I remember the average car payment was around $400 only a couple of years ago. I often get looked down on because of my older car compared to those at my workplace but it's so liberating knowing I have nothing to prove to anyone.

Exactly, you don’t have to prove anything to anyone. I have a 2015 Mercedes-Benz. Most ppl are shocked when they realized it’s not a new model. It’s in pristine shape, and could easily pass for a new model. I own it because I love the style and all its features. I had savings and paid it off cash. But ppl think I’m paying a high car payment on a new model 🤣. Ppl can think whatever they want , I’m smart not stupid. There’s nothing wrong with liking luxury or finer things in life. We just have to be smart about our purchases 😌

@@gracieluf424 I had a 20-year-old Mercedes - it ran very smooth - as much as a brand new car. you got that right. I paid cash. Great comfort knowing it can't be repossessed or no payments. The only problem with the Mercedes was it could be a little pricey to repair and it took premium gas. I always buy used and pay cash - many times they leak fluids - but the Mercedes didn't do that.

Bought a slightly used Fusion in 2008 paying cash. 2023 Still driving it - no problems. I always pay cash on a BASIC one to two year old car, then drive it until it's worth it's weight in scrap. No debt's including house.

Paint is crazy expensive, but they keep the cost down by measuring out paint to make it go as far as possible. If you needed body repair, I’d recommend something else.

Before you all go out to a car dealer and immediately tell them you pay it all in cash, it's a lot better to do it AFTER you're done negotiating a price.. you will probably get a way better deal that way .. The car dealers make a lot of money on the interests and they know it.

Absolutely. That's how I got my budget under control. Most people have no idea what they spend on food. Start with the grocery store then snacks at work, snacks and drinks at the gas station, junk at any checkout counter, and then the biggy - eating out!!!! You have to track every category.

My husband and I were one car for a while when our kids were little and it really did make things doable that would not have been if we had a car payment+ insurance for another car.
