He literally calls 3 runs up the middle that totaled negative yards then decided to go for it and finally throw the ball on 4th down which turned into a sack and turned the ball over on downs. I mean, seriously, WTF… passing the ball should have occurred at the latest on 3rd down, not going for it on 4th. The dude has no clue how to call plays in the NFL.

That's a vet move to let a young QB know that throwing to him will result in a penalty. Moore took himself out of the play just because he "tweaked" his ankle. You can't do that in the NFL. The difference is Fields was the 11th pick, his first year with the Ebeflus... Poles gutted the team. Giving him a bottom 5 Defense, Pass Blocking O-line, OC and no weapons. Then you give him a legitimate wide receiver 1 giving him a league low 2 above average weapons, one less RB, the same issues with the O-line, OC and for the most part defense at the beginning of the year. Before Williams was drafted Poles already done more to help out the Caleb then 2 years with Fields. Personally, I never thought Williams was generational and I thought he struggled against good teams in college. I would have kept Fields trade the 1st overall for a haul... for example MHJ, DE Verse, C Zach Frazier, G Dominic Puni and a 1st or 2nd in 2025 draft. Essentially strengthening 4 positions instead of manufacturing one in a QB and improving on a WR. If the Bears would kept Fields and drafted those players the chances are the Bears are 6-2.

The terrible part is the bears could have used that pick and load up on talent around fields, still had fields on his rookie contract for two more years, and STILL have the same high draft position (assuming fields bombed this year) they have in this draft after wasting it on Caleb. So if they needed a top qb prospect they could have got it in this draft and still had all the weapons from trading the princesses pick! 🤣 only the bears 🤦🏾
@russellseilhamer455217 күн бұрын
The Bears should’ve kept Fields and traded for all that extra draft capital that other teams were begging to give them for the number 1 pick. We could be talking about maybe a dynasty in Chicago had they played their cards right. They need to fire the offensive coordinator and get a guy who knows what he’s doing. By getting rid of Fields and drafting Caleb, the Bears are setting the clock 3 years on QB development. As for DJ Moore, I like the context Mike gives here; he’s not some spoiled athlete throwing a tantrum; he’s a guy seeing his team lose and career go up in smoke because of coaches mishandling of him. Coaches have the power usually through their own ineptitude to destroy a players career. I would absolutely hate having an employer that I felt was undermining my ability to contribute. Part of the negativity of the culture is a lack of trust the players have in the coaching staff. If players feel like coaches are making them better and they’re winning both on an individual and a team level then there is a trust and a bond; we see that with the Detroit Lions right now

Mikerophone, I think the DJ Moore thing may be something to keep in mind a little further. Moore LOVES Justin Fields. That's his guy that he really vibes with on and off the field. Of course he's gonna back his current QB and was probably intrigued by just how good he was branded to be, but Caleb Williams hasn't been as great as advertised so far & because of that, Moore may feel eventually like they somewhat unfairly jettisoned his guy in Fields for an overhyped QB

I've only seen a few Bears games this year but in every one I've watched they've had no running game and Caleb Williams has had to throw the ball >30 times. And he was running for his life on the majority of drop backs, which I guess isn't surprising since the defenses didn't have to respect the run. I don't know if the main problem was bad protection schemes, bad O line, bad qb play, a lack of open receivers, good defense, a lack of offensive balance that allowed the defense to sell out on the pass rush, or maybe some combination of those things. Whatever it was, the Chicago offense wasn't working, but I don't think the rookie qb who had no time to throw that was the biggest problem. And I say that as someone who has never liked Williams much or cared if he succeeded, beyond wanting more top tier qbs in the league because it makes for a more entertaining game. Having elite receivers doesn't make a damn bit of difference if the schemes don't get them open and the protection doesn't provide enough time for their routes to develop. Caleb Williams still has time, but I won't be surprised if he becomes yet another cautionary tale about drafting a "generational talent" qb without any idea of how to turn that talent into tangible results.

BEFORE the draft, I was thinking if the Bears would pull off the surprise of the decade, by drafting Jayden Daniels, who I liked better, and avoid all of the Caleb Hollywood stuff, but they didn't ..........maybe they should have

I would say just wait and see these qb’s 5 years. Caleb has the potential just has to adjust and develop shit he might have to hire his own personal OC apart from the teams

We all know that if JD wasn’t having such a breakout season, bear’s fans would be more accepting of CW’s development. However it’s hard when you’re looking across the bridge at the #2 outplaying your #1 guy.

I'm a lifelong Bears fan. We've been witnessing this cycle for decades. Caleb is developing in complete chaos. With him, the Bears have the keys to a Maserati and don't know how to drive stick. He gets his ass kicked every game and keeps fighting. There's a lot of special within him, but his coaching staff is completely incompetent on the offensive side of the ball. To make matters worse Ryan Poles built the offense completely outside in, leaving Caleb constantly running for his life and taking hits. The offensive line is unexcusable terrible and that's all on Poles.

The Chicago Bears drafted a spoiled rich boy who played in warm Clownifornia weather, to the coldest, brutal, and violent city that ever existed in America. It was doomed to fail from day one.

Team needs better O-line... team invests in loads of WR's then wonders why the pocket collapses too quickly to make use of WR's.

Like wide receivers, there’s not a lot of top tier coaches. Gonna be a lot of teams after Ben Johnson with Lions.

The Bears and Cubs survive by selling merchandise...Jerseys...etc. It's never about winning anything. Ive been a fan since 1975 and it's the same story year after year.
