I know this is old, but 2 things 1. Usui is a road which is full of back to back turns so once you get a feel for your car and the asphalt, you can get into a kind of "rythm" 2. Yes, you can swing your car around from one drift straight to the next. And it does look kind of like in Initial D It is actually pretty common and can be done in multiple ways. (It's also got more than 1 name) You can do the Inertia drift/scandinavian flick/pendulum turn by: 1. Adding more countersteer which will steer the car in the other direction. 2. Letting off the gas pedal to let the rear wheels get more grip and allow the front to pull them around. Note:more grip doesn't mean that they stop sliding, they just don't slide as much. The pendulum turn is actually extremely common In drifting it is just something that happens as you go from corner to corner In rally it is done to turn the car on loose surfaces

21:14 inertia drift is an outdated term, nowadays when you drift in the opposite direction out of a drift, it’s called a transition. It’s not particularly hard, in fact when I was learning drifting in Assetto Corsa I did accidental transitions all the time It’s easy to initiate but doing it when you want and for however long you want is pretty hard to get a feel for

I know it's been years since you recorded these but if you've ever watched a rally race the way that The ladies race is akin to a rally stage where the co- driver is the navigator feeding information about upcoming turns because of how fast and dangerous it is on a lot of the rally stages That's how pro rally drivers can fly through those courses at unbelievable speeds with crazy spectators nearly getting hit as they get too close to the course lol.

Some, kind of relevant details, usui pass is real, it was actually the home course for the technical director (drift king tsuchia) but he spent years training on other easier passes before he made a debut there. The road section in question here is about 7 miles long and consists of around 140-150 corners, very hard to memorize or get lost mentally on and not be Able to go all out

I dont think this is a spoiler but mako and sayuki are unique and special because they're girl racers, leading to 2 stages being made just about them named Extra Stage 1 and 2, consisting of about 2 episodes each i dont remember. However they're both 18+ with the first one being more than the other. Also, in the extra stages and in these few first stage episodes, there are some songs used that were made specially for mako and sayuki, after all their actual voice actors sang them which is crazy. An example includes Wings Of Fire, the song before the spinning out part. Sorry for two comments on one video but I wanted to point this out as it is kind of cool. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed the race! Can't wait for second stage. Also, will you include extra stages and battle stages? Battle stage 1 basically remasters first stage races and includes normal graphics from second and third stage. Later battle stages apparently added some new races too. Extra Stage 1 is after second stage (as mentioned above me) and Extra Stage 2 is after fourth stage (Also mentioned above me). Battle and Extra stages are optional but recommended for the full experience. Third stage is a movie which is required to watch. There are also the Legend movies which just tell first stage missing out A LOT of things but the graphics are good but 10fps. Kind of worth watching. There is also a live action movie made by Netflix in Hong Kong, however people say this is the worst thing about initial d made. In my opinion it's also bad as it combines characters into one and is overall quite bad, however it's worth watching as some funny stuff happen. Battle Stage 3 I have not watched but I heard it's not all great however it's the last installment of the initial d series made in 2021. BS1 features races from S1, S2 and S3; BS2 features races from S4 and new ones; and BS3 features races from S5 and Final. So, what happened here was that takumi "synched up" or in other words kinda figured out the flow and cornering speeds of the road from following them, when they went in too fast he noticed they sped way up above normal and could see the corner coming up ahead so he backed down to the speed they were taking the other corners at. He would have visibility of the corner coming up from watching ahead of their car and seeing what their headlights illuminate. I think that's a fairly normal thing, I do it at night, I'll watch what the car ahead of me illuminates

Very fire run, don't under estimate being chased that close all the way. Many factors here that Mako couldn't handle, she's alone to go at that speed, like takumi on akina, the race is under akina entry speed, akina's way more precise breaking after full speed. (that's a point where takumi win by experience, he's used to that speed) Mako on the other hand never seen anyone follow her lead, it add a lot of pressure and you have to experience it to be able to deal with it. Like against Ryosuke mimic takumi, pressure is a thing really hard to deal with.

Usui pass is not a downhill race, its a valley in between mountains. Its currently bypassed by a highway tunnel. Its a relatively long road with constantly switching left and right corners. I dont think that a real AE86 would be able to keep up with a turbocharged 180SX. It would require significant power update (for example a supercharger). A stock 4A-GE engine would likely struggle with spinning a semislick tires on a relatively flat road, let alone keeping up with a faster car. Especially a car like 180SX, which is presumably also faster in the corner as it has a much better suspension.

Takumi had the glimpse of the pass during daylight while Kenji was driving, so basically he kinda have the "General overview" of the pass but not the full detailed view, it kinda gave Takumi just a small idea on how to maintain his distance to Mako and Sayuki. The Soundtrack "Wings on Fire" is sung by Mako and Sayuki's Voice Actresses. It's their real theme. If I can recall correctly the real C121 turn in Usui is a real challenge irl even. "We chose a monster as our opponent", heh wait till you reach Stage 4, it will be more than that. Hmm, secret relationships between a middle aged guy and a HS Girl is quite a fuss around Japan, I think even up to this day it's running around.

on your free time you should check out CTorretto drifting on Assetto Corsa, the sim has very realistic car physics and CToretto is a madman behind the wheel, i believe there are videos of him drifting IRL but he practices on a racing sim regularly. its a great way to observe drifting tecniques. also fun fact the mountain pass from this race Usui Pass is where the real life Drift King Keiichi Tsuchiya grew up

@@JayKReacts it’s pretty cool to get into you can get an entry level Logitech sim racing setup for around $300 and assetto corsa can run on most decent gaming PCs so it’s a relatively cheap way to get into drifting without the worry of ruining cars and track time and other inconveniences of doing it IRL. Nothing can replace the real thing but you can definitely learn from sim racing and drifting

Well, before I comment on these two episodes, I must give you a warning: Since you must surely be ahead of the episodes, you may be close to starting Stage 2 (or Season 2), of Initial D. My warning is DO YOU NOT WATCH THE OPENING OF THE SECOND SEASON. You can listen to the song and enjoy it, but don't make eye contact, haha.... Why? Well, because I realized that there is a little big spoiler present in the opening, related to an event that happens later in the series. It's a subtle spoiler, but once you see it, it ruins part of the excitement of not knowing what will happen. So my recommendation is that you don't watch the opening of the second season.
