This is why I love your work. The path not taken, except by Carolyn. I love it when you go off path, like when you veered off the forest trail on your trek, and found a beautiful clearing and lake. You are so happy in those moments it makes me feel happy too. Good job lady. 😁☮

Never been there. Looks amazing. This next summer I am gonna go see my mom and explore Wyoming a bit. I was rasing my boys when I lived by Powell and Cody. I so miss the simple life. I know my kids are great young men from being raised there. There are still some great places to raise kids around. And wonderful school systems. I hope you enjoyed your time there.

Hey, we have a lovely little farm for sale in a holler of the western mountains of NC 😃. We’ve grown and raised our own food here for the past 8 years 👍🏾. That was Moose poop 💩. Don’t forget to add mountain lions to that list of wildlife. Don’t be dinner 🍽! It always makes me sad to see those beautiful old log structures falling down.

I kinda think that keeping chickens for eggs & to compost kitchen scraps for you still fits kindness to animals principles. You have to protect them from predators though so in most cases that means fencing and roofing (with wire fencing) an area. Course you have to do that with your veggie garden & fruit orchard too. Not sure about preservation techniques though. Canning, drying, freezing? I wonder how growing grain would work out. Lots to think about.

Screen Door! That reminds me of my recent FB post and my door(s) sounded like a solid new car door closing and how you can adjust the clasp that can loosen over time on the screen door and cause that rattling. I used a Philips head screw driver to adjust my 2006 Class C to better hold to the main door. That took care of all the rattling AND the clanging when the door accidently swung open to it's outside latch... hopes this helps.

Carolyn I think that's very good advice. When I come nomading. I'm Going to have to push myself how to be one with nature by the time I retire, I've worked every year since 1978. I think it will be hard to wake up and keep going. Knowing I don't have to do anything that day.

Almost none of the modern homesteaders are completely dependent from ever going to a grocery store. They aim for just MOSTLY self sustained. Might as well grab some tofu or something while you're at the store and just grow all your veggies. Hell you may even be able to grow soy or protein dense vegetable like peas and broccoli.
