I've been doing a lot of cellphone choirs in Reaper since the start of covid. There's one tip I'd like to pass on. Video can only be aligned to the frame rate. So at 30FPS you're at around +/- 33ms if you're trying to align two videos. That might not be bad for video but aligning two audio tracks will suffer. So what I do is align the videos as close as possible, then render the audio components to separate wav files, mute the videos, and mix the audio separately.
@CHRISTWARD2 жыл бұрын
Can Reaper handle this? At one point, I tried recording a video on my Canon camcorder. I also recorded just the audio on a tascam recorder. When I tried to line up using another software, the two files slowly went out of sync. Can I get them to sync in Reaper so that the files both start and end with the audio not going out of sync). I just started checking out Reaper (actually it says that I first signed up a long time ago but don't remember anything from that). Anyway, I would like to understand what you are saying.
@DThompson552 жыл бұрын
@@CHRISTWARD It's certanly doable. The trick is that you need to know the video frame rate. There are several in common use. My guess is that your video camera is operating at 29.97, but reaper is set to 30. That would cause the kind of drift you described. You set that in the project settings under the video tab.

Thank you again Kenny!!! After watching this video, I am DEFINITELY going to try to do this with my next video!! I have been processing my audio files of original music in Reaper, and putting them into a separate video editing software using the reaper render as the soundtrack behind a silent movie screen capture of a scrolling score.... however, now I see that in Reaper 6, I don’t have to switch software, but can even zoom in on the instrument section playing and not subjecting my viewers to watching lots of empty measures and a soloist too small for clear viewing. Everyday Reaper makes my music presentations more professional and closer to an authentic representation of what I wrote on paper! All I need next is a chorus software that sings the choral texts and lets me move away from the “midi chair all AH”... nonetheless, Reaper is and INCREDIBLE program and Kenny’s videos are wonderful for walking you through the painful process of learning such advanced software!

@AdamAarts4 жыл бұрын
Loop Connection I use both professionally. The workflow of reaper isn’t quite the same or nearly as efficient or powerful as premiere from what I’m seeing here. For a simple project I could see it being very useful, especially if you’re on a budget or already own reaper. Just like the inverse, Reaper is much easier and more efficient to edit audio. For simple audio plug ins and cuts Premiere does fine and I’ll use it for that pretty often. Point being, each program has its strengths and I don’t see one replacing the other any time soon

The output favors the video on the higher track or the video on the bottom when I put them both on the same track using "free item positioning" The black background field on the video output isn't transparent and wont allow the zoom and pan plugin to separate the videos into serrate boxes.
