Its not against Buddhism or "Vinaya". Plus they are already married when this video was captured according to the speech of the venerable thero. Even in Sri Lanka we go to the temple as a couple after the marriage ceremony is done. Here only difference is being present at the church. Correct me if I am wrong.. 😊

Sadlyy for the next 50 years to come in srilanka soil the srilanka catholic church will never allow this nor with the srilanka buddist priest come to this wedding ceremony as it's not done by a buddist priest but it's a elder that perform this wedding ceremony here in srilanka .... out side srilanka yes but not in srilanka n soil ...not to mention buddha left his wife and children to attain nirwana buddisum means letting go of everything .... house wife husband children to live in nature ...not even temple ...only trees rocks sun moon water in nature ....to attain nirwana.... marriage and home family has no part in buddhist culture nor buddisum ...one let's go of all worldly procession ownership even parents wife and children ...... .so I don't know what this buddist priest is saying ....not clear.....when you go mix two cultures you have to be careful....on the catholic side your vows say you will accept children in this marriage and raise them in catholic faith ....you also say you believed in one god the father almighty maker if heaven and earth.....then in-between that there is buddist culture brought in....in the end it's a very strange mix ....it's niether buddhist nor catholic....that's why I say you have to carefully analyse this ....you can have one ceremony in the church leave and do a buddist ceremony ...somewhere else ......but mix the two cannot be done.... buddhism and poruwa also is a contrast poruwa is pathini puja or kanya danna that's hindu religion.so I am confused as to what this buddist priest says in this wedding.
