I learned a kinda similar very awesome entry to this submission from braulio estima's lapel cradle instructional, they try to defend the cradle setup by rotating their knee outwards and it sets it up pretty nicely

Hi Brandon, I like the idea of the Estima Lock and have been playing with it a few times over the years. The one issue I run into (that always makes me drop it again) is that it seems to be hard to control the position long enough for a slow finish, which makes it hard to use in training without the danger of injuring training partners or risking panic taps. And without training it properly it's hard to build confidence to pull it off vs strong opposition in competition. Am I wrong in my assessment that it can't be finished slowly or how do you deal with it? Thanks for the video and all the best!

You’re 100% right. In the beginning you won’t have the control needed to hit safely. You gotta have really good guidance to learn it well. Or you can do what I did and be a really butthole while you learn it. This was old Brandon and I have matured 😂

@@colemanhotep never let your foot cross the hip or rest there with your toes leading the way. Personally, I won’t play any position that could allow an Estima lock. They scare me to death. I’d rather get my guard passed and work my way out.
