I am so glad u feature them in this video.... it's long overdued that they deserve this recognition. The bak kwa is cheap and good, service is commendable too as a small set up. To me, this is the true spirit of social entrepreneurship which strives to bring affordable quality products to the masses which previously was not that accessible due to excessive pricing.

I'm so glad you're featuring this brand! I definitely love their bak kwa! I'll always get their traditional bak kwa at their AMK outlet. Reasonably priced and flavourful!

the first thing I always do when I arrived in Spore is head to people's park to buy 1kg of Bak Kwa, and then buy 1 bottle of red wine. so that I have my favourite snack in the hotel room later in the evening, while looking out of the room window or just watching the tv. 🤤🤤🤤🤤

Their prices still maintaining at 13 for 500gm and 26 for 1kg. That's amazing in a year of crazy inflation, interrupted shipping and increasing energy costs. Compared to the other competition like fragrance and BCH I rather go buy from peng guan. It taste as good as them if not better at a much affordable price

Doing some research on the ingredients for bak kwa. Soy sauce, normal pork meat, honey, salt, oyster sauce, Shaoxing wine and a few more readily available ingredients. It's really not expensive; ingredients-wise. I just think its branding and the perception that bak kwa are given as gifts. Would love to see new vendors really compete with the big boys by lowering their pricing by half like Peng Guan.
@RangKlos2 жыл бұрын
In itself Bak Kwa is a heavily processed food so I wouldn't worry much about pork cut. It's the end result that counts. Great discussion as usual Greg.

@jokerholic24222 жыл бұрын
Could it be cheaper because of lower rent? Food court rent should be lower than a whole store front?
@ustradingdiary2 жыл бұрын
I think so. The cost of ingredients is not expensive. I don't think they cut corners. I believe whole industry use similar cut. And they don't have high rental shop front. And normally 1 or 2 staff probably reduce their cost of operation. Of course just my guess. Just eat occasionally will do.

I think this reviewer's concerns about the brand being too cheap and possibly using inferior cuts could be unfair as he did not seem to take into account the obviously lower operational cost compared to those of the bigger established brands that are typically housed in aircon malls (not to mention that these usually employ at least 2 if not more staff at the shopfronts; whereas PG is usually a 1-man show at their outlets).
@iceomistar4302 Жыл бұрын
Also Bak Kwa is processed anyways, it's got so little resemblance to real meat anyways so I don't know what is bothering him

You assume the low cost product uses cheap ingredients but never occurred to you the higher cost product also uses the cheapest ingredients too after all they both are trying to make more profits right… typically lower price means more sales so they sacrifice profit per unit but sale twice as much hmmm makes sense to me
