It's not like they're doing anything else with the license. Does Sega even still have it? I think Aliens: Colonial Marines was such a dramatic and public humiliation for Sega because of its insipid handling of those studios that they got spooked by the license altogether. Alien: Isolation sold 2.1 million units by March 2015, and has SINCE been ported to Switch. That's an enormous install base, many of which would welcome a sequel. Alien: Isolation 2 would make money, but Sega don't understand how to business.

I can understand them not doing a sequel yet. It's hard to repeat that kind of feeling. It's a completely new experience and having a sequel doing the same would be kinda boring. The nest was so nerve-wracking. I played through the game three times (had to do it twice more because the no-death achievement didn't unlock for me despite not dying on the first try), and this was the one part that still shook me. What I found odd on Max's playhthrough is the moment I booted up the second electricity-thingy, the aliens got really agitated in the nest, and this really dramatic music started playing on the escape. In contrast, it was very quiet here. Dunno if it's a thing with a PS4 or a glitch, but it happened on my every run.

We did not know what it was and where it came from, what it wants, what it strives for.. and that's what made the Alien mythos so incredibly interesting in the first place, especially at the time when the movie was released. Then Ridley Scott comes along and is like: 'Hey, how about we create a whole backstory to the xenomorph and explain every little detail, destroying all the mystery around it and making it bland and boring'? Yeah great idea, Ridley. Honestly, f*ck Covenant... to me, that movie is not canon to the Alien saga. YES YES and YES. The most interesting part was the Engineers. How and why they created life? why did they leave? did they regret it? Instead of exploring that, the movie A:C focused on David being an asshole which makes no sense. I understand he wanted to make some experiments with the aliens, but why killing every human? He definitely enjoyed human´s artistic side as we´ve seen him reading books and listening to music. Ridley Scott chose to do a movie based on Fassbender popularity (amazing actor BTW) instead of a proper plot based Aliens lore.

The ending (replacing the Xenomorph cameo at the end) of Prometheus should have gone something like this instead of that open-ended thing. The Engineer wakes up from under the giant thing, coughing and enraged, and gets on another ship to go after Shaw. When he's in space he starts to convulse in pain and his ship veers off-course and crashes on a deserted unknown planet (which would be LV-426). The last screen would be the Engineer weakly pressing a few buttons to send a warning signal before his suit bursting open and the first Xenormoph screaming (like the cameo scene but a more "normal-looking" Xeno). This would lead straight to the first Alien movie and would explain a bunch of questions about the first movie.

I think alien isolation is one of those games that will be still talked about in years to come. kinda like system shock back in the day. it's just a really well done game. visually I think it hasn't a day except for maybe some of the character models but other then that the level design and creative placement of lights all around are timeless they really nailed the feel and look of the first two alien movies. I just wish Sega would consider making a sequel. creative assembly hasn't done anything remarkable recently besides total war three kingdoms, and their latest outing total war Troy was pretty awful. then again imagine a lot of people who worked at creative assembly back when they made alien isolation might not even be there anymore. the games industry is a bit like pro sport. lots of talent switching around from company to company.

One of the coolest things about this game lore-wise is that we get to see a company besides The Company. Seegson is the Coleco to Weyland-Yutani's Atari, and it's so neat. I also love that we get to see engineering, marketing, AND executive perspectives on the Working Joes, which are literally the best they can do, but they're really shitty, so they market them as being intentionally shitty. The Working Joes are so rich in lore. And Sevastopol! Sevastopol is so wonderful, one of the finest and best-developed environments in ANY video game. Every single detail of every corridor and corner is so carefully thought out.
@pocoloco7532 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The way the devs expanded upon the original lore in a way that feels natural is mind blowing to me. They created a whole competitor company, a brand new line of androids and a vast array of AI, computer, software models that while different, fit perfectly into the universe. No wonder everything about this game is considered cannon, this is how you expand a previously stablished universe. I wish Ridley Scott took notes from how this game did it, maybe it would've averted the "edgy android created Xenomorphs" angle that current movies are working on, one of the most unnecessary origin stories ever

@@pocoloco753 Yeah. The RPG is walking the David canon back a bit by saying that the Imp and the "Praetomorph" were different subspecies artificially created by David that were separate and distinct from the actual Xenomorph species, which kind of is the best of both worlds. I have played it through many times (am in a run now), and seen many streamers play it. Every single one has had the same reaction. This is the best Alien game period. Having already played it, I was ready for all the times when I knew it was going to end you. Like when you got to the hive, when the generator died, and when you got abducted. I still hope and pray that they do another one. I would love to see Amanda in a Hadley's Hope situation.

7:20 "To achieve this, the game requires two distinct behavior management systems: the ‘macro’ or director-AI and the ‘micro’ or alien-AI. The director observes the player throughout the game, always knowing your location. Meanwhile the alien-AI is driven by a series of sensors and behaviors that allow it to hunt the player down. The director’s job is to point the alien in the direction of the player periodically, to give it a hint as to where it should be looking. Despite this, the alien is never allowed to cheat: while the director always knows where you are, the alien has to figure it out for itself. You can fool it, you can surprise it and you can escape it." from gamasutra website

I just watched the entire Playthrough (like 16 hours) in a day because I like watching these kind of games but not really playing them and I had nothing really better to do. What am I doing with my life.

Doubt you'll read this comment after so long. But this playthrough was great. It brought back loads of fond memories of my first playthroigh after so many years. This is one of my all time favourite games, I've played it through on each difficulty, even Nightmare - and I must say, the Alien is aggressive on all difficulties. I partly blame IGN for the game selling so poorly and not getting a sequel - seeing their review vs what I played was like night and day - but it undoubtedly led to many, many people steering clear.

I've watched a few ppl play this game but man, what a fun experience it was to go through it with you, especially cuz youre such a big Alien fan. 😁😁 I jumped quite a few times with some of your riskier plays but it was great nonetheless. Im happy you enjoyed it and am pumped to find some more vids like this to get me through the work day, yay for twitch vods~ 😆

After 15 hours of surviving, the end of the game cuts to a freeze frame of Alien 3, with the words, Fuck you! :) on screen, then the credits roll.

@@adonailr9667 Personally didn't mind the first half of Alien 3, not even killing off Hicks, Newt and partly Bishop (he "survived" for one ( kind of two scenes) scene). Sadly, the movie kind of fell apart around the halfway point where Charles Dance dies. You don't feel like rooting for any of the inmates with maybe the exception of the black guy, Ripley is not going to get killed by the Alien since she is a host, so there is nothing really there except at the very end, closure for Ripley. Its an "okay" movie at best.

Alien: Masterpiece of horror and ambience. Aliens: Masterpiece of action and ambience. Alien Isolation: Masterpiece of survival horror as a video game. I adore this game too and I'm glad you finally gave it another go. When you gave up after your first try 6 years before this, I was greatly disappointed because I knew you were missing out on an awesome experience. Just like the movies, it starts slow and you have to respect that you get the awesomeness after.

I have mixed feelings about that unpredictable alien AI mod. I mean it sound scarier but not harder. I mean if I can hide from that thing 100% of the time when it’s always haunting me, then how is it harder to just have to occasionally deal with it? I mean they say hunts harder for you but whatever. I’ll just avoid it anyway. That sounds more like a Band-Aid solution than actually fixing the problems that a sequel would hopefully do.
@sergevolosin95114 жыл бұрын
Don't think the mod's intention was to make it harder, but make it more enjoyable in some aspects. The game can become a bit grueling at times, and from personal experience I can definitely say it makes it easier, cuz I literally breezed through some of the hardest sections of this game on Nightmare difficulty with the mod on, because the Alien just wouldn't show up, which was actually somewhat enjoyable and refreshing believe it or not. Max probably would've appreciated that actually.

One of my favorite things about this game is how long things take. Actions don’t happen in a single second, they take time, and often times you have to manually do the action yourself. It all adds to the stress the game puts you through. Do you have enough time to flip a lever? Can you turn a generator off or on fast enough? Is the alien away long enough for you to save in peace? Typically Alien games are shooters, and as with most shooters, a fast pace is emphasized. Alien Isolation, however, is the exact opposite philosophy, putting emphasis on how slow things move to make you more stressed (and therefore more engaged).

2:17:00 - Oh you think that daylilght savings sucks? Wanna trade? Here in the UK it starts getting dark at 3:30, and it's pitch black by about 4:15.... and when we hit peak winter it'll be dark at 3:30pm, and so long as it's a clear day we'll have sunrise a about 8-8:30am. Yes, we average 6- 6 1/2 hours daytime in winter and it sucks. Worst memories are heading off to school at 8am - it's pitch black. Finish school at 3:30 pm and - Yes. Going home from school in the pitch black. On days when it's overcast/rainy, it's like twilight all day.

It's really patient of you Max just sneaking around hiding for long brief times just for the Alien to reroute his appearence , While there's an easy way of dispatching him or distracting him for a good brief while when throwing a NoiseMaker into the opposite side ( Or just basically toss it anywhere far for him to be busy & distracted ). This is the Hardest difficulty as the AI is more intense & roam quite frequently..... You just need to lure him out with Noisemakers , those are your best Bets against Aliens only when in Mid to Long range encounters. ( *Never use those noisemakers against Robots or Human enemies* ). As the Aliens sense of Hearing is the best in this game for its specific AI design 😅 Your safe bet against him is also Flame Thrower at close range , Try never shooting too late as he tends to swipe his Claw wiping out half or more of your HP before he gets toasted.... Pipe Bombs also works against the Alien , as if the Explosion was very close to him he will run away through the Vents reseting his AI roam depending on the Area.... I love this Hardcore Run specialy when Aliens are nearby , and in this difficulty it truly tests out your Patience dude lol. 😂🤣 *Note* : The craftable wheel you got is pretty useful , if used correctly.... But you barely use it. It actually Helps around tight situations against Alien encounters ( *Noisemakers are the best for Luring the Alien off for a brief good moments even from Far away into another Room.... the Pipe Bomb just disorients the Alien , making it escape to Vents but you need to throw it pretty close to it.... Lastly , Molotov works exactly like the Flamethrower but with abit wide area of effect on the ground after impact* ). However , Noisemakers are the most useful as it attracts his attention from very far away..... If you use your mind , you wont have a Hard time like the previous parts. But nevertheless , he will stick on the same perimeter as soon as the Noisemaker fades away 😅

I know the main character wouldn't survive it but Waits nuking the whole station kinda is the best plan of action. The alternative of 'I'll save everyone and escape and just somehow make sure no aliens are on out life crafts or gestating inside our wounded." is rather naive.
