If you’re a beginner to hearts of palm this recipe is perfect for you.
Hearts of Palm is used in many plant-based seafood style recipes because the texture lends itself to flaky fish or shellfish. It has a very mild flavor so can be seasoned to taste like seafood quite easily.
This is one of the easiest and most cost effective crab cake recipes around. Simply mix your ingredients and pan fry your cakes. Each crab cake is packed with peppers, celery and more.
They’re great for appetizers or a quick dinner. Classy enough for holidays and simple enough for a quick week night meal. Dress them up or down, its all up to you.

Ingredients:
1 Can Hearts of Palm
1 Celery stalk chopped
1/4 cup Green Bell peppers chopped
1/4 cup Red Bell peppers chopped
2 tbsp Vegan mayonnaise
2 tbsp Just Egg vegan eggs
1 tbsp Dijon Mustard
2 1/2 cups Panko Bread Crumbs
1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning
2 tbsp Furikake Japanese Seasoning
3 tbsp grapeseed oil for frying

Made these tonight and we loved them. My husband usually doesn’t like crab but really liked these. I had trouble with them falling apart so next time will try using less panko. Thank you so much for this recipe.

Super Duper ThankYou for this, I am from originally from Maryland and stopped ✋🏾 eating bottom feeders several years ago BUT I do miss crab cakes and you have showed me a way to enjoy the taste again without eating a bottom feeder

WholeFoods used to sell furikake, but I think they stopped for some reason... Anyway, I have to either chop up my seaweed sheets or locate a store that sells furikake to make this crabcake... Thanks for sharing, it looks delicious 😋

As for that seasoning, I would bet that the --kake part of the word is pronounced as two syllables, thus: Kaa-Kay. As for hearts of palm do note that it is the terminal bud of the tree and if harvested from a tree with a single stalk, it kills the tree. It will regenerate is the tree has multiple stalks, but that's not the primary nature of palm trees. Thus, if you can, it is a product to be avoided.

Crabs and crab meat were the first thing I gave up when I went vegan. As someone from Maryland I know this is a big surprise. However, I do remember enjoying the crab cakes and there is one thing I would suggest to make them truly authentic. Seafood like crabs and lobster also has an underlying sweetness to it. This recipe also need something like just plain sugar or brown sugar in a small amount to really get that authentic taste.

This recipe looks delicious and super easy. I am pescatarian but you have shown a lot of seafood alternatives I'm going to try. I keep jackfruit and hearts of palm on hand. I eat seafood about twice a week...this will help curve that appetite for seafood meat. 😅 On another note. I want to thank you for sharing your pantry ideas, recipes, garden, etc. I' m wondering what do you do for self care? Like shampoo, soaps, etc that are more natural and vegan. I use Alaffia Everyday Shea shampoo and conditioner (vegan) and same brand body wash. Do you mind sharing? Thanks.

Thank you for the continued support. After years in the beauty industry I realized alot of the beauty products are toxic and unnecessary. The beauty you see on the outside comes from what you put on the inside. With that being said I’m keep it simple, I start with dry brushing then I shower with an exfoliating cloth and an oatmeal milled soup I get from Trader Joe’s. I moisturize with coconut oil. I wash my hair with shea moisture products the Jamaican castor oil. My face routine includes washing with a turmeric soap I developed (I’ll probably sell it at some point😉) I exfoliate my face with baking soda and moisturize with prickly pear oil (another one of my products I’ll probably sell at some point 😉) I oil pull before brushing with coconut oil and brush with Toms fluoride free toothpaste. I haven’t used deodorant in years. I may use a lime instead from time to time mostly in the summer months. I don’t wear perfume because it makes me nauseous but a vanilla oil every now and then. That’s it pretty basic 👍🏽😊

Just recently found ur channel and u are awesome!❤ Lov ur elegance n graceful ability to prepare ur dishes and explain the products. Thanks because many of the products I have seen? But didn't no how to use, so thanks again. Funny growing up we had a Hugh jackfruit tree in our yard and when the fruit matured we would have War throwing it at each other. Yeap, never ate it. Anyway, I fail at cooking tofu? Usually hard. And not good with the dish? I buy it already prepared because of I can't get it right. I will try it recipe this weekend? Next, I want to try, veggie meat products that new in market.have u tried them? If so, what are some good brands? I eat chicken, fish, eggs and want to decrease to eggs only (I raise chickens) so it all falls in place. Thks

Hey Darryl...Thanks for your detailed feedback and thanks for the compliment. I love the story about growing up and throwing the jackfruit in play. Funny I did the same thing but with pomegranates lol. You have to try making tofu again it's taste so much better than premade. I am not a fan of veggie meat products at all. Most of them that I've tried gives me the same bloating digestive problems I had eating meat. The less process the food is, the better I think it is for our bodies. Now I am no way the Vegan police, so I'm never going to suggest anyone stop eating meat. However I think as a society we eat way too much meat and food in general. I'm here to suggest other options to add to your diet. My suggestion, add more fruits and veggies and less processed food. ;)

Just was seeing the no meat products and wondered if using them as a "go for" would work? I do buy the star veggie burgers occasionally. Do u have a book? Let me know.

Hi michelle, i tried the hearts of palms and did exactly you demonstrated. It wasn't ok. Some of them were falling apart and evenly when they were place in flour. Maybe thete another video I could be sucessful at. This is the second recipe i have tried with no sucess.

Will try it for sure, it looks delicious , but first need to find something else than "just egg". After reading the ingredients in that substitute for eggs, I just can't bring myself to put that in my body. maybe the flax egg will work. Thank you for the recipe!

you can soak mung beans and blend it up with some black salt, its basically home made justegg except cheaper and healthier. flaxseed egg should work too for binding
