I've had Psoriasis since I was 6 months old and spent periods of my life in hospital wrapped in coal tar bandages. Having tried most treatments and my skin being almost 90% affected, my dermatologist finally suggested biologicals. I started on Humira and wow what a difference! Within 3 months I had totally clear skin and I had my life back. Sadly, after 6 years of Humira, it suddenly stopped working for me & I tried an alternative biological- sadly it didn't work. I am now on Stelara and completely free of Psoriasis for the past 3 years. What works for 1 patient may not work for another. However, there are lots of biologicals now, it's just a matter of finding 1 that will work for you. What you see on the skin is only a small part of what is going on inside you. Psoriasis can affect your other organs and also your joints. Psychologically, it can destroy your confidence & your normal life. Biological drugs are not without side effects but the risks are small compared to the benefits they can bring.

Thank you for sharing your perspective as someone who lives with this condition. It’s so important that people know what works for one person might not work for another. (And this isn’t just a matter of moisturizing.) Or more importantly, that those suffering with this condition know they’re not alone, and know there’s help available. Yes, biologics- like any medication or treatment- comes with its own risks and potential side effects. And some medications or treatments may stop working after a while. But fortunately there are now several different medications & treatment available… so don’t give up trying to find what works for you. I’m so glad you didn’t throw in the towel when one medication stopped working for you.❤ Thanks again for sharing your experience.❤

@@hamana9842 It is a type of drug called mono-clonal antibodies. Basically, an injectible drug, designed based on the body's natural antibodies- for psoriasis, which is caused by an immune overreaction, these antibodies target some of the signalling chemicals that the immune system uses, and stops the inflammatory process. They are quite a new development, and can be expensive, but depending on where you live, you might be able to talk to your doctor about getting on the medicine :) good luck!

Hello, I have had plaque psoriasis for 40 years now. Lower legs, core, underarms, ears, scalp. For a long time i had UV treatment every 2-3 years. But i maxed out on that. Only other thing which made it go away is taking daily cold showers and no more hot/warm water. Please take time and look in to the effects of cold exposure to the human body. It has effects on both stress relief and also the (daily) release of all kinds of natural stuff like adrenaline and dopamine and stuff that is anti-inflammatory. This daily dosage is what will start the healing proces. There are hyped youtube videos about it but the is also good information. Just look through that. I know cold showers is a very hard sell. I actually started in spring this year were shower water was not that cold (15°C). Now it is around 5°C and i ,can understand that anyone will have a hard time keeping this up, without seeing quick results. In my case it took almost 30 day to see clear results. And now after 6 months my psoriasis went from +20% body covered to less than 2%. It is very acceptable. Only the scalp remains issue. Now more feeling the dry tearing skin, dropping scales all over at home and the workplace. Feeling frustrated. I hate taking the showers. Everyday is a challange. But it only takes 2 minutes to beat that. The reward is immense. Please share this information.

I used to have psoriasis bad. It was a tough way to live. Nothing really worked except Taclonex. Taclonex was a cream that was criminally expensive. Then, my dermatologist was able to start using biologic injections. The change was so remarkable! I get a Stelara injection every 8 weeks. There are also other biologics that work equally well. Find a way to get lined up with one. There are programs that make the cost minimal. The change in your life will be indescribable. I got left with some hyperpegmentation, but I don't care. It is sll so much better than what I had!

I have issues with my Lymph Nodes and the testing hurts. It so much. I am getting another CT to be sure it isn't cancer. Those 8njections I get are biological. I noticed after my 2nd injection my skin is amazing. Few areas, like my feet, have not been with the program! BOL can't wait for my 3rd. It finally gave me hope. It is an injection every 2 months and in Canada we get free medical, and in some cases like me, on Disability I get covered for my meds. They are so expensive. Dermatologist don’t tell you is we have to treat the root of the problem which is to detoxify out all the toxins in our bodies. Biological Injections are just a band-aid covering up the underlying problem within our bodies. I’ve got psoriasis and it usually flares up in winter. I thought the main reason was a lack of sunlight because when I would sun bath, in direct sunlight, it’d end up vanishing. But this year I’ve tried just taking tablets. Vit D tablets on their own don’t work. So I take them along with fish oil tablets, general vitmain, and one specific for hair, skin and nails. Seems to have stopped the psoriasis and actually put it into reverse. Also, it’s worth noting I’m Indian, hence why sunlight was an issue cause I live in Britain. Hopefully that helps others, maybe something worth trying. It should take about a month, just make sure to take them everyday.

I hope she gets the help she needs. ❤

I'm glad for her getting the help she needed and that she was in the UK. In the US, you'd have the insurance company tell you you have reached your lifetime limit on the medicine in a few months and therefore they would no longer pay for it. Then you would have to sell a kidney to continue treatment. I had an insurance company tell me I had reached my cap on a class of drugs that I had never taken before.

I had a drug reaction from Antibiotics. The skin was like this for about 6 months, NHS gave moisturiser which made it worse !! So i got a wax which held the skin together, but there were piles of skin daily, change the sheets daily, vacum the house all the time. Mentally when your skin is falling off it does destroy you soul. Thankfully its cleared but its a very misunderstood disease ! Had to use a kitchen knife to scrape top off the skin to relief the itch ! NHS refused any medication to treat it !

I love watching these videos, and this one hits hard because if I didn't start on a biologic I could have been in this situation. Last year I started developing large spots all over my body that weren't going away with creams or anything, and I couldn't wear my favorite clothes without feeling itchy and disgusting. My dad even saw my back while I was wearing a swimsuit and said I looked diseased. I am so glad she got help and I am so glad I did too.

I cant wait for my bio treatments. Ive had psoriasis since i was 12. Going thru high school being bullied saying i have massive dandruff when its psoriasis taking over my scalp. My treatments were creans but didnt help and i had to tolerate the mental battle thru my school years. Without me noticing much it started to spread little by little throughout my body and now 17 years later my legs are full of it, my back and my front body. The psoriasis score was 32 which isnt as bad as her but its really mentally and physically draining having this condition. Every minute the itch is unbearable. My skin sheds are ridiculous and blood stains all over my clothes, sheets is annoying. I got charged by a motel for having blood stains on their sheet cuz it wont come off and those things i cant control when i sleep :(. I had to go thru 2 different treatment first before going to bio therapy. But the 2 treatments which are photo therapy and oral meds aren't effective. It lowers my score from 32 to 30 after 7 weeks of treatment which is well not working lol. So my first treatment will start in 2 weeks and im excited

Why didn't her GP refer her to a dermatologist? I got referred when my psoriasis wasn't nearly as bad as hers. She could have been on meds that would have helped her years ago. Methotrexate, skilarence ect. I've tried every cream and lotion, only the pills have had any affect.
@MuddyPigg
@MuddyPigg Жыл бұрын
@@patch93410 I only see my dermatologist once a year but I have an appointment with one of the nurses every 3 months, but that's mainly because of my blood and urine tests I have to do regularly. Since the meds can mess up your liver and kidneys.
@MuddyPigg
@MuddyPigg Жыл бұрын
@@patch93410 I've been on that, you have to get weekly blood and urine tests for a couple of months and then monthly if your results are good. You take the pills once a week and folic acid for the rest of the week. It can give you a lot of stomach issues like diarrhea and gas. That's why they start you off with a low dose to try and minimise the gut issues. You can also get other drugs. I'm on Skilarence since Methotrexate kept messing up my liver enzymes. Methotrexate can be picked up at any pharmacy but mine I have to pick up at the hospital.
@MuddyPigg
@MuddyPigg Жыл бұрын
@@patch93410 I'm about 90% clear. I've been plateaued for a while. I have developed new patches recently but I've been told that since the majority of it has cleared I should remain on it. For me methotrexate sucked. Since you take a bunch of pills in one go it can cause a bunch of bowel issues. Exhaustion, headaches ect. Skilarence just gave me hot flushes and I realised early on why they tell you to have it with food. It gives you a seriously upset stomach and diarrhea. It wakes you up from a dead sleep type of pain. It doesn't have to be a big meal, a sandwich is probably the smallest meal I've gotten away with, but don't drink a lot of water with it. You take Skilarence daily, I take the max, 2 pills 3x a day. It took a few months to get to that level.

@@patch93410 Basically she thinks going gluten free will cure psoriasis. Cyclosporine is another drug, however it has a few more side affects that can be dangerous. High blood pressure, possible kidney damage, increased risk of skin cancer.

I have something called dyshidrosis. It's super uncomfortable and looks really nasty up close. It's these little clear blister looking things that itch so bad it drives me crazy. It can form on fingers, palms, and the bottoms feet. Strangely, dipping my hands in apple cider vinegar when it starts it will start to dry out which causes skin cracking and bleeding. However, I suspect my condition is easier to deal with than psoriasis mainly because it's basically contained to the hands and sometimes feet. Most people don't notice my hands whereas psoriasis can be more painful and visible.

Not going to lie my father had it worse than that a few years ago .. he was hospitalised as it covered 95% or his body .. he was at St Andrews London .. they put him on the injection and it soon cleared .. it’s still present on him but nothing like it was .. his whole body looked like fish scales .. I’d never ever seen it so bad on him in 30 years

My uncle had this, it started when he was 18. It was so debilitating for him he never got to work again(he used to work for my grandfather) and take care of his 3 kids, his wife also passed away after their 3rd child was born so his other siblings had to adopt his children. His psoriasis was worse, he can barely walk and he was red all over, even his fingers crack. Also there is this rotting smell from him, you'll also see blood and plasma on his shirt. Sadly he died last 2017 without being properly treated.
