@@feverdream2661 i get bad motion sickness too with anything less than 60fps on any game (even not VR), it's a bit of a curse as I can't really enjoy games if not with a multi-thousand dollar computer. I got one a few years ago and it really completely solved it for me. With the Quest 2 standalone I can play some games like beat saber just fine, but others make me want to sit down and vomit in 10 minutes. With PC games like Assetto Corsa I haven't had issues at all, but I got a used 3090 to do it (before I had a 2070, it could do it but stayed at ~70fps which is at the edge for me, I guess that a 2080 is enough for simracing games). I agree with you Dan, once I tried VR out I could never go back. I even invested on a high end 4k monitor thinking that it would be enough for immersion, but VR is a whole different game. I also find myself saving a lot of money not trying to buy too many wheels as the VR wheel representation is all I need. The quest is great, but personally favorite is my Pico Neo 3 Link, the link factor is that it connects to my PC via an actual Display Port via USB C and it provides amazing visuals without a hitch of compression. My wow experience was when I put the VR headset on and found myself inside the Lamborghini Huracan GT4 on ACC. Can never forget that moment. Plus there was already random rain occurring and it was even more immersive. I do hope the VR tech improves as the quality of the textures and clarity are still miles away from what you see on a flat screen. Once such company that is pushing the 200 FOV mark is Pimax. Giving you a full view without the binocular vision that is present with the Quest 2. Once you tried the Pimax 8kx or the 5k super there is indeed no turning back. But these products lack the image quality and the clarity that the Quest 2 has. They have a new one coming out called the Crystal (High in clarity 42ppd but low FOV [Quest 2 like] and the 12K QLED with a 200 FOV, which is going to be a game changer. 6k per eye! That's insane!

There is no better way to experience that than VR. Wait till you discover Skyrim VR with VR mods that make the game insanely immersive. I recently got the NLR DD wheel stand (which can be upgraded to "GTtrack" cockpit if you buy a seat), and think this is a very nice affordable solution. It is also great for people who have limited space. I have been thinking about getting a smaller apartment that doesnt cost as much for rent and heating. Especially the living room doesnt have to be bigger than to fit 1 small table, some shelves, my gaming chair, wheel stand, and a stand for a 55-60"TV. Probably sounds absurd to Americans who love their big homes, but im the type of guy who is fascinated by "efficiency", and who gets my social interactions through FB, and REALLY DONT plan on starting a family EVER, lol! I do a lot of iRacing and recently switched from VR to a 42" OLED. Triples would be ideal, but it's what I have room for now. I definitely am faster in VR, and it's a better experience. But I can race longer with a monitor, the monitor just works, no annoying setup issues like with VR, and I can see stuff outside of the headset which is useful for hitting certain buttons on the wheel and keyboard if needed. Overall, VR actually ends up limiting the experience because you can't see your hands or surroundings. It's definitely taking a bit to get back up to speed on a screen though.

What made ya choose the Quest 2 over the HP G2 Reverb or other VR headsets?
@DOITWITHDAN Жыл бұрын
It was a gift from Laura. For the price and features it was definitely the best option on the market. I'm not sure a out the other two you mentioned.

I'm really glad this popped up on my recommended. I've been following you since before you moved to Georga when you did bike blogging on my different account. After I made the new one I wasn't following very many people, but I'm glad you came back around again. I've also givin you a follow on Twitch. Love the setup man, I also have a passion for sim racing/trucking/flight sim.

Been watching your channel for ten years dan, I have to say that if anything this is just another avenue to make videos that not only you're subs like. But also what you like. Practice moderation when possible and you'll be aight

Remember years ago coming across you bike videos, love em. I’m a casual Sim racer on Dirtrally2.0 what’s your screen name and are you on any of the tournaments through codemasters ? Honestly I see the logic behind getting the best of everything right away for your sim rig but the best way is to progress in my opinion. Take for example someone who just wants to get a wheel and see if they even like the experience. The cost is so much nowadays you almost have to build up and trade up /sell equipment until you hit a level your comfortable with without blowing the whole cost of a real car on your sim rig if you don’t have money to waste.

A decently affordable upgrade and huge jump in clarity is the HP Reverb G2, especially on a sale or 2nd hand.. Then get a custom Wide FOV face gasket. Not only way better visuals, amazing sound, more comfortable , much lighter and no losing battery since it has to be plugged in.

I started watching your moto vids, got into VR racing a year an a half ago, had to take a break. But I still love racing in vr flight as well quest to reverb G2. It’s crazy how immersive it is

the head set really completes the experience. not using it is like playing at 4k 120hz for a long time then trying to go back to 1080p 30hz.

Sick setup, the scary thing is it is ONLY going to get better and more realistic with the evolution of better graphics cards, game engines, faster internet speeds with lower latency, and improvements to realism programs like Ray Tracing. We are literally in the Atari era of what home racing sims will be in 10 years. A buddy of mine is working with a company that is developing haptic and olfactory engagements, which means you will feel the vibrations in your seat and steering going over rumble strips, you will feel the wind blow through your hair in a convertible, you will smell brakes, clutches getting hot, you will smell burnt rubber from burnouts, the sky is the limit with this technology.

This video just popped in my feed so I checked it out. I was just going to comment on the Heatwave shirt but now I'm convinced I need to build a sim rig haha.

Modded Assetto Corsa is probably the best experience in sim i have had. the community has built a Vast library of tracks and cars.I had 1 tb of mods last year and that was just a small % of what is available. I am addicted to drifting. been doing it almost 4 years now. nothing more exciting than rubbing doors in a cloud of smoke at 60 mph all the way around the track!

that's awesome man, sounds like you found a passion, go with it and who knows where it will take ya. i think i would genuinely react the same way trying VR sim racing for the first time. i've never even tried VR ever.

Hey man, this is the first video I've ever seen from you. Loved it! But if you want to enjoy the VR headset even more, then you've gotta replace the stock headstrap my friend. That in itself is a game changer

Dude this hit deep lol, been watching you for a long time. Sold my Logitech driving force GT because it is gear driven and just felt bad. Going to save up and shoot for the Moza R5 Bundle to get in deeper and get the clutch pedal with some cheap quick disconnect wheel on ebay. Couple of tips for making the VR setup easier! Virtual desktop was a game changer when I got my quest 2, lets you stream from PC wirelessly no link cable! You can then get a 30 watt charger brick and it will actually gain battery while playing!

Just got my R5 bundle in, USB cable comes tomorrow(needed a long extension) ... spent about 2 years getting my gaming rig up to snuff (3080, 5800x3D, 32 gig ram, Quest 2) ... all set up and ready to go ... built a desktop to clamp everything to ... got a big chair. Probably dive right in tomorrow ... got Asseto Corsi Competition or however you spell it, got Dirt Rally 2 or 4 or whatever on steam ... gonna try it on Wreckfest (love that game) ... maybe even some time on American truck Simulator. I've spent so much time and money building my rig and putting everything together and setting up software that I sort of feel like 'I just build gaming systems, I don't actually play them ' lol ... oh yeah got a pair of VKB NXT Gladiator EVO Omni's hooked in to the rig for some Star Citizen and anything I can find in VR flight/space ... the desk mounts for those come in tomorrow too. Been a long road, almost afraid to start playing, but you look like you're having fun. Thanks for the video, cheers !

ps, oh yeah there is a way to set up Wreckfest for VR. Petey over on Paradise Decay did a video on it, I tried it and it works ... haven't used the whell on it yet and don't know how good the FF is gonna be on it but we'll see.

Despit3 being a formwr rally driver I couldnt play racing games to save myself, it didn't matter what view I chose, but when I tried VR it was a total game changer. The stereoscopic view means everything becomes real.

my first vr experience was the best moment of my life, it was psvr earlier this year, on ps4 gran turismo sport, i laughed of joy and couldn't believe i was actually inside the virtual world, inside the car and in full size. a few months later i upgraded my pc then bought the hp reverb g2 v2. now i play sim racing vr on pc.
