Americans are completely doomed. I'm from the UK, I am very left wing and love Ricky Gervais. I agree with him and found it hilarious. James Acaster is hilarious too, you don't have to hate. Not everything is left or right, you turn all things into politics and it tears your country apart. Masks, medicine, guns, anything and everything tears you apart as a country. If you were ever invaded, you can't pull together and would self destruct. The "Divided State of America", you have to learn to be less hostile to others. If you look at it from the point of a visitor to Earth, Religion is the most insane thing ever conceived. Anything after that is mild and tame in comparison. BTW are you a girl with parents that hate you enough to give you a boy's name or a transexual? A girl named Brett and a boy named Sue. Just kidding.

I do think the media vastly exaggerates the amount of people who are offended by this sort of thing. They make a mountain out of five or six whiners on Twitter, and really it tends to be confused teenagers, most of whom will grow out of it and realise it was their hormones making them want to scream about something, or ugly overweight people who dislike themselves and so bitterly and resentfully project those feelings of inner inadequacy onto others.

Yeah, my 14 year old cousin got in with a group of girls who all decided that they were suddenly “Trans”. We know that they all did it to be cool, she thought it would drive her mom crazy in my view… she thought wrong. When she told her mother that she was Trans, my aunt responded with, “Really? So am I. We can do it together.” My cousin thought that she was kidding and that she was just mocking her….and then, the next morning came. When she came downstairs, her mom was dressed in her father’s clothes and had dyed her hair with the same pink and blue stripes in her hair as her daughters. And guess who drove her to school? Mom. My cousin was horrified. She kept giving her mom all the reasons as to why she was NOT Trans!!! My aunt said if my cousin was Trans, she must be too. She was a tomboy as a teen, so, yup, she must be Trans. My cousin was the one who went crazy. Poor muffin. My cousin forgot her lunch, so… my aunt had to take it to the school for her, she made sure to call my cousin to the office to get it, and there she was, sporting a moustache and a fancy new man’s hair cut…. My cousin was mortified. There were 7 girls all together, all friends that claimed to be Trans, so…my aunt called all of their moms, and one Dad, and they all did the exact same things…they all dressed as the opposite sex and claimed to be Trans just like their daughters which flabbergasted the girls. For weeks the girls gave the parents all the reasons that they could muster for WHY they were NOT Trans. The school even called my aunt calling her Transphobic, and told her that they would take action against her and the other parents for mocking their girls if they didn’t stop. Well…. my aunt’s response was, “HOW DARE YOU MIS-GENDER ME?!!!? IT’S SIR!!! I’ll bet the media would love to hear how the school’s administrators were being so Transphobic,!!” Not another word was said to her, and…she made them apologize to her in writing. By the end of it, the girls convinced themselves that NOBODY was Trans and they were quite proud of themselves for convincing their parents that they weren’t Trans either. All the girls saw the foolishness of the Trans Bully Cult….and ALL of them are now dead against the Trans ideology. As it should be. The school still tried to convince the girls that they were Trans, after they went back to normal, how irresponsible is that? This story is pretty funny….what a great idea to make these girls see the nonsense of this T-Bully Cult ideology.

People just act as though everyone online is going ape over something, when often it really isn't the case at all. You get the 'backlash against the backlash'. Often, the first time I hear that Bill Burr has offended someone is because someone has done a video taking down all the people who were apparently going wild at him. I don't think trans are a big enough group to be ruling anything. Gays have been very influential over the centuries, even whilst being persecuted, because it seems that most of our creative output comes from gays and people with bipolar disorder. But the obsession that "the right" has with transgender is more of a topic jammer, created by Tucker and Murdoch. It's not a real issue, like climate change, war, plastic, which you are generally not allowed to mention, without being shouted down, by N*zis.

It's not that comedy should make you uncomfortable (although it can). It's that it should catch you off-guard, causing you to laugh involuntarily. The punchline surprises you: sometimes with shock, sometimes with cringe, sometimes with wit, but always unexpectedly. You don't laugh because you heard something you agreed with, but in spite of yourself entirely.
@lennychorn1472 жыл бұрын
If you can't laugh at yourself, you have no business laughing about others. Stereotype comedy, has always been based on true points being exaggerated. Which can still be a bit uncomfortable, but can't deny the underlying truth to the joke. Which is what I think Brett was trying to convey. But overall, I completely agree with your comment.
@stanleydavidlepretre42412 жыл бұрын
@@lennychorn147 Yes, both John's comment and your reply are spot on. You both "get" the joke unlike the faux outrage mob who will forever be nothing more than a punchline to a bad joke.
@FreeWorldSpirit3132 жыл бұрын
Not true. Some of the best jokes have people laughing before the punchline because not only do we know what's coming but the truth of the matter of the joke. There's no one way jokes work. I think why most people fail to get the joke is because you typically need to have a sharp mind (uncommon), you need to not be self-centered therefore looking beyond your narrow views (uncommon), and be ok with not living in a perfect world. Completely supporting Ricky here. Just as an aside, I just want to say that "making you feel uncomfortable" is not a "necessary component" of comedy. I think Jerry Seinfeld is clear proof of that fact. I'm not saying he never says anything to make people uncomfortable, (nor should he be limited from, or reprimanded for, doing so) but he clearly demonstrates that it isn't required. Listen to him talk about the postal service, or buying things and putting them in storage units. Should comedians be restricted from comedy that makes someone uncomfortable? No. Can it still be comedy if it fails to make people uncomfortable? Absolutely yes. PS In order to preempt a good number of potential comments I'll just point out "that's not what I said."

Even if you guys don't like people on the left, wishing harm comes to them is just pathetic and sad. You guys try to act so virtuous and then celebrate berating people who are struggling and laughing when they get triggered. I don't get it. I don't like people on the right but I still want them to live happy and fulfilling lives and don't wish them to be uncomfortable.

@@thorneto2742 EXACTLY. I don't care what conservative people do or how they live their lives, so why do they care what those left of center think and do? They may be freaked out by stuff they don't understand, seemingly don't want to understand, and that is appearing with more frequency, but none of it is actually encroaching upon them in a literal sense.

I love the IDGAF+ community. Sums up my view on trans activists. Thankfully I suspect that the majority of real transgender people are absolutely not members of the expanded LGBTQIAAP+ community. Please stop calling me cis. It’s not a label I accept. I find it offensive. The problem is that the label we’ve been forced to use is wrong. A man who transitions should not be called a trans woman. They should be called trans men. Which is actually the correct label. He is and always will be a trans man. He is not in any way a woman.

Question: what does the last "AP" mean in your acronym LGBTQIAAP? cuz, i know one A stands (or should stand) for Asexual, but what's the other and the P?

As an uncultured swine I am, I’ve never heard of Ricky’s work, and he’s absolutely hilarious. I’d be supporting him from now on.
