Hey, I wanted to talk about a couple things that may be incorrect that I talked about in the video. The first thing is my comment on Mikasa's memory dream "happening off screen." I've seen a few of you point out that Mikasa's version of that took place in chapter 138 and I have conflicted feelings about that. In the end, though, I do have to agree. However, I don't think that her vision is exactly like what Armin's was. The difference is that her vision took place during a specific point in time and was explained how Eren and Mikasa found themselves in that situation. With Armin's, it felt much more like how Zeke and Eren were strolling throughout time-just going whenever and wherever they chose to. I'll talk about it more in a future video, but I think that Mikasa's vision has more meaning to it than it being a simple talk like Armin's was. And the second thing are the memory shards I mention near the end of the video. Specifically the Historia one. The reason I initially brought it up was because I saw a reddit comment for this chapter saying how that it was a missing plothole or something, however, after I did find some inspection, I found that the Historia shown in the shard is from chapter 130. It's a flashback between Eren and Historia that took place at some point. Either that commenter was simply incorrect, or I didn't find the correct memory shard that they were talking about. Either way, thought I'd mention that here before too many people call me out for it lol

Because this is when the plot started going wrong The idea of making the first part of season 4 about Marh and "Good" Eldians' POV was really great : the war is absurd. But then the devlopment of Eren is just swept away and this doesn't allow to understand WHY Eren choose to destroy everything, in my opinion. The fact that I don'y agree with his opinion doesn't matter in any case, I would just ask for a comprehensible explanation of why he chose this.

To those who didn't understand why eren vented and the Unanswered questions that was misinterpreted as a plot hole should read this: A selfish yet selfless and a tragic end for the 2000 year mastermind named "Eren Yeager" Let's view things in a positive way Eren wasn't actually butchered, the ending showed how a human can be selfish and selfless at the same time before they die and eren is the epitome of the latter. Well written characters aren't perfect characters as a human being but perfectly written characters are flawed like human beings who portrays and gives their readers a sense of realism to some certain aspects, even though it's cringe and lame to the readers due to the fact that eren manifested a selfish side of him that he wanted to live with his friends and mikasa before dying makes it more realistic and that's what I love about him, it added more layers to his character ever since chapter 123 and 131 when it shows that he sympathizes with the people living outside the walls. In the end the protagonist that who we taught is a chad was just a normal and flawed human being who has humane emotions nothing more nothingless, not a monster just like what he told ymir back in chapter 122, she's not a God she's just a human being maybe that's why eren and ymir understood each other, It was never butchered but this was his true desire all along as it was hinted in chapter 123 when he told mikasa "what am I to you?" ... But people was obsessed with the facade eren showed throughout the entire timeskip. The "my war" lyrics made more sense and more relevant now, "angels playing disguised with devils faces" was so accurate and its just eren putting up a tough facade. The eren we saw in chapter 89-123 was nothing but a facade all along but my dude was still hurting since he already knew what's to come, my dude put up with the great act tho, still a king taking the lelouch route even though it didn't end pretty well but it's more realistically written. Ymirs true desire has been hinted way back since chapter 122, she had Stockholm syndrome which is pretty similar to mikasa's obsession to eren but not entirely similar. Eren would've run away with Mikasa back in chapter 123 if her she answered differently, it's like an ultimatum since eren in chapter 123 was rather selfish in that moment. He's just a dude who just goes with the flow of the events, the events set by his own future self, A time paradox to be precise. -Eren killed Carla just to not create an alternate timeline. If he didn't kill her then she would've eaten bertholt thus armin wouldn't get to inherit the colossal titan. It already happened so eren just accepted destiny, it was impossible to bring his mother back so he just go with the flow of the events because he knew there is a future for paradis. -Stole the founding titan by manipulating his dad for his own convenience. -Manipulated past attack titan shifters from every era just for him to be born. People kept saying alliance surviving against thousands of titan shifters was an asspull but it really wasn't. Eren technically gave them plot armor by restraining the past titan shifters because ymir a slave in her whole life wanted to see something that she didn't get to experience and that is hat occurred in the last 3 chapter: Chapter 137 Armin presented hope to ymir Chapter 138 Mikasa presented love to ymir Chapter 139 Eren presented freedom to everyone including ymir ENDING was somewhat rushed but good at the same time The ending was pretty realistic, it was an open one. Eren and erwin was right as long as there are humans the fighting will last forever. Eren failed to destroy the world now the people from other nations plans to retaliate but the yeagerist managed to expand their military power with the aid of the hizuru nation for a preparation or contingency plan. Totally different from code geass ending but eren and Lelouchs intention is very similar to some very extent but eren died being true to himself. Eren Yeager wasn't a slave to his ideal but rather his destiny that he created for himself. Ctto

While the ideas of this chapter made sense, the execution absolutely undid all of the characterization right from chapter 1 through 138. 1) If Eren could change the past and kill his mom, why didn't he just stop Ymir from gaining the Titan powers in the first place? Why did he have to undo the curse when he control the past, the present and the future apparently? 2) How exactly was Mikasa free at the end of all this? She was left moping and thinking about Eren long after he was gone, so yay to continued slave behaviour I guess? 3) Ymir loved King Fritz. Except nothing about the characterisation from the time they explained Ymir's backstory even remotely hinted towards this. So this was another throwaway plot point which added nothing and retconned previously stated plot points. 4) Eren doesn't know why he did what he did. If the point was to convey that Eren is a slave to destiny, this was the absolute worst way to do it. This is the cut-the-balls-off-of-your-protagonist way to do it. Eren did not have a clear plan or a goal, he just did things. As if it will explain everything, Isayama shows Eren thinking about how Grisha said he is free. WHAT. Idk who was responsible, Isayama or his editors. But to deliver a chapter that almost no section of the fanbase is happy with is truly remarkable. Thoroughly disappointed, especially because it could very easily have been executed better.

Wasn’t eren just a martyr to be demonized so that Eldia could be seen as the heros? I think the whole killing 80% of the population was required to raise the stakes to the pint where Eldians would be respected to the point where conflict won’t break out. I think Armin being chosen to lead is showing how peace and understanding will always be more effective than erens approach of violence and cleansing. I think ultimately eren is a flawed character but that is what makes him likable. This chapter to me was just captalizing on the fact he wants his friends to have freedom but must weigh that with his own freedom (life). In addition, eren having the titan powers destroyed would prevent the deaths of thousands at the hands of Marley and other nations.
@reinaldomanuel84883 жыл бұрын
And you think the world won’t held the eldians accountable for what happened? How are they going to fitgh now? The 20% of the world population outnumbers the people inside the wall, and their technology is still far more advanced, the only weapon the eldians had was the power of the Titans and they lost that as well. This ending is trash.

We still don't know why Grisha gave Eren his titan despite knowing the rumbling would happen. In Paths World, Eren said to Zeke "We never got to the part I ate my dad". Grisha was in the restoration group, so any harm done to marley im sure he would be down. Plus a world without walls was the goal for eldians to be treated like people. In chapter 1 eren carved the restoration sign on the tree. So he did complete Grisha wish and the owl
@sekijokes4513 жыл бұрын
@@yujichan Yes, he was down with defeating Marley but not to the point of massacring innocent people and children. Visions of the Rumbling were what lead him to telling Zeke to stop Eren. This 180 turn from telling his first son to stop his second to wllingly passing on the Attack and Founding Titans very heavily implies that Eren showed him something that would've made it all worth it. A destroyed world with Eldians still outnumbered about 200 to 1 against the remaining 20% of humanity along with a series of peace talks with an uncertain outcome doesn't exactly seem like the sort of thing that would change this traumatised man's mind. It's even worse because we don't see the outcome of this scene. Hence the plothole.
@yujichan3 жыл бұрын
@@sekijokes451 zekes plan was extinction of the eldian race. If they stop giving birth they would no longer survive. end of aot which would of ended in the 130ish chapter. Eren plan wasn't basically really up to eren. Its more built around ymir. He had to convince her that everything he is doing is to free her and break the curse. He didnt understand even why she wanted all this. So he can only reply with idunno because he does not know ymirs full life or feelings.(he didnt understand her at all, he just knows is related to Mikasa) you have a 19 year old kid vs a 2000 year old soul who creates titans in the name of the king for love. It was also zekes plan to use the rumbling, what was his true intentions? most likely he was also going to crush paradise. either way it goes paradise was gone. We knew grisha didnt want to use the attack titan since he first got it. I do know in the paths with eren and armin eren told armin he would save the world. So my only thought is after armin does this, this is the vision eren shows grisha. Armin I think is the narrator. He also good with his words . Theres no way after crushing the world, there will be complete happiness. Even now the world is almost emty and paradise formed a military. Now if paradise was elimited titans would still exist and they would use those titans to take over other countries resources and kill them because thats what they where doing anyway. I'm not trying to justify what eren did was right. I'm just trying to say he had no control over anything he was doing. "hange is there another way tell me" once ymir he made that pact with ymir he had to do what she said. Also, I noticed eren was using the bird before he died to drop his memories or pick them up and even after. All this told me is that did the paths really close? which makes me think, if ymir is free because she saw what she needed to see from eren and mikasa and broke the curse. Is eren truly free? Or did he take ymirs place because now he cant be with someone he loves? He didnt have a good ending or closure in the chapter. I think the cabin dream was also the last memory/vision he sent mikasa before his death. But was he really okay after that? (from Armins view it didnt seem that away)What outcome was you expecting from this situation?
@sekijokes4513 жыл бұрын
@@yujichan My ending theory was this. I expected Ymir to be reborn as Historia and Eren's child and to use the power of the titans to benefit humanity as a whole. Her rebirth would mean the end of the curse of Ymir and that the true power of the Titans would be unlocked. Remember how the founder can change the bodies of eldians? I thought that this was a clue that the power of the titans can do so much more than simply make giants and that it's mainly limited because Ymir is a slave in the paths. I essentially thought that the Rumbling was a test from Ymir and that Eren's goal was to try and wipe out humanity while knowing that his friends would stop him. I thought that Eren was receiving memories from a reborn Ymir from the future who had inherited the Attack and Founding Titan after him. A Ymir who was convinced to live again through the actions of Eren's loved ones and was guiding Eren in the same way he guided his father Grisha. Hence I thought that the vision Eren showed his father was a vision of a paradise on earth through the power of the titans. An outcome that would've made everything worth it. After his death I figured that Eren would remain in the paths beneath the tree, taking Ymir's place as a self imposed punishment for all the lives he took in moving forward. Thus Mikasa's "See you later, Eren" would have been a reference to her and the rest of his loved ones seeing him again in the paths as a sort of after life. After they've all had long happy lives like he wanted.
@yujichan3 жыл бұрын
@@sekijokes451 But if ymir wanted to be reborn, wouldn't she just of been reborn along time ago? Why wait 2000 years for her rebirth? What's special about historia that would make ymir want to be reborn through her?( historias presence was never that big after her pov with ymir. I think part we was missing was, what kept ymir in the paths in the first place. So if ymir was enslaved due to her love for a man that treated her harshly and destroyed half the world and she still loved him, that would void that ending with eren and historia. They didn't have enough character interest development and much time together as characters to say they even liked each other. Also there was the effect that eren had when touching royals. There was too much missing for me to see that theory coming into play. I did see alot of people using that same theory, but I was always at debate over the fact that I didnt see eren and historia even having enough interest to even have a child together. Nor did he make any presence while she was pregnant and during her birth.( already showing no love interest in the character, a partner being there for the birth is very important and special for any woman/couple) The only focus was on armin,mikasa,jean connie levi. There was no implication showing ymir wanting to be reborn at all. After 138, I knew eren wasn't coming back so that also stopped/change that theory. but I think that is alot of why people have different sides of how it came out because of all the theories. But I always thought he loved Mikasa but didnt make any moves because he knew he was going to die. Thats been my theory since season 3.

What I have learnt over the years is that as a reader, you must never place a story or author on such a pedestal that when they fail at something in the story that you are devastated about it. It could be that: 1.Isayama was forced to change the ending very recently (as in within the last year) as you stated in the video and this newest ending has created several plot holes 2. This was Isayama's 2nd planned ending as mentioned several years ago (he initially wanted everyone to die) but he was made to change certain parts of the story along the way that interfered with this ending working well. 3. He was rushed by his editors or he rushed to end his story because he grew tired of it. What should've been 6 chapters became 3. 4.There are more genius fans out there than the author, who made connections in the story that the author did not see. 5. Fans read too much into certain characters because they connected with them more and therefore wanted them to play a special role but that was not what Isayama intended. An example of this is Historia and Eren. I did not see any romantic feelings towards her on Eren's part. To be completely honest, Eren seemed like the stereotypical shonen protaganist who did not have romance on his mind at all for most of the manga and then suddenly at the end they reveal some love for a female friend or they're married to that friend. We got an Eren who developed good friendships with the female characters of the story and really respected them. I understand that not everyone is the same but I enjoyed this manga all the way until the end, and even if the last chapter was not that amazing, I would estimate that I spent 99% of my time following this manga really loving it. I just cannot discard it because the ending did not fit what I expected.

Imma go ahead and start it #releasetheisyamacut He did mention he has a fan of GOT and this had a very GOT ending vibe. Stuff happening. Why it's happening? Idk. Ymir apparently with stockholm syndrome but she unlocked the founder for Eren with Eren shouting he's going to destroy the world. 80% doesn't really even make sense. If you're going to spare a few at least be ironic and trap them within 3 walls like they did to you. But Eren could've destroyed the world outside of Paradis. Or at least stop at 90% and give the appearance he was defeated before finishing the job. Wars would break out eventually yes. But for a time a common goal trying to be achieved by everyone is a good way to keep their minds off it. Needing to rebuild the world on a blank canvas works when there's not 20% of people left wanting to kill you for the shit your homeboy did.

2:00 Maybe we readers think it’s not the ideal freedom to kill everyone. But I think it was fitting for erens character. He has always seen freedom this way, wheter it’s humans or titans and this chapter didn’t take that route. Instead it took the code geass route wich I think isn’t nearly as good as the potential this ending could’ve had. It would have been an bitter sweet ending where the fans had to face the fact that eren has a sociopathic mindset but at the same time a burning love for thoose he cares about. That would make the line “maybe eren was right” wich comes later so much more powerful because he tried to wipe out everyone and because they stopped him the hatred continues. In summary I think that this ending could’ve been better and more hard hitting if eren didn’t pull a lelouch on everyone but instead just followed his ideas of freedom. That would also make the “this is freedom” line soo much more powerful cuz now it just doesn’t make any sense.

I loved the ending and it all made sense to me. Ymir, when seeing Mikasa let go of her love for Eren and killing him off in chapter 138, realised that, if Mikasa can go through that, she can too. Also, Eren doesn't need to know *everything*. He knows what he understood, what he didn't and what Armin asked him, he said to that - I'm not sure/I don't know - it's a normal reaction from a human being when they don't know something. Him having a mental breakdown when exposing his true feelings about Mikasa was also amazing to me, since we finally got to understand what he kept bottled up over the course of... god knows how long. We can only picture how painful it was for him to tell Mikasa that he hates her, and beat up Armin seconds after, just so he can make sure the path of what he know will be the best for every Eldian continues. Eren doesn't/can't know why Ymir loved King Fritz, after all he's done to her, basically killing her, which is when the viewer/reader comes in and tries to come up with theories/speculations. My theory as to why Ymir loved King Fritz is: She was a basic slave her whole life, but as soon as she acquired her titan abilities is the moment that King Fritz started to value her a bit more than the average slave around her. She, still being a kid, didn't get that it was in a malicious/abusive way, and that he doesn't truly love her, but wants to use her for the benefit of his own empire. She died thinking that King Fritz loves her, and she was content with keeping the titans at bay, making more and reviving some, basically ruling the Paths. Since time moves much slower in the Paths, that also explains everything - she uses (i'm pretty sure?) the sand in the paths to create the titans, therefore allowing use to it. Remember when Dina came back in season 2? Yeah, I'm pretty sure Eren himself was manipulating it so that past Eren doesn't transform and kill Dina, because that would ruin the whole scheme of his own path that he created for Eldia to be free. I heard that some people were pissed that all the other people except the titan shifters came back to normal, having given the readers a heart attack? Well, it also makes sense - Ymir let go of all titan powers and erased them, making them inaccessible to anyone. That's about it for my opinion.

If Eren doesn't know, then only Ymir does. Immagine bro, I'm Ymir, I can see the future, I have a crush, which is literally a traumatism/burden to me. I create titans in meantime, just for fun, it's kinda boring here in the path (*laugh while creating the million of titans that will serve to the plan to free me ) Finally I can see with my own eyes this poor girl decapitating his lover, "great!", *smile* at them, "time to move on I guess". I think the ending was just realistic to some extent. Eren from the beginning just wanted to get rid of Titans. Not solve the wars between the eldians and the world. He left that up to the gang to solve. It would be pretty hypocritical for him to destroy humanity when they wanted to destroy paradis without giving them a chance. I was mad at first but now I think it was pretty alright. It just didn’t hit like we all wanted it to Ignoring plot holes.
@mmallowsmallows25753 жыл бұрын
Ctto

Damn that's a really good take on it. I know it may sound bs like I'm just trying to sound smart lol, but the thought of Eren purposefully being flawed was in the back of my mind the whole time. It really does make sense, but for me, my motto for this chapter is basically, "good idea, bad execution" lol. To be honest, I feel like everything could have been done much better if we were just given one more chapter/longer chapter. But because we weren't, something like this goes over most people's heads. They don't look into it as deep as you do unfortunately. Amd although your analysis certainly shows one way of looking at it, and its probably one of the best tbh, because it goes over everything so fast, it can be looked at from a dozen different ways (mostly negative oof). That is both a blessing and a curse, I suppose. But at the end of the day, if you can view the ending from a way that you like, then Isayama certainly did his job.

Pre-Rumbling the world was comitted to killing all Paradisians and Post-Rumbling there is a diplomatic mission with the main characters and most characters having hope for the future. It's just that Isayama has a very negative opinion of humanity so this is the best he thinks his world can get to. Which is also why Eren says "I don't know". As a human being, we never really are sure of what our intentions are but we do it anyway. Yes there are simple things like "I'm hungry so I'll eat" but for the bigger things like, "what you want when you grow up?" we aren't so sure. Eren, at first, was so sure that this is the only way the world will see the Eldians in a different light (I know this because Eren pulled a big "Lelouch" route) but there are still some holes to this plan. Eren doesn't know what will happen next because he will DIE and he doesn't know what the future holds, all he knows is he did it to "move forward" but blindingly moving forward is just stupid and he learned this the hard way years ago. But right now its different, he trusts Armin and all his friends that became "the savior of the world" because of the "Lelouch" thing Eren did. He trusts them all but he still isn't sure because all this time he knew what the future holds but beyond the time he dies, he doesn't know. Armin asking the question "Why?" means Armin wants to know what is gonna lead on to this, either peace or war. Eren, as he's gonna be dead, doesn't know what will happen in the future after he dies so he answered "I don't know" but we surely can see that he believes all of this is gonna lead to peace, he ain't gonna commit mass genocide if he didn't believe his friends will achieve peace right?

I'll wrap that scarf around you as many times as I want now and for ever Yes eren did that in the last chapter ch 139 by controlling the bird So technically in a bittersweet way ,it's tragic and beautiful Isayama stuck to the theme,and promised a bittersweet ending he delivered And that is why he is the most hated mangaka of all time?? Wow fandom He even said the anime is the final product and I guess people forgot about the s2 ending ,so I am hoping they just draw a flashback in the final episode for s4 p2 ending In my opininon isayama hasn't executed the manga well but the anime he should drop that foreshadowing onto us And that is reason why I feel if the anime does that teh manga will get more respect If it dosent than a 4/10 So far since it's this way the aot manga as a whole is a 9/10 Just drop that foreshadowing in the anime 10/10 for me

i do think the ending has its issues but its not as bad as people say, over the days alot of people have been more positive to the ending and the plot holes have been cleared up WHY DID EREN KILL HIS OWN MOM?? Firstly, Carla was mostly dead anyways. Two kids and Hannes would have a terribly difficult job of saving Carla by themselves, even if her legs still worked. The logical thing to do was to take the children and run. Secondly, Eren needs to develop rage against the titans in order for him to eventually adquire the Founding Titan. Why? Eren created himself Why was Eren born, anyways? Grisha had him with Carla. But to do so, Grisha had to manage to reach the walls safe. He would have needed to inherit a Titan to do such a thing... Kruger gave him the Attack Titan, compelled by the memories of...yeah, Eren. ¨If you want to save Armin and Mikasa, you must learn to use this power, get a family, love someone in the walls¨ Eren would have literally not been born without reaching paths. In order to reach paths, Eren needs: 1)To hate titans, so that he may join the military, be ¨killed¨ in his anger by one, and just before death, trigger his Titan Powers. 2)To possess the founding titan. In order to do that, he needs Grisha to inherit it first. He compells Grisha through paths to do so. 3)To hate Dina, so that he may learn that he indeed possesses the coordinate. Why else would he punch a titan? It's a self fullfilling prophecy, it's an inescapable destiny... Eren is a slave to himself, and the freedom he wants to bestow the people of paradis. He knows this the moment he learns of the future, which also makes he learn of the past at the same time. WHHY DID EREN RUMBLE THEN? WHAT HAS HE ACCOMPLISHED ?? WHYY?? He literally exterminated all Titans. He also gave the people of Paradis a fair chance at survival in a possible future war, and made Eldians heroes *that are sent as peace envoys from the world to Paradis. The whole speech about fighting is something said by yaegerists in Paradis BEFORE the peace envoys, heroes of both Paradis and the world, reach it. Armin says to trust Queen Historia* WHY DIDNT JUST CHANGE HISTORY , LIKE NOT LETTING TITANS EXIST IN THE FIRST PLACE , ETC, ETC.... Because if he did, he wouldn't have been born, couldn't have reached paths, and thus, he couldn't have manipulated history in the first place. The timeline in AoT is linear, and the visions he provides Mikasa and Armin are alternate possibilites. The Aaron Yogurt one in particular meant the extermination of the Eldian people, and everyone in Paradis by the hands of Marley, for that matter. Opposite to his objectives BUT CHADREN WOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN SUCH A PUSSY ABOUT IT !! Except Eren has always been a deeply emotional and driven character. He has been traumatized since before the age of 10, with deep antisocial behaviour (No, kids killing 3 adult males and not caring about it is not normal), and also has been a character in constant conflict with himself. He loves his friends, but he forces them into dangerous situations by completely selfish and rage-filled wishes from him. He always got himself and others into trouble for his ideals, which he imposed on others, calling them cattle if they didn't comply. He wishes to be free, but he is entirely dependant on others for his own survival (And hates this with every inch of his body). He even willfully gives up when the whole Historia and Rod Reiss thing happened. CHADren was a persona, and we ALL knew that. Before he left to infiltrate Marley alone, he was the same Eren we knew. A little depressed, but the same. Afterwards, he made himself look like a insensitive monster on purpose, even though he showed weakness multiple times. When Shasha died, when Armin called him a slave, etc. He also wasn't omniscient in paths, he only had scraps of future memories. After all, Marley's counter attack on Paradis caught him completely by surprise, to give an example. He himself fell to weakness when he told Ramzi, or when he asked Mikasa about her feelings. He wanted to escape the fate he had built for himself, willing to let everyone he knew and love die, just so that he could spend his days with Mikasa. But Mikasa didn't tell him that she loved him, and so, he kept forward. You got zook'd by CHADren, like Connie, the literall ¨I'm kind of a comic relief dumbass character¨ himself... WHAT ABOUT THE BABY,?? WHO IS THE FATHER?? The farmer is the father. The baby was a political choice made by Historia, compelled (In the present for once) by Eren, so that the military powers wouldn't force her into becoming a Titan. Historia isn't happy in the slightest about it, but she must do so to avoid both Eren's death and her becoming a Titan with zook. Chances are she married after her talk with Eren with the farmer. She only ever loved Ymir after all... BUT THAT IS AGAINST HER CHARACTER! SHE SAVES ORPHANS! WHY WOULD SHE AGREE WITH THE RUMBLING First, how the hell was she going to stop Eren from doing it? Secondly, why did she trust Ymir, who was working with the killers who breached the walls? Love? Trust? She seemed fine with that choice, even if she didn't understand it. Also Historia does NOT agree with the rumbling at all. ¨If I don't do anything I can to stop you, I couldn't live with myself¨. Eren just tells her he can alter her memories of the conversation... We don't know if he had to in the end or not, although it is implied he didn't need to. Historia has always been rather selfish after all. MIKASA DIDNT MOVE ON!! My father died 3 and a half years ago. I'm still depressed, I still miss him, some days I wish I could hug him again. I didn't kill him like Mikasa did with Eren. Mikasa killed the love of her life, her literal reason for still existing instead of being sold off as a sex slave. She has always been in deep emotional trouble, traumatized and battered. I'll cut her some slack for still mourning the love of her life that she had to kill in a horribly traumatic event. Can't you? Does she have to be CHADkasa now too? WHAT ABOUT WORMMY? It was a parasite. It died with it's host (Eren's founding titan bodies) and with the lack of will from Ymir the founder. WHAT THE HELL DID YMIR WANT ANYWAYS ?? To let go of the love she felt for King Fritz, which was never corresponded. She wanted to see someone give up their love in exchange for freedom, for the sake of others. Mikasa did so. How could have her loved him? Well, she got in the way of that spear after all. She let him give her children. You can't simply say ¨She was a slave, she didn't think of it¨, because that's beyond stupid, as if slaves couldn't develop feelings for their masters, which has happened many, many times. Abusive as this relationships may be, they existed. Abusive relationships still exist, and believe me, people in them still love their abusers. That's the reason they go on, harming themselves in the process. WHY WAIT 2000 YEARS?? I don't remember Ymir being omnipotent and omniscient. She needed the orders from the royal family, only ones allowed to use the coordinate, as the descendants of the man she loved, to do anything. ¨My daughters, eat, and bear children, pass down this power¨ Again, I too have issues with the chapter. I really do. But stop being so dramatic about it. You are blowing things way out of proportion and calling plotholes when all anwsers are there, and made fairly explicit.

I definitely have mixed feelings about the chapter! i do believe it was a pretty underwhelming ending for such a great series, I just wish more would've been explained but i expected the ending to be open for interpretation. I just don't agree with people calling eren a simp when he showed a rush of emotions close to his death and calling the ending full on trash. Yes, the chapter needed some improvement but in my opinion it wasn't trash. I cried a lot reading it:(

As I understand it, Eren was able to command Dina to attack his mother because there’s no past or future in the paths. Everything is now, so Eren could act while it was happening. Whether that makes _sense_ is a different question.

To be clear, Eren didn't do it to be free of the titan curse. He didn't know what would happen when Mikasa made her choice. A choice he didn't even know she'd be able to make since he didn't know if his friends would survive. (His words not mine) He had to start the Rumbling and make a new land for reasons he didn't know but it's all likely tied to his father telling him he was free when he was born. Truth be told we don't know. He had to follow the will of Ymir when he didn't know what she fully wanted and in the end the titans are gone so it's all good. Whether it's good we don't fully know though. Armin's talk no jutsu is just as effective it seems so that's all right. We don't know if the main characters will be able to talk no jutsu paradise island and survive and we don't know if the bird really was Eren who gave Mikasa one final subtle "Tatakaw Tatakaw!" To help make sure she keeps on moving forward. In the end the moral of the story is that we keep moving forward not because things will get better but because we ultimately don't know what will happen if we do. Humans will still kill and enslave each other for reasons they don't fully know and that's okay because that's real life. A potent message because real life is something no one really knows much about when you think about it. "The only thing I know for sure is that I know nothing" - Socrates

the ending completely ruined Eren's character, the series could have ended in 100 other better much better ways than this one, Isayama originally planned to kill off all the characters in a dark better tragic ending that fits the series, really wish that MAPPA can bring those plans to fruition.

Hey everyone I found a video from Yuma there's a fan made video of eren surviving instead of the alliance. I got an idea guys we could just make this a second ending on eren side and the manga chapter 139 is the alliance side we can choose which one we like better. That way everybody's happy.

There's this obscure anime called MD Geist where near the end, the main protagonist -- who is a complete sociopath and not even remotely better than the main villain -- unleashes a cybernetic army upon the world that results in the near-complete annihilation of mankind -- because he'd already killed the villain and just wanted something to fight against. As TV Tropes put it so adequately: "He obliterates mankind just to be an asshole. *He obliterates mankind. Just to be an asshole.* Our hero, ladies and gentlemen." Then we have guys like Eren and Kayaba from Sword Art Online, who don't even know why they're doing what they're doing as if they just forgot -- hell, Kayaba even admitted as such, word for word. Imagine being such a poorly written character that even someone like Geist, whose entire motive is basically "because I'm an asshole", ends up feeling more believable by comparison. This is not normal...

Generally speaking this was a solid chapter. Eren was destroyed as a character (but I guess he never actually chnaged since chapter 1) but look at the bright side. Everything else was perfect, Levi saluting his dead comrades, Sasha saluting for one last time her friends, the fact that Eren had actually talked to everyone and wiped out their memories of this (let's forget how he wiped out Mikasa's memories, cause Ackermanns are supposed no to be affected by the Founder) and finally the bittersweet scene with the bird, symbolizing freedom, wrapping Mikasa's scarf and her thanking Eren. To be honest that scene made me cry, since I have been following the series since 2015. Nevertheless we have to thank Isayama for his hard work and the masterpiece he created these past 10 years. Finally I have to say something to all those people who threw Shingenki no Kyojin to the rubbish bin and just call clowns Isayama and people like me who liked the ending: just think a bit guys, you were actually worshipping the franchise and now you trash it by lowering it's rating or being disrespectful towards others? Isn't this childish behaviour a bit unfair? To me you are just a bunch of clowns too Thank you Isayama .... Shinzou wo Sasageyo!

Eren's character = slave to Ymir, sorting her freedom, killing 80% of the population for the happiness of little amount of people, and that damaged the AOT. Still the world is gonna fight and lives will be taken as everyone hates Eldians now for what they did. I only kept on reading thinking everything is happening for a reason but in the end, he was a slave to destiny and he went with the flow! I HOPE ANIME HAVE DIFFERENT ENDING.

I'm here to leave my input, as I am only here to read the comments. I HAVE NOT read the manga, but I am seeing some (thankfully) minor spoilers for what occurred in 139 chapter. I will not discuss the ending, as I have only hope from reading positive reviews and despair from reading negative feedback, so no real opinion of my own. What I do have an opinion on, is the purpose of this story, and the result it has created. Attack on Titan has always been a story about human nature. About the cycles, we go through and chaos we ensnare ourselves in, purely from clashing views. There is a saying that there will always be war as long as there are 2 humans on this planet. Agree or not, it would only be human to do either. I think, ever since season 2 resurfaced, and the following seasons, up to now (especially now), the story has portrayed human nature at its finest. And what I see as genius is that this human opinion-based reaction and action happens in the fandom as well. Picking sides, arguing about opinions and sending unhidden hostility to one another is, in a way, a reflection of the show. Of course, there are other messages and such, but this one stood out to me, the most. And now, as the story has concluded, people clash. Those, whose wishes were unfulfilled, feel despair and unbridled anger and disappointment. Others, that see it differently, feel empty, yet satisfied enough to understand. Either feeling is okay, as thet is an aim for a story- to cause a reaction. Of course, Im not saying attack on titan and Isayama are the only ones that have created such a situation, but why it shines to me, is that the story predicted its fandom. And the ending (from what I got) did not give people what they wanted the same way as the characters did not get what they want. For those that hate it, I must say to you, you are not wrong to do so. You are free to do so, as it is only human nature to hate that, what we do not understand. But ask yourself this, has attack on titan not been a master manipulation tactics to bring out the humanity in us? For those that are satisfied with the ending, seems like you see something beyond that hell. You have not overstepped your boundaries, however, as you are another example of human nature. But ask yourself this, has attack on titan manipulated, told you to feel the way you do? Ultimately, I stand in a position, where I know nothing of what you speak of, yet I long expected a reaction such as this, and I do not doubt so did Isayama. I have seen many compare it and say it is worse than GoT ending, which I highly doubt, as that made no sense and I have no reason to doubt the reasons presented thus far in the story to make sense. And like it or hate it, this is a story- a piece of art. And art is subjective... Another human trait, by the way. :)

somewhat disappointing ending, like you said, a lot questions were unanswered. Like, what happened to Ymir? Why did Eren get the Warhammer titan but didn't use it's main specialty? Why is Levi alive (this may sound mean, but I thought as a character, his role was complete after killing Zeke)? What happened to hallucenogena (don't know the correct spelling) creature? Did Eren achieve the freedom he was yearning for his whole life? And the main question: why did he do the rambling? I think it didn't achieve anything: outside world still hates Eldians in Paradis and one day will come after the island's rich natural resources. At first Isayama was planning to end the story similar to Stephen King's "The Mist". The editors told him that that ending will make the fans traumatized, so Isayama had to "be responsible and come up with a good ending" (his own words from an interview). I personally would have like the ending he intended which would have fitted the story line better, otherwise this ending does not seem to connect to the rest of the story.

Eren did rumbling because 1) It was his destiny ( " I had to") 2) To Free Ymir ( Attact Titan sought freedom ironically not for himself but for the founder ) 3) To save Paradise 4) "To protect Mikasa Armin and every one" 5) " I don't know why... but I wanted to do that" ( His own idea of freedom) Do you guys still need more reasons 😑 If Eren destroy the whole humanity outside the world then 1) Makasa and Armin had no reason to kill Eren 2) Eren had to kill the Alliance to complete Rumbling which was not his real actual goal 3) Curse of yamir continues and Yamir never gain her freedom 4) There is also a possibility of Civil war in Paradise as the military's chain of command was broken and the Yeagerists decide to kill the Voluntary soldiers of Marley and the Queen was not is a condition to control the situation. Even the common people were divided into two parts - one group supports Eren and the other opposes. As we see in the last panels that the fear of being attacked by the rest of humanity out side the wall makes Paradise a united nation. And If the curse Yamir is not annihilated then there was also a possibility of being civil war regarding the issue of inheriting the 9 titans which was happened during the time of Karl Fritz. 5) More over Eren was not roal blooded Yamir only gave him her power in the hope of being free, So it all was predestined. You may say that the ending was not satisfied as we have not get a proper conclusion. It is still unclear if peace is established or not. BUT I think that Isayama does it on purpose. If the manga ends with that peace is established, it will somehow justify Eren's action of erasing 80% of humanity for the sake of peace and if the manga ends with the war still goes on, the sacrifice of Eren Makasa and Armin and 80% of humanity will go in vain. So Isayama leaves it to the readers how they will interpret the ending. If you talk about Eren I really sympathies with his character. Personally I like the character of Eren upto season3 ( which is not a popular opinion ). Eren is someone who is always driven by emotion while taking an action, he is not as smart as Armin and not as Calculative as Zeke or Erwin. The basic primary reason of his action is always to protect his loved ones. In season 4, Eren is portrayed is a different way - a badass, smart, Calculative, apparently emotionless person who apparently does not care about his friends and does not even hesitate to hurt (Mikasa and Armin) or sacrifice ( Sasha) them to achieve his own goals. I do not hate this aspect of Eren's character but for me this kind of personality is really out of his character. Sometimes even I feel like it is another character who is also named Eren or this kind of personality is forced to the character of Eren. But at the end of the manga, Specially in the convention part of Eren and Armin, it is literally clear that Eren was always Eren, he never changed, he was always desperately trying to hide his true emotions from the others. I am happy that at the end, Eren at last express his true emotions, his true pain and his feelings of guilt in front of his best friend, Armin. But there are also some plot holes in the end and it was a bit rushed. ( For instance, How Makasa goes back to Paradise with Eren's head - by walking and swimming 🤔🤣) ALL OF THESE ARE ONLY MY OPINIONS ABOUT THE ENDING

I agree the full rumbling isn’t solving anything, but Eren not wanting to destroy the world simply contradicts the past chapters, regardless of you agree with it or not. Eren planned on doing the rumbling without knowing the alliance would exist. He told them in chapter 133 that he would not gamble paradis’s future. Thats why the fight was tense, because we thought Eren was resolved to fight the alliance. However this chapter proves Eren planned on accepting death, and this kinda makes the final battle useless.

I can see you physically cringe every time you say: "Eren, just felt like it." I don't know what Isayama was thinking towards the finale. Freedom wasn't achieved in the end. Ymir made everyone suffer because she had a lil crush on a hateable character. King Fritz? Ain't no way. Eren didn't even know how this was going to end, after his death. He was essentially gambling with everyone's lifes." He was just following "Ymir's Wish" WHAT!? Mikasa is the key? Explain. Freedom wasn't achieved. Eldians are still the scum of the Earth." Nothing was achieved! GREAT ENDING BRUUUU

We have witnessed the character assassination of eren historia and Ymir. Turns out Ymir loved the king who raped her and treated her as a slave. Turns out Ymir was introduced for nothing. Zeke died for nothing. Historia asked her platonic best friend to have a child then proceeds to fuck a faceless man. Turns out historia lied about her date of conception for nothing. Turns out eren killed his mum for nothing killed ramzi for nothing. Eren defended historia countless times for nothing. The Ymir curse disappeared out of nowhere the unkiliable worm died of screen. All of sudden eren now loves mikisa which was never shown once the entire series , but now he loves her and made her go through hell for nothing. Floch and the jaegerists died for nothing. Historia got sidelined to a whore. Eren is a shell of a man and the cycle of hate dissapered . Reiner Annie get to wal away after killing there own ppl. Turns out armins peace plan would have worked all of a sudden so eren is just a physcotic maninac. The series is ruined eren is ruined. So now eren left paridise in a worse state the cycle of hate is worse the war will continue and now they have no titans to protect them . Shoutout to the unkiliable worm teleporting to a new world along with founder Ymir who didn’t acc seek freedom she decided to make Titans this whole time because she was waiting for necrophilia

Like, sure, I still think snk as a whole is a solid story and until 5 chapters before the ending, the writing was almost impeccable. But that doesn't mean that objectively the ending wasnt bad. You can, ofc, still like it because art is subjetcvie, but it really wasnt well written.

The vision that Mikasa got from eren was in the log cabin. That was the memory she got from eren. I think it was decent ending to a cruel world. I dont think eren never knew what he was really doing.All he could do is move forward, thats what he always said. His plan I think was trial and error. The curse is broken. But is Ymir really gone? how does eren still see through the bird. Is the paths still active? lol thats my question. Im shocked the shiny thing just poof after eren died. i thought it would take longer.. but um yea ..poor Mikasa D: jean about to make moves though.
