This song was written about her parents and her grandparents. They shot the video shortly after her grandmother died with Parkinson's. The pain on their faces is raw. I love Nova and Tom mainly because of their genuine songs and the vulnerability they show. Real songs about real people, real emotions and real consequences. Thank you for the awesome reaction. #HOG4EVER

This is Nova’s tribute to her family. Just 2 days after recording the song, Nova got a call that her grandmother, who had Parkinson’s, had died of a heart attack. Just a week after grandma’s death, they made this video. The emotional pain is real and easily felt. She made this video before the rona shutdown, sitting on it for over a year. I’m so glad she finally released it. #hangovergang for Nova 🤘🏻🤘🏿🤘🏼🤘🏽

Yes, about her family, her mom left her dad, her dad was a part time musician, her Grandma had Parkinsons, this was written but her Grandma died soon after, Nova didn't release the song for a year after. Nova now has a relationship with both her parents. #NovaRockafeller #HOG UK

I'm so sorry for your loss, Joe E. I lost my father a couple of years ago and he left a very big hole in my heart. This song is about Nova's family. The first verse is about her uncle, mother and father. The second verse tells the story of both sets of grandparents. Nova lost one of her grandmothers to Parkinson's right around the time she was shooting this video so the emotions and tears are real. 💔 #NovaRockafeller #HangOverGang

#HOGarmy This is about her grandparents and her parents. Novas grandparents have passed, and her g-ma actually passed while she was filming this video. Her dad us still alive, but has some sort of terminal illness. He was in the beginning of Tom's video "I Wish". He was the one who said, "I wish I wasnt sick". Nova doesn't speak about her mom, so I've always assumed she has passed.

I lost my dad 6 years ago to lung cancer at 62. I spent the last 93 days of his life in an ICU room holding his hand. My mom was back at home in another state fighting breast cancer. I thank god she was with me when he passed. It still feels like yesterday!! Your story about your dad just broke my heart all over again. I am so very sorry for your loss. I thank God I was blessed with great supportive parents that always had my back. So many do not!! I shared my dad with many friends that did not. Music is my daily down time & reflection of wonderful memories. Thank you for being strong enough to share such hard and personal memories. It is heartbreaking, but also helps me with my daily nightmare of waking up realizing I will not talk to him.

I understand what you are going through man. I lost my father 15 years ago, and it is still a pain I carry. The one thing I will say is to this day, I still remember a dream I had a few months after he passed, vivid as real life. My father told me he was proud of me, to carry on, and to live a life of integrity. Those are words I carry with me to this day. I have no doubt he visited me in that dream, and watches over me still.

I remember when my Dad took not well unexpectedly and when we were told he was going to die I just remember whispering to him that he didn’t need to fight anymore, everyone was here and if he wanted he could go. Thanks for sharing. Loss is so hard, and grief for everyone is different. I became a widow with a 2 yr old at the age of 21. Hardest thing I had to face. Followed by hard losses over the years. Time helps but it never fully goes away. The pain lying dormant to surface when we least expect it. Music is my therapy. I don't know where I would be without it! Life is precious and too short! ❤️🤟

You have a beautiful heart, Joe. I so enjoy your reactions.❤ I know your Pops is so damn proud of you.❤ I still have 3 of my 4 parents. 2011 was a devastating year for me but even more so for my mom. My Step-dad passed away from stage 4 lung cancer. He didn't tell us he had it. He didn't want to do the treatments. We didn't find out til a few days before he died. Then, 9 months later, my baby sister died at 24 from an accidental overdose. And 3 weeks after that, my maternal grandmother passed away. My husband was deployed that year so I was taking care if our kids alone. I couldn't (well didn't allow myself to) grieve because I had to be strong for my mom, who was absolutely falling apart. So now, i have something called Delayed Grief, where now, I'm just stuck in grief because I didn't learn how to do it freely. My sister's anniversary just passed on 12/11. Christmas is always so hard for me but I know that the only way she truly dies is if I let her memory die. Always tell those you love how you feel because you just never know.❤ All of that to say this, I'm sorry you lost your dad. Truly. Talk about him to anyone that will listen and he'll live on forever.❤ Merry Christmas to you and the fam.❤💚🤍

I get you and I understand. Lost my mom when I was 6 she died in front of me and my 2 older sisters. My dad raised us as best he could. Then 7 years later he decided to marry a woman who flat out told me and my middle sister she wanted to be married just didn't want anymore kids. So over the years that situation made for strained relationship and 5 years before my dad died I just cut all ties. I did get to go see him when he was sick but I will never forgive myself for not telling what this song says. Please forgive the guilt later is an awful thing

Dont want to open up, but the words you said in the reaction.... When my daughter born ( broke up girlfriend )....I quit tech school/college to go work in a meat packing plant and as a waiter/bartender. I use this song as a selfish uplift for myself. Think my kiddo is starting to understand the past/hardships at 34. Took her mom to court twice...visits 4 hours her place every two weeks, next at age 5 for weekends. Used to drive 2 hours down, 2 hours back on friday and again sunday. Never thought I'd be in her life....but destination wedding in Jamaica, got to walk her down the beach....funny/sad thing her mom who made life so difficult didnt show!....Gotta great relationship with my squirt and she loves me!!! From west coast Canada 🇨🇦, peace.

Parkinson's - Grandma Guitarist - Terry Paholek her dad Carpet - brother Deadbeat dad - Grandfather Infidelity - innapropiate to assume who it is but I think I know Motorcycle death - uncle???? Backstory: Nova hadn't seen her entire family at one place for 10 years, she missed them, and wanted to pay tribute and say I missed you through this track. She sat on this track for a year because she was intimidated as to what her fans would think of her new music. After encouragement from Tom and the fan base she decided to make a video and 2 days before the shoot she found out her grandmother died from a heart attack. Tom wanted to cancel the shoot, and Nova wanted her true emotions to come out. If you see a YT short of them dancing in front of a changing room at a store, Tom is doing his best to give her cheers while she is going through her emotional pain. I'm sure she knew he was the one, but shortly after that is when she put the pressure on him to propose, and she asked H.O.G. fanbase to put the pressure on. After a health event Nova had, the discussion stopped for some reason. See how these stories steamroll?

I almost never watch this video, because I can't afford the emotions it brings up in me. I made an exception for you. I'm sorry to hear about your father. It's ok to mourn and get emotional with certain songs. Novas Dad is still alive but someone else from her family died shortly before the video shot (I can't remember who, maybe a grandparent). My dad passed away about 10 years ago. I don't think about it often but I still have moments wear a overwhelming sadness crashes over me without a warning. I can't even think about losing my mom, who's over 80. She's the only person who cares about me. Great... Now I'm crying. I know why I'm usually avoiding this song.

I’m pretty sure she opens the song talking about a brother. Then goes right into her mother being the cheater. Then to her father giving up his possible music career. I know the Parkinson disease is about her grandmother whom passed away just days before this video was recorded. Then I think she is referring to her grandfather that died regretting not knowing his daughter, on his deathbed. I’m not sure if it was her father that died in the crash or if she went to maybe a step father. I thought her mother passed away and her father was still living. Somebody please correct me if I am mistaken. Either way this has always been my favorite song of Nova’s. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. 💔❤️‍🔥

I wanted to send this in a DM but I did not see any links to your socials. I can say, beyond any doubt in my mind, that your dad knows how you feel. How do I know this - from personal experience. My father had surgery on the first Saturday of November, 2001. The Friday night before, I was uneasy. Saturday night, I had a dream that shook me to the core. My great grandfather (my father’s favorite person in the world - he passed in 1968), gave me a message in my sleep. He told me my father was going to die and that Carol, his wife, needed me to help her understand. On Sunday, my dad woke from a nap, in the hospital, and told Carol that he saw a bald-headed man coming to greet him and he did not know what to think, especially since this bald headed man looked so very familiar - he was not close enough for my father to recognize him. The first thing I did when I woke from my dream, was to catch a flight from Wisconsin to Oregon. Flying right after 9/11 was nearly impossible but it was the easiest flight I have ever arranged. I got to Oregon early Monday morning, knowing that my dad had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and passed away on Sunday. Carol was severely distraught and talking about self-deletion. I spent a lot of time talking with her and I told her that my dad’s favorite person in the world was there to help him make that transition. She told me how my dad had described this man, I knew who it was and, somehow, I had his picture in my wallet. She looked at it and said he looked exactly as my dad had described him. I stressed over not being there for my father before he left. Anyway, 6 months later, I had some significant abdominal surgery. A few days later, I was heading south and the doctors were not sure what was wrong. When I was at my lowest point, I heard my father saying: “I’m sorry I have been around but Carol needs me more. You know where I am and right now, I’m here for you. You need to know that it will be ok and you will make it through.” The next day, the doctors were flabbergasted at how I was recovering. I was there for Carol when my father needed me to be. He was there for me when I desperately need him to be. I promise you, your father knows whats in your heart. #hangovergang is more than an army, we are family. 🙏🙏🙏
