Every relationship has some drama / disagreements / conflict / troubles. What healthy ppl want is someone who doesn't CREATE drama just to test you, or because they're more familiar with drama than peace and actually dig it.

Do you think it's possible that the drama could be caused by our shadow self and the reason that we recognize it is because we created it subconsciously or unconsciously... I hate drama as I'm sure everyone does (on some level) I just wonder if the reason that people experience the same relationship over and over again is that they don't know how to have a relationship with the self. I.e the jealous God is the god that we are that gets no credit for the creation that we've beheld the whole time, like who else but me would create the reality I behold with the five senses I use to simulate an experience. A creator wouldn't leave the creation but attempt to live it. I don't know been digging deep lately just doesn't make sense for the problems in a relationship to just be the other person's fault, I mean what an inefficient use of time and energy unless I am meant to learn about myself, right? @@MiCHELLEannSPIRESmasterminedAO Sometimes it's also about what people label as "drama". example: Person A labels their friend - person B as overly dramatic. When they reflect on that relationship, they come to a conclusion, that this friend is not a reliable person, B is usually in a hurry, often late and always has some sobstory to share that makes most meetings awkward. There's always some major issue going on in the background of B's life, some problem that's derailing B's plans unexpectedly and so it's not really possible to just have regular meetings for fun at the frequency that A would prefer, like twice a week for a couple of hours to make the friendship stable and less dramatic. Sometimes A wonders if the relationship is worth anything at all, maybe it would be better to just let B go, cut them out of A's life to have more peace at social gatherings? Maybe it would be better to focus on other friends? Maybe they should tell B to get their life in order and come back when they are able to make the time commitment for frequent meetups and just have fun, enjoy life, party together without talking about some awful problem every time at some point in the evening? But then A also remembers, that B is also one of the most enthusiastic and cheerful people in most social gatherings, that B is usually open to any silly idea anyone would suggest and they are able to revive a party when others are getting bored. B is also the one, who never lets others down on purpose, who is always motivated to help someone in need or to listen when A needs someone to talk to. B can also provide constructive critisism and inpirations for problem solving and emotional support, when A shares some private matter or dream. After considering the options, A decides to pull back from the friendship and only invite B over a few times a year to the biggest events, like birthday parties or summer bbq parties. now here is the perspective of person B: B considers A as one their best friends, even though A seems overly distant, cold and avoidant most of the time. B knows, that good friends are not easy to find and that everyone has some personal problems to deal with, but most people are just not that open about it. B struggles with many things in life, but refuses to just hide issues from friends, because in B's mind - friends are people who are there for you, even when life gets difficult, friends are people, who can offer active help or emotional support in times of need. Friends are there to share happy and sad news with, who are there to dance and to cry with. So the idea of meeting people to only party and play with, while hiding all of your personal struggles from them and suffering in silence on your own seems completely ridiculous to B. B wants to set a good example for bonding with people authentically, for providing help when someone else is in need and for trusting others to provide support in return. B starts to question the friendship with A after a few years, because A always seems very reluctant when it comes to any kind of support, both emotional and practical. B notices that A often gets annoyed when B shares a personal story or a problem and rarely offers any uplifting suggestions or constructive critisism and almost never does A offer practical help without being specifically asked for it, on top of that A often refuses to help even when asked. B feels like A is not a reliable friend, because A is not very supportive in times of need and doesn't even explain anything when refusing help. B doesn't really want to be a burden, so they don't demand any specific help and they don't want to be intrusive, so they don't insist on explanations when being told "no" or "I can't help you". B tries to be respectful of other people's boundaries, but it's getting very lonely when you're doing everything you possibly can to help others and are then let down by everyone when you're in need. B forgives people easily and just tries to give people more opportunities to step up by sharing other problems later on. B is getting more lonely and depressive with time, especially after meetings with people, who are not emotionally vulnerable and interested in authentic connections or responsive to other people's needs. B is trying very hard to maintain the friendship with A, even though their life is slowly falling apart - they never refuse an invitation to go out for a beer or have a coffee, even if it's not the best time for them and they have to cancell other plans last minute. B agrees to meet with A, even at the expense of their productivity at work the next day. B is willing to cancell a family visit in order to keep the friendship with A or to take a few hours off when they have to pack their things in order to move to another flat or to risk failing a job interview the next day, when their oldest friend A wants to meet up, because friendship is very important to B. Background: Person A grew up in a stable environment with supportive and reliable parents. Serious issues could always be solved with the support of parents and other relatives, so friends were seen as people to relax and party with, to have fun and not think about problems. Person B grew up in an unstable environment with abusive or neglectful parents and relatives. Serious issues were never really solved or addressed properly within the family, so problems would pile up and reach some kind of breaking point after a while, resulting in sudden unwanted changes. Family was seen as a source of suffering that has to be tolerated and friends were the only hope for a genuine connection, care and support.

@@Seamannon Thank you for this well-written comment, it really describes the dissonance that happens when people with different upbringing try to get along ❤ I would like to add a little note that both people seem to have communication problems, A & B not sharing feelings enough but going through it all in their own heads. Person A might have had an outwardly safe home environment but feelings most probably have not been as acceptable to share or have. Rather, one's feelings are a cause of the other person's exaggerations in this case, simply because Person A cannot put themselves in other people's shoes or/and Person B exaggerates for comedic effect (defense mechanisms). I believe this is a huge problem, people in general not wanting to communicate difficult things, just as person B mentions as important but might be overdoing. Unfortunately, many times the oversharer becomes the problem rather than the "cold" one in at least according to 'western' values... Again very interesting example, thanks!

I agree, you summed it up perfectly. The word love is so conflated and abstract, yet I tend to think that sense of security is what a relationship needs and for me love is that. The consequences of the patience and respect you described from letting your partner work through their growth and challenges is secureness and security...and eventually inner peace because in a setting that is secure you get to be vulnerable knowing that your vulnerability will not be used against you.

Internet dating doesn't help with this. I've noticed that people under let's say 35 often have the attitude that whenever they run into some relationship challenge, then they don't sit down and have a conversation. Instead they just dump the person and then arrange a new date via the internet, and on they go. That makes people feel really disposable.

When you say relationship I'm thinking you mean romantic/love/partnership. I realize that relationship is anything/anyone. I'll speak to the first. Once I stopped putting my identity and self worth onto that relationship and started focusing on my relationship to self (even in others, recognizing we are truly all one) things have been much better. I have now been working on my relationship to my (inner) child and my highest self. Ty for all your work.

I think that's the heart of what the Landmark Forum teaches about "taking full responsibility for the relationship." It's not that you need to do all the work; it's that you are a stand for the values you want to share and against that choose not to throw out the whole thing over one conflict. And if you do choose to leave, that's also ok, but be aware of exactly why that's the reason to leave and that you exercised a true choice rather than making the other person wrong to justify what is simply your choice. . . . I once broke up with an alcoholic with the reason that I was the one lacking the skills to cope with his habits. It felt SO good, actually, and left me with no self doubts or pain.

This video does a good job of pointing out that it isn't all about communication. That man can communicate clearly that he is not willing to give up his video game time and his partner can communicate clearly that they aren't happy with that. What Teal Swan points out is that one needs to decide for themselves what they are willing to accept and deal with or not. This cannot occur through communication with others. This can only come deciding who that person wants to be.

The greatest happiness in life for a husband is to have his wife's support." "Holding Hands" is a term in the Taiwanese dialect means a marriage relationship where the couple will hold hands and spend their lives together. Contrast, in my life it's more about nuances. I follow a central uncontrasted pillar of Love, the One state of Being that is not defined by an opposing force. Sure, some try to oppose it, but whatever you call it, hate fear, it is still Love, just a little or a lot less of it. WHen, you meet Love (and to be clear, I am not describing carnal love here) you will know it's force, and recognize no opposition

If someone is feeling down, sick, had a bad day and it’s someone who has previously proved themselves and is something we love then we all need to exercise patience. If someone is hiding you from friends and family, allows you to wash up after dinner but don’t do the same for you, gives selfish sex, is cross when you ask for equal effort and says you’re selfish and over sensitive for having boundaries then these aren’t just human foibles that can be overlooked. They’re red flags dripping in radioactive waste. Get out.

So, we have to pick our poison, right? I understand that...your messages are so important because there is a large amount of people who want to preach that anyone can work with anyone and while I understand that to be true in theory, it rarely works in real life. Some people like nothing about their partner but still persist because of the idea of remaining committed. I think the idea of having a primary deal breaker and making the opposite of that what one looks for in relationships (while understanding there will be lesser problems in other areas) is a great one.

Irrevocable contrasts: Partner who shames, explodes in rages and smashes household objects rather than communicating via conversation. When one of partners lacks curiosity and acceptance about the contrasts and leveraging them for mutual growth, while the other is the very opposite. Partner who withdraws or is affectionate at random and doesn't recognise this behaviour in themselves. I can handle a great many other contrasts, but couldn't handle these. Btw, I too am a random withdrawer - but am curious and learning to shift this.

As much as I would agree with Teal on many points… this one I do not… because as I observed many relationships that have TOO MANY contrast elements… those relationships do not last very long. And marriage ends with divorce, which the rate I believe now is one in three. I believe when a couple gets together, it is based upon common interests and values… what they enjoy doing together. But if conflict is about where “things” should be, go, or done… that should have been dealt with before they were married… those things are trivial.

My point of contention is that little girls of my generation were fed the fantasy of being saved by the prince, ir the knight in White Armour, and of course love happily ever after 😢

That,s just one, and based on, the, enough" state - I achieve or own or find someone or smtng, and then I will be enough, and when I'm happy ever after. And after whatever state is achieved... boredom sneaks in. That prince or princes does not love me right or enough and they could just make some little effort and then i would be enough. Then come, children, - if they would just do what I tell them and listen to me how to live their life correctly - then they would be enough too :) Process is funny, but people suffer so, it not nice to laugh about it

To me being saved is having someone who'll help me fold the washing and pick up the vacume without being asked. What does being saved mean to you? Find that out and look for a prince that meets that need.

What? Since when have we all been taught that every relationship should be perfect and without conflict? I mean I personally have never been taught that at all. There will always be negative in life, nothing is perfect, nothing is all good and no bad. The same applies to relationships and marriage. I cannot believe that there are any rational adults who actually believe that something can be perfect.

@@LeahBreHappy To be specific, I will never have another romantic relationship. Being alone is second nature to me, but its familiar and constant field overrides the feelings I once had for a romantic relationship.

@@demonicaxeman7264 Yes! Right there with you! I won't say the crud statement of, what you get is not worth what you get. But it's been my truth. I'm content with the relationship with myself and the flora and fauna. I've had more than enough trauma for five lifetimes. ✌️💪🐶

The only relationship I consider important is the one between my ego, and my outward expression. My desire has always been to cultivate a outward expression that doesn't feel like choosing, and completely animalistic in a benevolent way like holding lightning
