 feet from the basket 😅

Playmaking and assists have A LOT to do with teammates understanding where to be in relation to the ballhandler. The Pels, as a team, are getting better because of Zion, and Zion is getting better because of his teammates. They're gonna be a scary opponent in the playoffs. Not sure if they can win 4 series in a row but it's gonna be fun regardless.
