Bon Clay's farewell goodbye made me cry, he's definitely the best queer ass character I've ever seen. Because honestly I've never felt relates and or feel emotionally attached for yassified gay characters in western cartoons due how much they felt pondering without any actual good writing on them. But Bon is built different but gay.

Impel Down is my favourite arc from One Piece. Apart from the things that you mentioned, I am amazed how this arc forces Luffy to do things that he would never do in normal conditions. How many times can you see Luffy knowingly freeing an evil person? Or not picking a fight with a villain and letting him fulfilling his plans? Or leaving his friend for a certain death? Luffy in this arc does things that would normally be out of his character, but it is written in a believable way. It shows us how far Luffy can go to save his brother.

Love the vid I think the only part I wanted to comment on was about Shiryu. BB didn't go there to break him out he was already out bcuz of megallan and then Shiryu saved BB and his crew from the poison so they teamed up. But like most of BB's crew they are the off screen masters

Nice to finally see a breakdown of why this saga is so liked. Me, I've never been a fan. Or of Marineford, and I recently re-read this all too. As a diehard pre-timeskip fan, it's what made me fall out of love with One Piece back in the day as, specially in retrospect, I see it as the turning point that set all of modern One Piece's worst trends in stone. Like the trillion things going on at the same time, constant running through gimmicky, ugly Fisher price ass setpieces that don't quite land, meeting a billion new characters, watering down the world building with each... And worst of all, the other strawhats, the wonderful secondary cast this manga had, has been officially and forever pushed to the sidelines, and never quite return. I know there's worse stuff in One Piece but this arc really doesn't play to the things I liked One Piece for, so I've always prefered anything that comes before it. A shame. But I do mean it that it's nice to know why people like it, hope you don't mind the bitchy post, just felt like putting my feelings about the turns One Piece took after wartching this. Great videos btw, loved the other One Piece one, and the DB GT/Super comparison, great job on all those!

In your video about One Piece being worse post-timeskip your 2/4 arguments were - less development for Straw Hats and forgettable/weak villains. And here you say that Impel Down is one of the best arcs, even though it has no Straw Hats at all (apart from Luffy) and a main villain is mediocre at best. I don't think Impel Down is bad - I have it in my top 5 pre timeskip arcs, but you kind of contradict yourself here.
