It's worth clarifying, since this is a common misconception: Cockurin's powers have nothing to do with that painting. He was just being dramatic to no one in that moment.

1:25 Heres's the thing is about Japanese, one of the most important parts on how you convey the meaning of words is exactly *the way* you say them, rather than what is being said specifically, as it carries a lot of nuance, since japanese people are, in general, not very talkative. Originally, Jotaro says "yakamashi", which just means noisy, but not only is he yelling it, he's also not even referring to his mother the usual way like "oka-san" or the like, he just says "onna", which means woman. By japanese standards, that's EXTREMELY rude and inappropriate, given how much they care about respect and hierarchy, so I believe it's fair to equate the way he's talking to straight up insulting her in English.
@mcreena6 ай бұрын
Jotaro is 17 years old, believe it or not! And his personality is based off of the classic "delinquent" Japanese stereotype, which is similar to the "bad boy" American stereotype, who don't obey authority and girls swoon over. He's also considered sort of "tsundere", because while he acts like a tough guy who doesn't give a shit, he actually cares a lot for his family and friends. You'll definitely see the more heroic Joestar side of him come out later on in the series. As for stands, you're either born with the ability to have a stand or you're not. Anyone can have them, it's not a Joestar-specific thing. You're born with the ability to have a stand, but your stand has to manifest in order for you to use it. Stands can manifest for a number of reasons, and at any age. However, you need to have a strong enough "fighting spirit" when your stand manifests, or your stand can become a detriment to your health and hurt the user. As for the Joestars, they didn't have manifested stands until Dio himself obtained a stand. Dio obtaining a stand while having Johnathan's body triggered the manifestation of a stand in every single living Joestar. They never really explain why, just that that's what happened and why Jotaro's stand suddenly manifested.

The acception to the joestar awakening is Joseph, who was confirmed to have hermit purple in part 2.
@mcreena6 ай бұрын
@@BrandonLung In the Stardust Crusader's manga, Joseph says he only manifested Hermit Purple a year before part 3 starts. Joseph having hermit purple in part 2 is a retcon by Araki and it's not exactly clear if Araki meant Joseph had it manifested or not. Since Hermit Purple is never seen, and Araki himself doesn't say Joseph uses it, just that it could theoretically be seen by another stand user when Joseph uses hamon, most people assume that Joseph never gained the actual use of his stand until part 3, when he says he did. It's the difference between having a stand and manifesting a stand. All stand users have their stands from the moment of birth. It's just when they manifest it that's different.
@BrandonLung6 ай бұрын
@@mcreena Even though it is a retcon, Jotaro was stated that if he went back in time he would be able to see Josef's stand. If it wasn't manifested, Jotaro shouldn't be able to see it. Correct me if i'm wrong though.
@mcreena6 ай бұрын
@@BrandonLung So stands can be activated/seen even though they're not manifested yet. A great in-canon example of this is Giorno. His stand doesn't manifest until he's a teenager, but when he's a kid, he still unconsciously uses his stand's power to make the grass grow. It's possible that if there was another stand user nearby, they might have seen Giorno's stand aura, or even Gold Experience, when his stand power activated. Since the creator has stated that hermit purple is related directly to hamon, it makes sense it would be seen activating when Joseph uses hamon, even if it isn't properly manifested yet, just like how Giorno's stand activated to grow the grass, even though it wasn't manifested yet.

Fun Fact: Part 3 is the most adapted part of JoJo. The first adaptation came out in 1992 in the style of a Drama CD, and the second came out in 1993 as a six-episode OVA, with another six-episode OVA released seven years later.

Oh yeah, Part 3 enjoys its classic horror movie omages, I wonder if you'll spot them all? Also the painting isnt tied to Kakyoins stand, a good theory is that he's just being dramatic and using it to shoot precise shots at Jotaro, who at this point is still very new to the Stand thing Also, anyone can get a stand - typically you need a predisposition too it (like a blood line known for it or something, similar to family talents), and then you just need to awaken it somehow - awakening the stand is usually tied to your fighting spirit or will to live. Being tied to your spirit means each stand is personalized for its user, which is why their all unique and quirky (as you will see) Mannequins you say. . .

I felt the same way towards Jotaro at the beginning, even tho i might have been similar when i was a teen (wich is probably why it bugged me) but the development he has along the series and keeping in mind that he's not only the bad boy but the archetype of the stoic bad boy makes him more interesting, still he's a fucking dick at the beginning, no way around it.

@@Mattables I do wanna give you a fair warning about one thing in Stardust Crusaders and future parts of Jojo. It's not really a spoiler as much as just a... 'prepare yourself'. Araki, the creator of JJBA, feels that one of the most evil things someone can do in life is hurt or kill an animal, especially dogs. So in his series, he will sometimes have a villain kill a dog on screen in order to demonstrate that they are truly evil. This is a trope he uses in JJBA uh...more often than one should, I think. Not an amount that would make you think "Okay this is excessive", but enough that I wanna give a heads up to you if you like dogs to just...not get attached to random NPC dogs you see pass by on screen. I think 8 die in the part 3 manga, I can't recall how many are included in the anime. There are plenty of dogs you see that don't die! Don't expect a death every time you see a dog. Just a warning to not get attached to the random background characters, just in case. But until Part 5, when the Araki-killing-dogs-trope seems to go away, just...don't get attached to background character dogs. And I say background character cause there are some main character dogs that don't get hit by the Araki dog curse. It's mainly random side character dogs that fall to it. I'm sorry if you felt this was a big spoiler or anything! It's just something I feel I need to warn people who watch JJBA about, because sometimes the sudden dog deaths can hit hard, especially to people who really love animals, and I think it's better to be prepared than to just get gut punched by it.

Musical Reference(s?) in this episode: - When Jotaro comes back home with Kakyoin, Holly is singing Blue Coral Reef, from Seiko Matsuda - In the manga, she instead sings The Loco-Motion, by Little Eva Also, the ORAORAORAORAORAORAORAORA when beating someone is a "stand cry", multiple character have a different one, and it like the most common jojo reference, many anime uses this "ORA ORA ORA!" thing as a reference to jojo. (and also because it works really well anyway) Also Also, Kakyoin's "No one can just deflect the emerald splash!" is one of the most common jojokes, as Kakyoin basically never lands a hit from the whole part
