Sweet, I was hoping that it could help a few people 👍🚀

Hey coach, I have an 8 yr old and an 18yr old who who just started racing locally. The 8yr old has been racking up the wins for the last 3 months. My 18yr old not so much. I also race (I’m 47 Novice) and get lucky with a win here and there. We’re all novices and love the sport and people we’ve met. I feel my 18yr old getting a bit discouraged from racing not the sport. There seems to be an over abundance of 8yr old Novices but not so much 18yr old novices. We both usually get thrown in with intermediates/ experts somewhat close to our age group. How would you approach this as a new rider? Take every race as a practice lap or go full send and risk everything that comes with that?

Go full send, and keep chasing them- eventually you guys will be hanging with them and your actual novice races (locally or at nationals) will be like racing in slow motion! Lol - I’ve been dealing with this with my 10 year old. Low local turnouts, so he ends up racing experts or intermediates- he goes and races these state races and does very well. I attribute it 100% to his time chasing experts and following their lines and doing it over and over. He just transferred up to Inter last Sunday- but the consistency is key, Speed/skill will come in time. (Just my non-professional father rider/coach 2 cents) lol -Cheers!

Hey mate Greg, what's Broken Sprints?
@BMXTraining Жыл бұрын
Basically doing more than one set of sprints in a given effort. For example, sprint on for several seconds, off for several seconds and back on for several seconds. This mimics the pedaling demands on a track 👍
