I've never played a Bioware game myself (only watched some gameplay from them), but you might like Shin Megami Tensei as well. It's a game series where you can recruit demons and fight with them and there are multiple endings.

This is such a good game; but there are some things that are fully broken, especially the class trainer thing, which can give specific abilities to every pokemon.. so I have multiscale golisopod & guerilla tactics slaking 😂

Battle week I also respect, it's kind of hell to have a team diverse enough, it does allow you to switch, but doing that entirely with the same 2 pokemon is sick

@@meldarion try the contributor/devs fights, they are WAY harder and are fights made by the devs to symbolise their own teams or teams that contributors/people who won the tournaments made, also yeah i think it was without battle items and only one of each healing item

Biggest issue I have with this is most teams are set up competitively and a lot of the game is spent grinding up attribute points, that you then have to spend along with energy. It's great for those that like hardcore difficult grindy games, but not your average Pokemon fan. I was gonna try this until my sister told me about what it was really like.

I swear I pitched this exact idea for a pokemon game to a fan game team I was part of just as a thought experiment... I'd like to believe that despite it falling apart horrendously that someone on the team went on to make this happen. well. even if it wasn't, given the idea is very similar to a Fable kind of approach to RPG, it still makes me happy to see that someone realized the concept. time to check it out.

The problem of this romhack is that it feels like a chore. Pokemon like Heracross locked behind specific days of the week and the whole energy concept are a big no-no for me.

tbf the food items make the energy system much more bareable, and the many different field zones you can unlock make it so that you're too busy catching all the other rare day specific pokemon to worry about one specific one. plus there are the dynamax zones that you can go in whenever you want, and if you win you get a regional version of the pokemon you fought (ie, hisuian zoroark or alolan vulpix) so its not like all the good pokemon are a pain to get.

The starters aren't actually based off the quiz but the quiz contributes a decent bit. Starters are chosen based off whether you have higher light or dark aura, or if they're even. Your "stats" such as strength, intelligence, charm, etc also factor in to which starter you get. It's not like mystery dungeon where the quiz is EVERYTHING that indicates what starter you're forced into choosing

I like Pathways, but it doesn't have enough of a story and the stat requirements are a grind because there is no time limit, so there is no reason to not get as many stats as possible and break the game. It doesn't have as many choices, but Pokemon Rejuvenation has a similar social system with way more content and a killer story. And It's crazy hard, given that it's made by the same people who made Pokemon Reborn (an EXTREMELY hard fan game.)

I played through this game, enjoyed it. But then I tried to actually make a choice (in this case getting expelled from the school) obviously i saved beforehand so if anything went wrong i could just go back. I got expelled and it was just a total game over. Tried going to the previous save but NOPE, my entire play through was gone. I had dumped a good while into this game but now all my Pokémon are gone :(
