what makes Levi's decision is even more heart-shattering is not only because he sees a future in Armin's eyes, but how he decides it's time to let his best friend rest.
@roberthorne95979 ай бұрын
but also kenny's comment on all his life being lensed through the view of power, and how they all seek it... yet Erwin only seeked the truth, which is what Armin seeks, so Armin both fulfils Erwin's mission, and is not seeking power... These are the people never Kenny never met, the ones he surrounded himself with, the ones that have in Levy's eyes so far corrupted humanity and caused the intolerant loss of lives we have witnessed, and not only has he witnessed it, he took part in their sacrifice, he stands on their pile of bodies responsible for their lives, their sacrifice. So Levi with this choice fulfills Kenny's wish for a better life for Levy ~'I'm not a father'~, saves the one who will eventually lead them with morality (instead of looking for power at all cost to use it... ARMIN is not a dumb kid when given the power of the colossal titan, he still commits heinous acts, but would he do what a dumb kid who got hold of power do? No, he would search for the sea... for life.) so that this insane world could somehow not raise another Kenny out of Levy's uncle, and by extension not raise someone like Levy himself, instead the happy kids he returned to when Historia punched him, including Armin who had to live. It's almost like someone planned it, so a hero could be established, which means that memory-planting/time-travelling/titan&eldian-controlling/non-Ackerman-controlling Eren somehow engineered this situation over time by selecting Kenny to be the kings guard, showing him real power, giving him "higher purposes" all in eren's direction... Setting up Levy too... All because his mind control could not work on the Ackermans.... To have to make this choice, so that Eren could save the only person that would promise to share his "burden" in hell, Armin. God, Eren is straight up sooo evil, I better pick up my next joint!

Kenny's line connects both Erwin and Armin in different perspectives, Erwin was bound with his duties and responsibilities he holds as the commander,it's been tough on his life, he had to keep humanity's victory in the front except anything else and like he's burdened by this huge responsibility, he's become a man who had sacrificed his own freedom for the betterment of humanity... On the other hand Armin's dream was to venture outside the walls, to explore seas, deserts, lands covered in snow, to have the freedom. There's one who had sacrificed his freedom and another who strives for freedom. Levi chooses the latter, this decision was based more on emotions rather than logically based. .. “If you begin to regret, you'll dull your future decisions and let others make your choices for you. All that's left for you then is to die. Nobody can foretell the outcome. Each decision you make holds meaning only by affecting your next decision.” - Erwin Smith. Levi made the choice for Erwin to give up on his dreams and die when presented with the opportunity to bring him back I think the weight of those words factored in too.

The thing i adore about AOT is the fact that every single character has their own special moment to make the audience feel close to them even if they're short but those details and scenes are so precious showered with the realistic feeling of human beings that you won't forget them ( unlike some other shows that you would just forget about the every side characters like in next 5 mins and you wouldn't feel that much if they're not handsome or beautiful or generally young ! Let's be honest there are a lot of shows who don't give a damn about their side characters feelings and just make them look good so they would catch your eyes and that would be the only reason that makes us remember their names and think about them ) I can name a few of shows that even the main characters have no deep shit except for their looks when they smile with teary sorrowful eyes while they take their last breath ... It happens even in some of great shows ( i'm talking about weak side characters ) They're all like ⤵️ Good looks + tragic past ( maybe with the spice of some traumatic experience ) + painful death + being bullied for no reason OR being called a weirdo :| You hardly feel or see anything emotional or deep from them tho lots of them have great potentials to become a great character ... I'm sorry if you wasted your time reading this , i just got excited thinking about Marlo , Moblit and so many other ones ... I'm just gonna add this then close my mouth lol ♡ another thing i love about aot is how you can see the whole situation from every single one of characters and understand them for doing what they had done so there is no specific Villain BUT those scared pussies who are hiding behind their Government giving themselves titles thinking their lives and wealths are more important than the others so it's easy for them to start a war anytime and whenever they feel afraid of losing their sits and shits they rather to sacrifice others lives and make eveeyone a victim of war instead of losing their place , wealth , title and etc ... In this show you can clearly see the power of politicians and religions and how everyone are a victim that can't be judged . There is no good or bad people . They're really well shown as real human beings with emotions just like us . We could do even worse stuff if we were in their shoes trying to survive , avenge or anything ... Okay now imma stop overtalking ( again and again ) and just walk away knowing no one cares about my long ass comments lmao 😂💙

Levi realized that Erwin was only interested in proving his father theory that humans are still living outside the wall. If Erwin would be saved right there, after they discovered it Erwin would lose all of his drive to push forward. Armin on another hand wasn't driven by some selfish desire to prove anything, he just wanted to live in free world and in long run, it is better to have someone like that in your team. We also need to add the fact that Erwin deserved rest, Erwin did a lot of things that were eating him inside, like his commands that caused hundreds of people to die. Levi just wanted to give him proper rest from this fight, especially after Erwin already gave up on his dream and decided to rush to his death to kill the Beast titan.

When the music comes in loud when Armin emerges from the titan its like a huge sense of relief and grief for what just happened. It's letting Erwin and the past go then mowing forward with Armin to the future. Definitely one of the most well written pieces of media out there. The next few episodes are also incredibly crazy in their own ways. It's turning the key to a puzzle that been unsolved for years.

Two things I noticed in this episode Bertholt dies the same way Marco did, calling for his friends as he's devoured by a titan Levi's first scene is him talking to a dying guy, when he finishes Petra informs him that he's already dead. This scene has Levi talking to a dying Erwin, Hange informs him he's already dead Edit : Also,in season 2 Bertholt says someone will have to stain their hands with his blood. The shot pans to Armin, foreshadowing that Armin will be the one to kill him Link at 3:17 : kzbin.info/www/bejne/sJXKqoefop6mg9E

S3 just has so many good episodes its hard to say lol. Perfect Game, Hero, Midnight Sun, That Day are all legendary and its hard to pick from them. It depends on what you are looking for: Peak Character Pay off - Perfect Game Peak Animation and Fights - Hero Peak Emotion - Midnight Sun Peak Mindblowing Plot Twist - That Day I think for me on first watch Midnight Sun was the best due to the emotion. Hero is the best for just watching pieces or clips over and over because animation fights just having so much replay value. Perfect Game has the best retrospective value on rewatches because the magnitude of what happens holds greater importance than what happens in Hero due to the decision in Midnight Sun. The best episode for the story is probably actually That Day though as that leads into S4 and S4 is what pushes this series from S tier to The GOAT.
