Yeah,back in the vietnam war era people who wanted to go into war and uh...get killed was kinda drying up so the government had a genius idea Let’s put it to fate and they started this lottery thing where they would draw a lot of birthday at random then every young men fit enough to serve born on those day would have to be drafted and sent to the war

@@taithangcong4704 also don't forget how the draft was specifically targeted at people with low incomes, if you were in collage or other work related reasons you were not picked but low income people just had luck to hold on to

Tai Thang Cong no the draft was there since world war 2 i believe and most people who joined enlisted during vietnam

Because people didn’t want to enlist, and the government needed more man power in Vietnam, so the American government deployed a system in which a guy got some tickets in a bowl, for example, everyone born between January 1st 1939 to December 31st 1950 were drafted.
