He is not the easiest champ to farm safe at all. He needs to go in melee range and the champs that completely shit on him in melee wont spare him on those occasions. Garen is a prime example of such a champ. He is very safe to farm on if your enemy laner (despite being stronger) keeps afk shoving and you're allowed to freely farm under tower and scale

Apparently riste just starting posting videos on KZbin again. He's a very high elo Garen player and he has gone into depth before about the difficulty of playing Garen further up the ranks and where the skill expression comes from (match-up do's/don't's, macro, etc.) since the simple kit gets exploited top lane more often by higher elo players.

garen can carry toplane by himself as long as you trade correctly. hitting level 8-11 increases your sustain so much it makes standing in top for 10 minutes trading until you can hit your R a possibility.

Garen main here. Garen is a fantastic champion for newbies, simple kit and good top laner, unfortunately other top laners have better kits if used well. People say it's a no skill champion I do agree that he doesn't have skillshots but you really need to know how to play as Garen. Just because he doesn't have skillshots doesn't mean he takes absolute no skill to be good. You will certainly have terrible matchups such as Kayle or trundle (yes I did had a trundle matchup before and it was awful in the current patch) Again, it's always possible to win games with garen when you understand the fundamentals of league. If possible, if you get really good with garen. You may be able to pull wins in the high elo, well. Every champ has a chance to be a good pick you just need to know how to play with as them vs your opponent matchup.

btw champs are not skilled bcs of skillshots. Spacing is the number 1 thing you look at to say a champ is skilled. Garen doesn't have a kit that need any spacing. That's why he's prob like top 5 easiest champ in the whole game

Garen is my permaban. Cannot stand Laning against this guy. Garen mains using phase rush to stay on you + his passive for regen is just soul crushing. Even if you try to poke the passive off, you eventually run out of mana while he just has to wait. The 13.8 buffs made this lane so much worse too.

What do you play into Garen? There are quite a few hard matchups, some unplayable. Tahm Kench, Darius, Kennen, Mordekaiser, Kayle (yes kayle is hard to face especially post 6, early is bearable), Jax(if you dont kill him pre 6 its over), Olaf (unplayable like most other champs into him) and some more. Unironically just play mord and w when he gets onto you, take ghost and run garen down. I main Garen and always pick Mord as a counter, since he is so effective early with passive. (And later with rylais giving you infinite sticking combined with passive)

Nah, they're playable. You q max phase rush into darius, eventually you beat him with short trades and sustain. With tahm you need cleaver second and also short trade, sustain, kill. But versing any decent Camille is pretty much auto lose lane for garen unless jungle camps the shit out of you.

How do I play Garen against PTA Teemo building on hit like Nashor, Riftmaker, Wits End. I can't really gap close even if I go Doran Shield + Tier 2 Boots first. I think Flash Ignite, Conqueror Cloak would be good but without the healing from Second Wind I will get absolute shit on even with D Shield. I didn't die till level 8 or something when they Herald dive me but I got gapped so much CS, even when jungler help me kill him 2 times he's still double my cs at 20min

Ban teemo, teemo is the biggest counter to garen but if you didn't ban teemo and you had to fight teemo, first of all, one of the strongest things in his kit is the blind shot it's color is purple, once he shots it press w when it almost hits you, it removes ALL the damage ( almost ) and removes the blind. get stridebreaker and dead man's plate. ( dead man's plate makes you so weirdly fast, stridebreaker can be casted and does a HUGE slow for 3 seconds )
