I’m editing a video that I just shot on the C100. I love this camera! It has been an excellent upgrade to my kit. I spent hours across months on KZbin trying to figure out the best way to “build out” my EOS R for video projects. And I kept thinking that after all that effort and money to turn it into a “cinema camera” why not just get a cinema camera! The C100, because of its price point and all those pro features, made the most sense for me. It was a really good decision. Thanks for sharing this!

Also, I believe the camera can shoot in 60i and be converted to 60p in post.
@ArcanePath360 Жыл бұрын
But the EOS R is full frame. Don't you miss that with a Super 35 sensor? You aren't getting the full benefit of your lenses, only using the middle part and being cropped in all the time. This is the only deal breaker for me in getting the C100 and replacing my 6D
@jerry.cray_II Жыл бұрын
@@ArcanePath360 my goal is just to tell stories. I don’t care about the full-frame debate. Any advantage would be negligible at most and indecipherable at worst. Sensors are so great these days that it’s impossible for an image to not be impeccable. The proof is in the production. I’ve upgraded to an even smaller sensor now, the bmpcc4k and my images and capabilities in post have increased significantly.
@ArcanePath360 Жыл бұрын
@@jerry.cray_II I hear what you are saying.... I have a Canon R7 which is a crop, and the videos on another level compared to my 6D which is FF. It's not a debate about sensor quality, what I'm saying is that for one thing, you are stuck being cropped in, so your 50mm lens becomes closer to 85mm, your wide angle becomes a 35mm etc. In my case, where I shoot inside with limited space, I need the full wide angle on my lens. That said, my 6D's are showing their age in terms of poor quality at 1080p compared to my R7. I'm still considering this camera but the cropped in factor hurts, which looks similar to 1:6. On my R7 I have a wide angle zoom (17-35 L) which often isn't wide enough. My 20mm on my 6D is a real benefit here. I guess I could get a speed booster for it, but they have their own problems and are expensive.

As a vfx artist on 40+ films and about 20 TV shows, I think a lot people would be surprised to know that a lot of TV shows today are shot in HD. Seriously. So, the C100 could still be a good choice for straight up filmmaking.

I have had this camera since 2014 and I love it! I also sent it to Canon for the autofocus upgrade... so if you're buying one not all of them have that feature. Actually it will shoot 60fps (or 50) in 29.97i so you have to de-interlace the footage afterwards which is a bit of a pain but is a good work around. You can also get 10 bit footage out of it by recording straight to an external source through the HDMI. I use my Atomos Ninja then you get the full dynamic range in 4-2-2. I even set it up as a full rig with that running it on a ronin M1 by taking the camera to just the body and balancing it... putting the mic and monitor on the rig. So there are work arounds to the downsides of this camera. It really is a true value for what you'd pay now. I definitely agree!
