Also Max, few tips. You have a flashlight if it's too dark. Second, keep moving. The longer you stay in place, the shorter the tether between you and the alien will get. Keep in mind you can WALK everywhere unless the alien is right in your face. This will increase your movement speed significantly and it's fairly silent. And the alien can also hear the motion tracker if you're using it too close to him. Also don't forget you have a plethora of tools to distract the alien. Good luck! It's the best aliens game ever made!

Watching Max play this again on stream made me REALLY appreciate the sound design. You can really feel how much tension in this game gets built just from audio cues alone. Very few games have nailed it as much as this one did. I also really respect Max's playstyle throughout the run. I think a lot of people found the game too long in part because, on top of all the objectives, it's really easy to feel stuck in a corner and never wanting to move. Max always inched his way forward though, and pulled some ballsy plays, which I think the game encourages.

Part of the reason the game takes so long (at first) is because it sets traps that the player will walk into by themselves. New players (Max included) feel the need to whip out the motion tracker at all times, not aware that all enemies (the xeno included) can hear it going off, causing them to be killed by it; new players (Max included) immediately think that jumping into a locker is the best way to hide, not aware that it leaves you with nowhere to go and can result in you losing health when you hold your breath too long. To Max's credit, he's got a feel for the game most people don't have this soon- he's walking when it's safe, which is _exactly_ what you want to do when the xeno is not around. The _best_ way to survive is to keep moving when you can, be patient when it's dangerous, take calculated risks every so often, and use everything at your disposal (especially access rewires).

I was born and raised in the village that was mentioned in the deleted scene from Aliens. In the directors cut Paul Reiser's character tells Ripley that her daughter is buried in a cemetery. This cemetery is located in Little Chute, Wisconsin. I never found out why they added this detail. Probably someone who helped to make the movie was from my village.

The European Extreme version is definitely the scariest game I’ve ever played. Simply put as someone that went through the game truly from start to finish, this nails the style and atmosphere of the first film perfectly and appropriately ratchets up the tension and scale to also convey the energy of the second film too. The first 10 hours of the game are exhilarating, haunting, and creepy as well as tense with an unstoppable monster that can be deadly to you and everyone else. In the last 5-8 hours though, it does become long in the tooth, forcing backtracking to get to the standard ending for this series (self destruct and airlock QTE) and the Alien loses its scare factor, when about a dozen of them stalk throughout the entire station as soon as you get the Flamethrower. Damn good, but its notable flaws keep it from being truly one of the finest horror games in general. For now, it's one of the best game entries in the Alien Series.

Thing of Beauty? The AI is extremely basic and actually really bad when you look at it. The game encourages you to hide from the Alien when it is around, but the Alien itself will always patrol in a set radius around your character even though it doesn't know where you are. So if you're on one side of the map searching for items and trying to avoid it, it'll gravitate over to your location which will likely cause you to hide, and if you do hide you'll see it's pattern clear as day. It'll patrol and wander in a set distance from your position, walking back and forth and even if you sneak away and go to another section it'll just reppear there instead. It makes exploring the enviroments and landscapes a tedious and annoying chore where you hide, wait for him to leave then get out of hiding only for him to reappear moments later causing you to hide once again and do the whole process over again. You can't out run the alien and items that stun it or distract it don't last long enough to be worth while.

@@Summer_Tea I mean hey, if you enjoy tedious AI then more power to you. I don't think it would've bothered me as much had I not seen through it almost instantly. The mystery and horrifying aspect of the Alien hunting you is the key appeal of this game and if you don't have that then it becomes like most horror games where the enemy is more of an annoyance than anything scary or engaging. The medical ward was one of the worst parts for me because of the map lay out you can literally hide in one of the rooms and watch as the Alien prowls back and forth outside, because it might as well be attatched and connected to you via an invisible rope it'll never go too far before coming back, giving you a very limited window to escape, I found that if you just sat there the Alien would never leave that section until you do and once you start to move it will also start to move as well. Psychic enemies that constantly graviate towards you despite crouch walking and trying to sneak when getting to far from them isn't my Idea of fun. You never feel like you're out smarting the Alien just abusing it's broken AI loop.

Whether it's Alien, Event Horizon and, yus, Dead Space, (even the GREAT Star Wars novel: Death Troopers), I just feel drawn to them, wanting to immerse myself in their lore and learn all I can. Anyone who remembers the 80's realizes that Paul Reiser's character was very believable. He was the do-anything double-talking yuppie who was out for a percentage above everything else. The only unrealistic thing about his character is that karma actually managed to bite him in the ass. Most yuppies in the real world made their money at the cost of everyone else, said "peace out bitches", and moved to a gated retirement community.

The robot was just like "this locker is sUs" and went over to the locker. He was waiting and was probably thinking "tf is this girl doing?" Imagine if we saw it from the robot's perspective

YAAAASSS! The game is generally okay for the first few hours depending how quickly you progress and how much the atmosphere gets under your skin. I can see how it being a slow burn initially might have been a let down. Then Medcial happens. That separates the wheat from the chaff alright. Fun fact: you can die in the first transit area after Axel dies. I tested it once because on a re-play I wondered why I was hearing actual vent cues before I left. Did that on nightmare (deliberately left flashlight on) Jesus christ it just dropped and killed me before the transit car doors opened, LOL. I love this game to pieces.... I mean I've lost a lot of the 'fear' but you still have to operate under a deal of stress. The survival maps in particular are a nice challenge afterwards as it puts together everything you've learned, give you very limited resources and slaps a time limit on your objectives

Max won't see this message but, The Shining wasn't the first horror movie, I know of at least, to have no music. There's a movie called "The Haunting" which is a 1963 ghost movie but there's no ghosts shown, there's no music, and you never see any sort of creature. It is one of my FAVORITE horror movies of all time, definitely top 5.

If you're gonna watch Aliens, there's the theatrical release and the extended release. Theatrical is fairly paced and easy to get into. But the extended edition has some scenes that are awesome, saddening or frightening that were cut: One of them was the turret scene. It's just a couple of auto turrets bottlenecking a hallway. Seeing the characters watching a blurry crt security cam of the turrets blast the xenos seemed cool, but the frightening thing was when the ammo starting running out and the xenos... they're still pouring from that hallway.

In the novelization for _Alien,_ a xenomorph becomes mesmerized by a spinning green light for several minutes. If there are rudimentary ocular structures inside the xenomorph's head where the skull eye-sockets are, behind the carapace, that could neatly explain: 1. Why the xenomorph can detect light and has trouble seeing in the dark at long distances, but very well in lit environments 2. Why it can be stopped by the smoke bomb, unable to see its prey past the vapor 3. Why is has awful peripheral vision even when the prey is a foot away to its side 4. Why it can miss it's prey hiding behind a table with a part of it sticking out 5. Why it gets fascinated by the flare 6. Why they're smart enough to deprive their prey of light before striking, and prefer hunting in the dark or at night; there would be no point in them cutting the power or limiting their hunting period at night if they have no concept of what light actually is.

I still can't believe I finished this game 7 times! In all difficulties available. I must've been out of my mind back in 2015. No regrets though. AI became one of my favorite games of all time. A true hidden gem...

The length of those playthrough really prove how experience & skill can make a game MUCH shorter. Most blind playthrough of this game by youtubers take 8-10 hrs total (with a few ragequits here and there) The WR for (Nightmare Difficulty) with No Major Glitches is like 2h 43m 08s This game's "lifespan" is probably one of the most player-dependant one I've ever seen (and played myself).

Btw in 1:22:48 the momment you press the call button the alien is active but he wont come to search for you unless you make some noise or wait in the same place for too long. 1:23:50 you said nothing is gonna happen buuut if you hear there was an audio cue of the alien dropping, got lucky there Max 🤣🤣

The one movie that fucked me up as a kid was The Blob (1988). I was around 6 years old and I would often sleep on the floor downstairs because I had super bad vertigo, so I couldn't sleep in a bed. And I remember I kept waking up cuz the TV was on, and The Blob was on at around 1am or something. And I remember seeing three deaths; the one where the girl tries to pull the guy away and ends up ripping off his arm; the one where the guy dies off-camera when he gets dragged up onto the ceiling; and the one where the guy gets pulled into the sink at the restaurant. That last one *fucked me up* forever. Even now, 25 years later, I can't watch that movie.

Characters, environments, and atmosphere build ups are quintessential to contributing to a great story. let it be as slow as it would take to flesh them out, there's a reason why movies like 2001: Space Odyssey is liked by many albeit it's really slow..
