I can tell you what a VPN does. It makes you have to fill our Re-Captchas on every goddamn website you visit including google. You cannot go anywhere on the internet unmolested from clicking the bikes, the traffic lights, the stairs or the busses. Plus most streamers now wont function if you are connected through a VPN. Disney, Prime etc wont let you watch anything if you are connected through a known VPN IP which these days is most of them.
@serialNumber84 сағат бұрын
Hey. If you are going to advertise for a company, can you please start getting a computing professional to fact check the rubbish claims in the Pr material. Connecting via a VPN is no safer than using a normal connection, not does it use any different encryption methods. The internet (by and large) uses two encryption algorithms: HTTP & HTTPS. HTTPS has the S on the end, that literally means secure. Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure. VPNs do not change this in any way. VPN do not stop you from being tracked either. When you connect to a website with a VPN, your real IP address is still passed on to the website in your HTTP header. It just gets passed in a different packet. VPN advertising is shameful, disingenuous and in NordVPNs case, has in the pst been illegal and full of misinformation. Just thought it might be good for someone who actually knows what they’re talking about to get a bit if input.

@@kdog3908 I sort of agree but it is being driven by laws that force minorities' beliefs and cultures to the detriment of our own. It is illegal for us to defend our culture and values because that is seen as attacking the minorities. It is not illegal the other way round. What started out with the greatest intention to foster acceptance and understanding by defending minorities against extreme prejudice is being used to criminalise and marginalise normal cultural behaviours and free speech of the majority only. It is also being used to silence and cancel those who dare say anything against the state and state view. We haven't lost our spines. We've lost our voice.

There seems to be a burgeoning assumption that everything that is "wrong" should be illegal. If we continue down this road, it will soon be illegal to be in a bad mood, sullen, or snarky...while certain others beat up police officers with impunity.

If this can happen at the Open University it can happen anywhere else. How many of us are employees of "forward thinking" companies who we have seen throw hundreds of thousands of pounds at DEI "experts" and have introduced woke policies? Many I would say and the vast majority of them cannot afford to simply leave and have become trapped and effectively gagged for fear of what may happen if they have an opinion that differs from HR's dogma.

I think we need a demographic breakdown of who has “non crime” hate incidents brought against them. If it disproportionately affects certain racial or ethnic groups then this could result in a form of discrimination making certain groups less likely to get a job. Especially as this requires no proof of guilt, you may not even know you have one and so have no chance to contest. It seems wide open to abuse.

"non-crime" = not a crime so therefore there should be no involvement of the Police and law. If, and only if the Police and legal system could demonstrate they they had no outstanding crime to address, then, subject to agreement perhaps they could be allowed to busy themselves with some "non-crime" but, if the Police have time for "non-crime" they are under occupied and budgets should be cut. If the Police are determined to investigate and record "non-crime" then they should introduce a lower grade role "non-Police" who would be "non-waged".

My concerns regarding Non-Crime Hate Incidents (NCHIs) Presumption of Innocence - If we are to consider hate incidents at all (which is debatable), the principle of "innocent until proven guilty" must apply, just as it does for criminal offences. Police Role and Limitations - The police force is not designed or equipped to determine guilt. - There is an important separation of responsibilities between the judicial system and law enforcement, established for good reasons. Criticism of NCHIs - Non-Crime Hate Incidents (NCHIs) represent an inappropriate expansion of police powers. - With NCHIs, the police effectively assume the roles of judge, jury, and executioner, which is a concerning overreach of their authority.

We seem to have this thing nowadays of being offended on behalf of other people. This is exactly what happened with Alison Pearson when the person who made the complaint was offended on behalf of another group, this should not make him a victim as the tweet was not directed at him therefore he should be referred to as a complainant. As Ricky Gervais once said "Offense as always taken but never given"

All criticism of Government policy can be used as a Non Crime Hate Incident. A strong view against immigration policy could have the police knocking on your door on a Sunday morning. Or an outspoken stance against abortion. This type of Police State Authoritarianism is designed to chill public debate and instill fear in a segment of the population that is ideologically at odds with an activist permanent bureaucracy that has a totalitarian agenda for control.
