The subs for this movie are misleading, because at the lake scene with Natsuki and after Takumi saved her the subs are saying „I like you“ but in the original- and english dub it is „I love you“. It just hits harder if you know that. That‘s why Takumi is so stunned at the lake.

In the manga Mogi worked at the gas station with Takumi and there was also a cut race in the second stage portion of the manga where Takumi rides in one of his past classmates car with Mogi, also the person who exposed Mogi also reveals herself in the manga

I can't imagine Mogi at the gas station too, I look at the gas station scene as the time for the boys and Yoichi to talk about the next car opponent and stuff like that. I heard about the girl exposing Mogi too that liked Takumi, might have to read the Manga when this is over to see all the extra details I missed out on.

She gave him chocolates on Valentine's day and in a cryptic way confessed she liked him. She's actually shown in the opening on the legend 1 movie. Mogi the whole time knew how good and fast a driver takumi was, it's why she convinced the classmate to let takumi drive home. The classmate talked about how he was a great driver and was almost on par with the akina ghost downhiller, but he was complete trash The race happened because mogi was carsick from the ride to watch the race so she hung back in the car, when she got out dizzy she stumbled into someone else's car and the gf of the car owner went off on her for scratching it, but the BF didn't see anything and let it pass, on the ride home takumi came up on them and mogi egged him on to pass them This resulted in the classmate freaking out and passing out from fear.

For explanation, Group A was a set or racing rules and regulations organized by the FiA from 1982 to 1997. (The FiA organize most international racing leagues) Group A focused on using standard production cars modified for racing. The R32 GTR was used in group A until it was banned for essentially being too fast. Lan Evos also competed in Group A rally to moderate success.

Personally I find the 4th stage to be quite boring. Its just "they go there and do stuff" over and over again. The only thing that saves the reputation of that stage for me is the last pair of races.

I wasn't lucky enough to see it in the theater, but it still got me excited and got me pretty excited. I still get excited when I hear the first slow notes of Gamble Rumble, and then all the excitement with that shout of Bring it back yo! Rock 'en Roll! And well, that beautiful edition when they pass Strike on, Takumi crosses with the other car, makes a 180 degree turn, and starts Max Power... still gives me goosebumps of emotion. And of course, we remember something that Iketani had already mentioned when I think it was one of Ryouske's random lackeys, who challenged Takumi in a race in the rain: Takumi is used to doing the Akina circuit, rain, thunder or snow. I like that the love relationship of this series is not perfect, because I'm tired of the fact that there are no variations in the anime. Even many openings commit the atrocity of telling you in detail that the main character is going to stay with the girl, no matter how many problems the couple has. Better yet, to see that Mogui understood the mistakes of his past, and that both decided to turn over a new leaf and follow their respective dreams.... and maybe someday, they will meet again, more mature... (Just kidding, Mogui is not coming back!) What bothers me and confuses me a lot are the translations regarding the new 86 engine. In English, they refer to it as the engine that was discarded from a category or group A rally. While in the Spanish edition, this rally group is referred to as Group B. What I understand and is mentioned in the manga, is a type of engine that does not really exist, which they say belongs to Group A ... but it happens that the specifications are more those of the dreaded Group B. What is more interesting, (and this is a bit of a spoiler), no matter how good a driver Takumi is and how well tuned the car and engine is, he could not beat some Stage 4 cars and drivers, with a standard Group A engine, as these were limited. The power of the original 86 engine is 130 hp (a 4A-GEU Trueno GT Apex). The maximum power of the most similar engine of Group A, would be the A6 class, which would be between 230 and 240 hp. The smallest engine in Group B, would be the Lancia 037, 300 hp base, but it is an engine that would not fit the shape of the 86. The one that would fit would be the Audi Quattro A1, with the not inconsiderable power of 370 hp. In other words, the author invented an engine in between the Group A and B... If you are curious about Group B, search here on youtube for "Group B Monsters". And it would be understandable that Bunta himself would refer to the 86, with the new engine, as a beast difficult to dominate, even for him.

Also you can call it by its nickname the "Mister Two". Color code: Blue Mica Metallic Engine: 3S-GE; 170 HP - N/A The Second gen MR2 (and probably the prettiest generation) in its revision 3 chassis from 1993 which corrected some wigh distribution issues. Probably with a Rally suspension to be able to jump the car since Kai's father (Ken) was a rally driver and the car is his. TRD rims and badges. Kai's jump is an exaggerated version of the rally corner cut technique, still cool to watch. As a fun fact; The Original MR2 the fisrt gen AW11 from 1986 actually shared the engine and chassis of the stock AE86 but turned around and with a different body, being like a faster AE86, coming with the original blue-top 4A-GE engine (stock AE86 engine) and the 4A-GZE (The special version that came with the "supercharger" MR2, and as the car's name suggests it was a supercharged 4A-GE). So there is a duality in there, the MR2 vs the AE86. Miki: Toyota Celica GT-FOUR ST205 (the 6th gen of the Celica and the 3rd gen of the GT-FOUR rally variant). Color code: Spark silver Metallic (anime) Black mica (manga and arcade stage games). Engine 3S-GTE (a turbo version of the 3S-GE); 260-280 HP - Turbo. And it is 4WD. The Big brother of the Supra and on top of that Toyota's rally car for a time, coming with an anti-lag (misfiring) system stock from factory. Nothing to say here Miki is an a* but his car got to admit is one of the finest I've ever seen. As a whole fun fact, the whole movie was kinda like about rally. Lancer Evolution iii from 1995 Mitsubishi's rally car for a time until the next Evo came in, Toyota MR2 (used kinda), but the owner was a retired driver and Bunta's rival, Celica GT-FOUR toyota's rally car throughout the 80's with the 2000 GTR Celica and the GT-FOUR ST165 and ST185 and mid 90's with the ST205. And well Ryosuke doesn't count since his battle was more of a transition battle not a race per se. So about 4th Stage, you are going to freak out. If this movie gave you the chills, well then 4th is going to satisfy that.

47:39 Other commenters correct me if I'm wrong but that's a reference to your boy the manga writer Shuichi Shigenos second most famous manga called Bari Bari Densetsu which he made during the 80s and was about motorcycle racing, from what I heard from a Japanese friends they say it's better than Initial D but who knows as the manga never got released here and there was no anime adaption (there was a 2 episode OVA but imo it doesn't fully show what the manga is) thought it did end up winning a Kodansha manga award in the Shonen category in 1985 and it was the reason why initial d was made, well sorta 😉

Same here bro. Even though Initial D was not the very first anime I watched but throughout my time in the anime community out of all the animes I've watched Initial D is the one of the few anime that come to my mind every once in a while and I always go back to watch some of my favourite scenes and in some cases revisit the entire series. I still remember when I first stumbled upon the eurobeat memes in spring of 2020 and at first I was a little oblivious to the memes but I still kinda found them funny until one night when I decided to search for the origin of the memes and that is how I found Initial D. At first I was like "wtf am I even watching" when I saw how laughably outdated the animation and the CGI were but all of those thoughts were gone when the final scene of the episode started playing and that was enough to get me hooked onto the show. And since then it has been probably my favourite animes of all time and I don't what would have been my pov about anime if I had never watched Initial D.

The race with Kai was a very stressful event for bunta. He and yuichi assumed that ken sent his son after takumi to settle the score with bunta, which bunta saw as wrong and didn't want to use his son to settle a score and this is why he didn't give any advice or backstory to takumi. He wanted him to stand on his own

I’ll try to explain about Mogi and Miki, basically Japan in the 90s and early 2000s has a really bad problem with harassment to women. Miko also got that Nakazato curse, RAILGUARD. Both Mogi and Takumi just decided to have a good closure between them. 4th Stage? I'm gonna say that the tracks are going to be real fire that I can really say that this is Arson.

also, one thing to look out for when you watch Fourth Stage, it should be noted that Fourth Stage is in full screen but some websites have it in letterbox format with black rectangles on the sides causing it to look squished so yea look out for that

Great reaction! One of my favorite anime. Though it's sad that Takumi and Natsuki had a falling out in Second Stage, I'm glad Takumi chose to move on from it. He can drift in any conditions. Rain or Snow, the 86 is the fastest on Akina. Will you be watching Fourth Stage and Final Stage?

This stage was Awesome man! Yeah Takumi just further proved to me he's an 86 God with this movie. The whole Mogi, Takumi thing does suck but it's cool perspective of an anime relationship. Something about it being nonperfect makes it like real life too like sometimes our real life problems don't always have a fair ending and then life continues. And LOL I like how you skipped fifth stage in that question I guess you're not a fan of that one, but yeah I plan to get all stages done. I'm in too deep to stop now lol

Remember the reason why Ryousuke lost in stage 1 is he intended to blast Takumi at the very end of the race that Takumi cant have time to recover psychologically. thats why in the race against Takumi he wanted to stay behind a bit longer.

Bruh that Irohazaka track where they jump the cliff, that actually in the early video game Initial D Arcade Stage as well. I remembered as a teen back then playing that game in my local arcade trying to beat those time attack and stuff, bro it is so satisfying to do that jump. And also in Arcade Stage 3, Miki is the only opponent in story mode that you race in the snow akina and his car Celica ST205 was the classic black but in the movie it changed to sliver. Underrated car tho in Initial D, but irl that car is a rally monster

Or you can try their latest game called Initial D The Arcade which released in 2021 featuring Initial D and MF Ghost, the game also have Wangan Midnight collaboration so yes you can drive Z and Blackbird in Akina hahaha... Indeed you heard that right, they legit have 3 animes in one game

the iroha jump was actually a debate. alot of people were debating if it was possible irl and is it really effective. It is another cool part of initial d where you debunk the exagerration of the show and see if it is actually real and suprisingly majority are legit they're just sometimes overexagerrated.

Actually, Vegeta didn't get beaten by Goku in the beginning. Goku was losing to him after he transformed and only won with help. Vegeta was someone to take seriously right from the start. "Is that when they went to the beach? Naw. Her one-piece was yellow." Yeah, and Ryosuke's hair was black before. They like changing the color of things. Be glad that the 86 isn't yellow or brown.
