Chris didn't want to do videos but was being pushed to do one. He decided to make it powerful & send a message about mental health. He succeeded beautifully. The Web address for change direction comes up at the end. This man is full of class & love & caring. You can't go wrong with any of his music. Close your eyes, pick one & it will be a banger.

I'm 65. I've battled depression all my life. When it gets that bad you don't know how to get help and all you can think of is to make it stop. My late husband literally pulled me out of the closet and took me to an emergency psych eval. That's when I was finally medicated and stayed in counselling for years. I've woken up with a tube down my throat. I've woken up screaming tied down. There are a few years of my daughter's lives I don't remember because I was in such a dark place. I have been on meds since 1998. Should have been sooner. Everyone thought they could just make me snap out of it. No one can do that. I no longer think about killing myself. If you know someone going through some stuff get them help because they may not be able to get it for themselves.. Make the appointment pick them up and take them to it. If they can't leave the house that day try as many times as it takes. Don't give up on them

This is difficult to admit but I suffer from bipolar disorder. Before my meds were finally doing what they should, this was my husband. The first time I saw the video, I cried my eyes out because from personal experience, this perfectly portrays what my husband had to go through. He is a retired firefighter and he wasn’t home every day. It became more and more difficult for me to even get out of bed. He had to leave the station a few times because of my actions. I only called a hotline once. I thank God he stayed with me, without his unconditional love and support I don’t know that I would still be here. We have been married 27 years but I always tell people that I don’t know how he has put up with me.

This is what country has that most other genres rarely pull off-storytelling! Whether amazing or harsh, gentle or in your face, there's just always incredible storytelling. Outside of country I think Kendrick Lamar & Taylor Swift are probably the best storytellers of our generation, & it's something that reaches everyone. Great reaction!

Go look up the "Making of Fire Away" video. They talk to Chris, the actors, the director and a rep from Change Direction, where all the proceeds are going. The female character is bipolar, extreme mood swings, depression. This was created specifically to bring awareness to mental health. It is sad, but I'm impressed he used his platform for something important that impacts a lot of people. If you want up-tempo, watch, "Arkansas," which is a very upbeat southern rock song. Or he just released his cover of Metallica's song, "Nothing Else Matters," which is just absolute 🔥🔥🔥!

As someone who suffers with treatment resistant Bipolar Disorder, I'm always grateful when artists use their platform to help bring awareness to mental health. No one has truly portrayed the reality of this disease right, but I appreciate the effort getting made. People need to understand that BP, like many mental illnesses, is a genetic neurological dysfunction that then causes mental illness. You can't beat it with meds, knowledge, talk therapy, meditation, yoga, etc. You can't beat it at all! You have to learn how the disease effects you, then do your best to work with it & hope the people around you are loving & understanding. It's no different then having a brain tumor & treating people with BP like they are weak minded/moody is degrading. Lol, sorry for the PSA! Great reaction!

@@megandelynn6114 All the ❤❤❤. I'm so very sorry that you must live with this. I don't know if you are familiar with Mary Katherine Backstrom, but I follow her on FB. Among many, many other things, she is also bipolar. She uses her platform to help educate people, and to help normalize acknowledging and speaking about. I know more from following her page than I ever did before, but she doesn't hide it when she's heading into a bad period. She may say she's going to take a break while she deals with it, but afterwards she'll share how she felt and what happened. She's an author, so she expresses it very well. It's this kind of exposure that helps people understand. I wish you the very best and send lots of positive energy and prayers for you and your loved ones. 🙏❤

@@Melly01 Thanks for the support Melly! I'm very much the same way-open about my disease, how it's affecting my moods and the rest of my body, & just trying to get rid of the stigma. My favourite author is a professor named Kay Jameson who wrote "An Unquiet Mind". She's a psychiatrist & Bipolar & is pretty much the reason we know what we do today about mood disorders. You can also find lectures from her here on YT. She was my solace when I was first diagnosed because I desperately needed knowledge! I'm not big on FB but I'll make a note to check your suggestion out! Thanks again & brightest blessings!

@@ABtheKreator Yes, Either Way is sad, but such a true representation of the way things fall out sometimes. I think Fire Away is sadder since the outcome in the video is irreversible and the mental health aspect is so difficult to manage. Loving someone so much and not being able to "fix" the misfires in their brain, the way they feel, just makes you feel like you failed. Which is a sucky feeling. Why aren't you enough to make them happy, no matter how much you love and give? Mental illness sucks the life out of the person who experiences it, as well as the people who love someone who is afflicted with it. Either Way hits the nail on the head in describing the utter dead spot we sometimes feel when we're trapped in a relationship that has emotionally wrung us out and we're just ... done. At some point, after fights, crying, making up, trying, failing, trying again, you have just lost the ability to feel anything at all and both of you are miserable. It's depressing, but expressive of where some people are in life. It makes you feel seen at a time when your world has no color, you're just living in an old, grainy, black and white film. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Not everyone's cup of tea, especially if you're looking for that happy, happy, upbeat song. but music expresses emotions and this song certainly hits where some people are living right now and resonates with them. His voice vocalizes the pain in a way that can't be ignored.

Check out If We We’re Vampires and Cover Me Up by Jason Isbell. He’s not the raw vocalist that Chris is but he’s probably one of the best songwriters alive in any genre.

Always tell my loved ones they’re loved, every time we talk. You do not leave a place, or a call, without hearing it. Never know what someone is struggling with and I like to think I’m a pretty tough guy; I’ll carry that world on my back. Talk.

That “unexpected turn” is exactly what bipolar disorder does…to the one that’s battling it but also, often with little or no warning, to those that love them. I’m BP. Meds help if you’re consistent with them, but s**t can go sideways in a hurry if you’re not. As hard as it is for the person that has it, I think it’s, at least, twice as hard on the people that try/want to love them.

Chris actually used to write songs for other artists, n sing back-up, his wife, not then..worked there too...Tennessee Whiskey was for her. She's the one who pushed him to sing his own music..Sooo happy she did!!💋💖🌹💔 I'd actually 100% appreciate it if you'd do a song Chris wrote for Luke Bryan called "Drink A Beer"!! The live one, Chris is actually sitting there singin w him! We've dedicated this to a couple VERY special ppl who left us way too soon..n the anniversary was night before last...ty doll🙏💖🌟✨🌹🌹🌹🌹
