Tom & Dave, I definitely think the Federal elections have a strong impact on the politics of a state. I have lived in Washington State for over 40 years, and I have observed our government (very blue for a long time now) becoming more and more radical and imposing/controlling. The rate & breadth of that change has vastly increased the past 4-6 years. When you consider what the Biden administration has gotten away with and you combine that with a more radical Harris election, I think the blue states will be emboldened to remove what little brake is left in accomplishing their totalitarian goals.

"We're bringing on some of the sharpest minds." _brings on Dave Rubin_ At least now I know that I can't trust your determination of what constitutes "the sharpest minds."
@johnekopy26 күн бұрын
Why is he not sharp? He’s doing well for himself financially, and appears to be pretty happy. Most of what he says, makes logical sense. We’re leading up to the election. What’s Tom supposed to do? Bring on a bunch of high IQ professors, doctors and lawyers and get their opinion?
@cloudoftime26 күн бұрын
@johnekopy 1. I didn't say "he's not sharp." I criticized the claim that he is one of "the _sharpest_ minds" in this area. He is a biased political commentator. He claims to be moderate, but if you listen carefully (it honestly doesn't even need to be that carefully) you can see that he only criticizes the left, in an exaggerated way, and he never criticizes the right. This is not "making logical sense." He also appeals to the preferences of one side. This is also not "making logical sense." And someone being happy and moderately successful in no way indicates that they are one of the sharpest minds. This is, again, not logical. 2. Yes, if Tom claims he is bringing on the sharpest minds, I would expect him to bring on experts. Not biased sociopolitical commentators.

Half of your listeners disliked Rubin, but a little disagreement is very important. It is important that people like Rubin hear Tom, and that Tom's listeners hear Rubin. And I've heard Tom say similar before: "The sour disgusting realization" is "you have to give up on adults". Be admirable to children and teach them. I think that's how progress has always occurred, as with Jim and Huck. And yes, Tom, "catch the problems upstream". Catching them as they fall over the waterfall is pure madness. Congrats to Tom on this conversation. I've long admired Sam Harris, but Tom is much more interesting now.

Just an FYI and this is a good one guys - After I got out of the Army and I had multiple deployments in multiple wars or operations I spent 10 years in Iraq with the DoD and DoS - and yes my prime PMCS was Blackwater - There was ZERO or 000.000 DEI hires from either party put in their protection details when they were in charge. Can you imagine a U.S. Ambassador, Senator, VP or a General in a combat zone requesting that we make the protection detail 50% female or 50% latino or Chinese or 50% black or white or 50% LGBTQ or trans or how about 50% senior citizens or 50% of us have total disability??? (that's equality of outcome not opportunity) Lets just think about that for just a second. Never once did I see a female put in a position like mine NOT ONCE NOT EVER! What the protectee's wanted was THE MOST COMPETENT!!! Oh we never lost a client! I did lose a lot of friends and comrades. And a lost a bit of myself.

He does not understand how government debt works. First, China owns only about 2% of U.S. debt. China owns $770 billion, while the total U.S. national debt is $35.8 trillion. Second, it's not a singular debt but a collection of millions of small obligations, each with its maturity date. We regularly pay interest on the debt. A country cannot just "call in" the entirety of the debt, as each small piece of it has it own maturity. A country may stop lending new money/buying our debt in the future.

China only holds $800 billion of US debt. China's holdings of US debt has also decreased over the past decade. They have been selling US holdings, but they cannot dump them all at once for multiple reasons: 1) the yuan is tied to the US dollar and is dependent on its value; 2) maturity dates of the bonds. Furthermore, China is not the largest foreign owner of US debt and it's less than 10% of _foreign_ debt. The debt held by China is not as serious of a concern as pseudo-pundits attempt to make it seem.

When analyzing the speeches of Donald Trump, I am struck by the unique portrayal of the American identity. The multifaceted nature of this identity, encompassing both inclusivity and exclusivity, is a key aspect that defines the strength of the nation. Reflecting on my personal history, with roots tracing back to Indianapolis, Indiana, where my ancestors were actively involved in significant historical events such as the Indian wars, the Civil War, World War I, and World War II, I am reminded of the rich tapestry of American heritage. On the paternal side of my family, there are also stories of individuals who fought in the war of independence, some of whom eventually resettled in Canada as British loyalists. Having spent a considerable amount of time in California, where my sister pursued her education and decided to settle down, I have always taken pride in our American lineage. It is disheartening to hear the divisive rhetoric espoused by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, especially considering that every individual in America, save for Native Americans, can trace their origins back to immigrant ancestors. The foundation of America's strength lies in its history of immigration, a legacy that continues to enrich and strengthen the nation. The derogatory comments made by Trump, along with his abhorrent behavior towards women, are not only inappropriate but also reflect a disturbing lack of moral character. It is my hope that the American people will see past the facade of this individual and reject his candidacy for public office.
@Jax13176 күн бұрын
Large of swaths of Americans are still tired. Critical thought has been dramatically reduced over the last 15 years. The only way to gain a “mob rule support base” is with black and white and/or exaggerated colorful statements. The dnc took this for granted and doubled down since the end of Obama’s term. Enough aggressive political rhetoric mixed with identity politics combined with a long pause (Covid lockdowns) created what we have today. Trumps only skill is coercion. A mix between disbelief in msm and his remarkable coercion created this. Red or blue there is no honor or integrity.

And, compare that the twitter, media noise machines, and outlets that are actual journalism news outlets. Meaning: If I lie/misinform/deceive in my words or reporting, will my organization hold me accountable. Example: Dan Rather CBS, NBC's anchor, etc. also, give us some examples of talking heads that have a process and mechanism of holding them accountable, or if they just spew what they want and fact/reality checking does not happen. Would LOVE to see this. Not one side, but all sides. Example:: Reviewing the things that guests say and compare to facts and past statements. This is fertile crowd to identify bullshit. And identifying bullshit nowadays is shooting fish in a barrel. All sides. this forum can gain credibility doing that. Governments are intended to diffuse conflict, and it accomplishes this by normalizing the organization of people it serves. Different and new types of conflicts arise as populations grow and generations cycle, and as conflict arises, the population delegates responsibility and authority to enforce the new rules to the institution so it can diffuse the conflict. If you have doubts, just go back to the first two families who introduced a third family into the community. Third party mediators. That’s how and where the institution begins. Hopefully it anchors principles through Rites of Passage; otherwise, It’s bandaid solutions from there.

43:38 Tom it’s not just what Jordan P said(messiah complex), Tony Robbin’s came up with a masterful framework called the 6 human needs a long time ago, which can be used to understand and help people quite profoundly. But what you’re alluding to is the human need of contribution, and when that’s not met in some way and you feel useless it can really affect someone’s psychology. Which is why when America lost so many factory jobs or like have you ever been to a coal mining town in West Virginia? The people there after the mines closed down are so demoralized… It’s rough..

Which Also quite lends a lot to DJT’s growth focused plans like bringing back Americas labor force.. it really starts to come together on the roots of what’s really rotting America from within each American.. and coming together with RFK to tackle Americas health.. it’s hard to deny which path is really focused on healing America from all its ills one step at a time.. I don’t feel I’m sacrificing any of my independent mindedness by supporting Trump at this point. No matter how much I despise the two sidesism, simply because the rep party is finally willing to change and grow while the left has stopped growing and started dividing far too much.. I’d prefer third party options, but I refuse to be a fence sitter in the face of what happens if good people don’t act and let things continue the way they have.

(2:65) And you know the case of those of you who broke the Sabbath,how We said to them: “Become apes, despised and hated.” (2:66) And thus We made their end a warning for the people of their own time and for the succeeding generations, and an admonition to the God-fearing.

I completely disagree with Dave's premise of some sort of early on 'complacency' as the reason for GenX not taking responsibility sooner . The true reason lays in the huge new world called 'Internet' that opened up exactly at the time, when the Amiga Kids started to walk on there own. It was that new world, free from broken boomer regulation that became the home of the better half of GenX and possibly even Y. Perhaps, when it became obvious that the old world was utterly broken, we all should have done something. Unfortunately it was so much easier, with all that Internet money, to buy our way out of it.

After listening to Trump last night in AZ squiggle around where he'll put Bobby Kennedy Jr. (Or not going back on his word) I might just vote for Bobby. I don't get why he would act like he's bringing him on to unify and then hem and haw about Bobby's role. Trump turned into a politician quick like.

Apparently it doesn’t matter how many times someone denounces something and says I have nothing to do with this, I don’t know much about it, but it seems radical, and it doesn’t matter how many times the actual founders say he has nothing to do with it, so long as the media puppets and deceptive leaders just keep repeating “Project 2025” over and over people will be their blind echo chambers. It’s insane. He literally couldn’t denounce it anymore than he has.

Unbelievable that Dave thinks 50 percent of Americans are confused and mistaken about why they don't like Trump who BTW has NOT "cleaned" up his language recently. It has only gotten worse. If Dave cannot see the glaring differences between the quality of Trump as a person/leader and the quality of Harris then he has totally lost my respect for his judgement. Just stunning and depressing how someone who should know better is in such obvious denial. A scary reality about the fallibility of humans.
