Ok, I just bought this chair. I don't want to go into too much detail, but at the very first moment I was amazed by the quality of the packaging and the overall quality of the chair. Spare parts, everything beautifully packaged. For me, the chair is the most beautiful that exists on the market right now, because it is gray and has beautiful lines. The seating is comfortable!! In the reviews, they said that the limber support hits the back, but when I put it all the way down, it doesn't hit at all. Metal parts - awesome. Lots of settings, especially seat depth. The headrest is also perfect. I am 171cm height. I've used an Ikea Markus for a few years, but this is really in a different class. I'm really amazed and happy. Thank you.

I bought the Colamy Atlas (aka XK) based on previous videos here (this is kind of a repeat of a previous video about this product but with added detail) and yes, it is noticeably more solid than cheap competitor offerings, but I still wouldn't say to build up your expectations too high about it. It's still a mid-budget chair and has limited range of adjustability on all these features. The physical contact points are on the small side even if you're of average size. My legs are long for my height of 5'10" and the seat depth sliding adjustment (while really great to have) does not go forward too far, so it doesn't provide full support of the entire thigh/hamstring all the way to the back of the knee, even at full extension. You have to really tuck your backside all the way into the crook of the chair and ensure you have feet flat on the floor (or a foot rest) for proper leg support. He references this in the video when criticizing the slanted edge of the cushion. Nearly all of the surface engagement is on the gluteus muscles because the seat cushion is on the small side and the shape is basically convex (slightly rounded across the top) rather than flat or concave (rounded inward so you sink into it) like a conventional chair or car seat that conforms to you. I would compare the sensation to sitting on a Swiss exercise ball, rather than a conventional flat cushion. Not as extreme obviously, but the point is that the seat is not as flat as certain other chairs. Whether or not this is ideal or even comfortable may be entirely subjective, but I draped a folded fleece blanket over the seat for additional cushioning and reduced contact point pressure. This is only a remedy though, and if you like having the freedom to move around in your seat at all, it doesn't offer you much room to do it. If you like to occasionally sit in any position other than having both feet flat and perfectly angled forward (e.g. having one leg crossed over or under, or even sitting cross legged, or rotating the chair off angle a bit) that won't be easy on this. It's basically designed to keep a task-oriented posture, face forward, back straight, and feet flat. The lumbar support plate and mechanism are also small, and in addition to having limited height adjustment, it also lacks any depth adjustment or padding, so you cannot get more aggressive with the lumbar pad like some chairs do, and it doesn't have any cushioning against the mesh back. Best I could do was was to wedge a folded towel between it and the mesh back to provide more contact surface engagement and some additional cushioning to reduce any contact point pressure against the lower spine. Just another remedy though, not an ideal solution. The arm rest surfaces are good (no complaints about the wide and flat design or the material) but they're let down by a lack of range or an ability to increase the tension on the adjustment point to lock them more firmly in place. Height adjustment is only three inches and they often accidentally move out of the position at the slightest push, and there doesn't appear to be a user serviceable method to increase the tension on them or lock them in place to prevent that. I'd also like to see the metal arms mounted further back on the chair base so that if you want to scoot in closer to your desk and keep them high, the arms don't bang into the edge of the desk. You will notice that most of the premium brands often mount the arms much further back near the rear of the seat cushion for this reason. I ended up removing the head rest (a feature I ordinarily enjoy) because it has limited range and cannot rotate forward more than a few degrees, so it's very hard to get it down to the area just above your shoulders and behind your neck where the concave mesh shape is designed to nestle into. The height adjustment mechanism only travels in one direction, clicking upward through each stop, but at the tallest stop it disengages and falls all the way back down to the lowest setting. Not the greatest design decision; it should be much easier to make small adjustments while seated in the chair. There is no way to manually adjust downward and it's almost impossible to get it up to the tallest height without inadvertently or accidentally collapsing it back down to zero on every attempt. The set screws that presumably control the angle rotation tension are also not correctly sized for the wrench tool they include, and even after tightening them with my own tools, they did not firm up the tension much. Rather irritating design, limited rotation and tilt make it almost impossible to get it where you might want it to be. What this has going for it is that it's built better than the really cheap competition because it's made by a team that obviously understood higher end chairs better than the knockoff brands do. Just don't be fooled into thinking it's high end for a budget price. If anything, this should scare the competition into building things to this standard for this price, because there are more expensive chairs that are of poorer quality, but I agree with the video that there's room for improvement. I'd DEFINITELY be willing to pay more for a premium Colamy model if they could make everything even more adjustable and increase the range and tension of all the adjustment points, and offer more seat cushion options.

Good review. I bought this chair 4 months ago and my initial impression was its very comfortable on my back. The problem is the headrest, its agony. It doesn't sit in your neck like its supposed to, it sits in the middle of your head. Since I am tall, I don't understand how any below average height person could use a chair like this. Since this is supposedly the best chair available for this price, and I am tired of looking for chairs, I guess I will have to 3d print a headrest. The ticova headrest looks better than this but Idk where to buy one, and I'd need to 3d print a connector module anyway. I do not understand how Herman Miller thinks chairs should not have a headrest, because anyone who works more than 3 hours needs a headrest...

I just bought this chair based off this video. I have 3 complaints: 1. You’re right about the arms being too far forward, by a lot. I’m honestly thinking about re-installing them backwards to see if that helps. 2. Being just over 6’ tall, the seat depth adjustment isn’t doing it for me. I have it at the biggest setting and still I keep finding myself perched forward on the edge of the chair with too much space between the front edge of chair and the back of my knees. I think the rounded front of the cushion also contributes to this and makes you slide forward. 3. The lumbar support could go missing and I wouldn’t even know. Even pressed all the way back into the chair you can barely feel anything as far as lumbar support. A thin pad on there would definitely help. And another note, I’m not sure on the technical jargon but I think the head rest is actually a 3-way adjustment. It goes up/down, tilts, AND it has another adjustment at the base of it that allows you to rotate forward so it supports your neck even while being in a more neutral position and not making you lean all the way back to get neck support. After my first 8 hours in this chair my lower back is killing me. Going to give it some more time but might have to return it.

@@jimmyji8086 Sliding off the front of the cushion is still my #1 complaint with this chair. You just can’t get back far enough in the pocket of the seat where it’s comfortable. I started using the chair 4-8 hours a day the past month and I feel like the cushion is breaking in now and I don’t feel like I’m sliding off as much as when it was new. So the chair is still working out but another big complaint is that the dang armrests are cheap and just slide around every which way whenever I move or adjust myself in the chair.

I love all of your videos but I got to argue against buying this chair. I bought this chair back in November after seeing this video. First off, the seat pad is pretty hard especially if you are going for long hours in it. Secondly, the head rest jiggles and makes noise anytime you shift around. Finally, today my tension adjust bar snapped out from the inside and I’m now locked in at the same lean back tension. For reference I’m under 200lbs and 6foot. I also noticed that Amazon says the product is currently unavailable… 😔. Trying to see if I can get it replaced by Colamy as we speak

One thing to add: their customer service is great. On getting mine I emailed them in the evening saying the seat was damaged in shipping. They responded within an hour after box hours and expedited a replacement shipment within the next email. As a small business owner, I love seeing others have such prompt customer service. Update: I got back the replacement and same issue with the seat depth. The replacement part came with absolutely NO protective padding and box was damaged from the space of the unit rocking around. With the many parts and points of failure on a budget chair with no packaging, they’ve screwed themselves.

And for some reason the tension of how easy/hard it is to recline seems to just weaken over time and you have to turn the knob again to tighten it, no idea why it doesn't stay at the tension I've put it to (max) and there doesn't seem to be a lock feature for it so I dunno what's happening there. It's weird I just tested it, it will weaken (it's weak atm so it's really easy to recline which I don't like) and when I try to turn the knob to tighten it, it clicks as if it's max but it clearly isn't. I have to turn it all the way to the weakest tension and then back up to max for it to register? I really really don't get it lol BUT... I'm still really happy with my purchase and it's FAR more comfortable than the crap I was sitting on even though that DXRacer was more expensive lol it's a great chair for the price I just wish it didn't develop creaking noises after such a short period of time (My DXRacer started to creak after years of use)

I purchased this chair after watching this video and unfortunately I am going to return it. The build quality seems good overall, but the plastic lumbar support absolutely makes this chair a no go for me. After about 30 minutes I would feel that piece digging into my back no matter where I positioned it. I'm really not sure why they decided not to add some sort of foam or use softer plastic. The seat also bothered my tail bone after an hour of sitting. If people out there are liking it more power too ya, just not for me.

Nice, a new one! Luckily all your videos and reviews are useful - at the very least to learn how to compare and judge chairs even if you haven't covered them. Still, it would be cool if you guys have the funds to slowly start trying other offerings from around the world. Not the best for business sense, I'm sure, but you have many other countries that speak or understand English, and like me, there are also American expats you're just teasing about what we're missing out on, lol. Where I am, there are brands like GTchair, Ergohuman, D'ergo, etc. and in Vietnam there's a startup serving locally called Epione. I haven't liked most of those brands but they all have have at least one model that is pretty good. But Epione surprised me with the only comfortable mesh seat and they're feature-packed. I doubt you could get your hands on an Epione, but the other brands are more international-ish, I think. Sihoo could also take some dedicated reviewing since I've seen others like the M18 and M40's firm cushions, and considering them decent picks, though the M57 doesn't feel good to me at all bc of the mesh. (All these chairs I've tried have been between $200 and $530.) On a related point, if you still have women in the company or can hire some, we need more of their perspective - if not at least lighter / shorter people. I'm only 160lbs but apparently that's enough for me to not be able to handle any mesh seat apart from the Aeron and Epione's chairs (cheap meshes get a bad tension wrinkle at the forward edge). But my gf sits well on meshes and simply has subjective preferences on them. Anyway, keep up the great content - you've guys have been a godsend for evaluating chair and desk options. Hope you can at least explore expanding a bit as I've suggested!

@2:02. The chair DOES NOT go quite low. It doesn’t go low enough for a 5’8” person to have their legs at a 90 degree. There are many ergo chairs for the same price that go low enough and even lower. The chair seat is also undersized.

@Boge42
@Boge42 6 ай бұрын
Since you guys didn't comment, I bought aTicova with an unexpected $50 off. So it was about $120 after taxes. First impressions...meh. It's nothing to write home about. The lumbar support is strong, even on it's weakest setting. The tension in the lean is way too weak. I have to lock it or I go all the way back. The seat is okay so far. The headrest is back too far, so it's basically useless unless you're lying down in the chair. I'd rather lie down in a bed. You get what you pay for. I've always struggled to pay big bucks for a chair, not because I wouldn't use it a lot, but because it's a freaking chair. A chair shouldn't cost $1000, or $300. It's just a chair.
