Nicky's reaction to how Jack died...a hero saving the people he loved... so freaking heartbreaking. I think people understate the love and admiration the younger child has for the older child. It's not just that they're siblings... even if they piss you off 24/7 like mine or if you love eachother like they did... they're your big brother. They're supposed to be there to help you, piss you off, be better than you... just be there. It's crazy how much you look up to them without even realizing

Nicky’s face when he found out his how big brother died and the fact he never got to make up with him and telling him how sorry he was he disappointed him it breaks my freaking heart! Then to know he was going to try to end his own life so he could be with his big brother again

I know he was messed up by the war, and that it was all an accident but he was with a child on a boat with hand grenades. Nothing good could ever come out of that! Nicky is a complex character in the sense that I don’t know how to feel about him. But, I do feel bad ‘cause of the thing between him and jack. Nicky didn’t deserve that. He payed, and is in a way, still paying for the thing he did back in Vietnam. I guess it’s just that I don’t understand what it’s like being in an active war zone and the effect it can have on the brain. Which is why I can’t understand Nicky all that well . What I really want to know about is Beth’s past. Her story. She to me is one of the coolest characters on the show. If there are any theories out there and you wish to share them, please do!

I read alot that people feel like it was terrible of jack to let nicky be. But Jack had tried so much in Vietnam, but Nicky kept pushing him away. And even later in Nicky’s trailer Jack tried before leaving but Nicki kept telling him to go. (I think feeling he now got new family to take care of?) Also I think this is the part where Jack starts drinking, because of all of this. And we don’t know, maybe later they did get in touch.. jack did go boxing to stay sober and deal with the war. He said he used to do that boxing with his brother, so maybe then again. I’m sooo curious about Beth too. Love her! But I’m a little anxious remember how she mentioned previous episode that when she and randall started dating, she freaked out and cried because a lady was wearing the same cologne or something as her father? It doesn’t sit well with me especially with Zoe’s story with her dad. Quite the rant I got here haha.

Oh and anybody else get a little bit antsy with HOW MUCH Nicky smokes? It’s been bothering me ever since this character got introduced. It shows his addict tendencies ofc but geez..

Yeah, I mean I think it's so sadly human. We do things and we neverrr expect the worst of the worst to happen until it does and then you can't take it back and you're destroyed for life in Nicky's case. It really does break my heart that Jack... someone who loved his family more than anything and no matter what would turn on his brother without giving him the chance to explain. I understand he left him that day cause he had a family that he had to take care of... but before that, I don't know.... the Jack we all know wouldn't have given up on ANYONE

There isn’t a memory I don’t have growing up that doesn’t have my big sister in it. We celebrated our birthdays together (she’s Nov 2 and I’m Nov 18). We argued, we fought, we borrowed each other’s clothes without asking. We’d make inside jokes that would make my mom mad lol. She was my whole best friend. She taught me so much. She fought a girl that picked on me and the day her ex broke it off she was devastated. And seeing her in so much pain made me cry. You don’t realize just how much effect having a sibling can be.

This changed my perspective of Jack and not in a good way; he wouldn’t even hear Nick out; that what happened in Nam was a very tragic accident.

Jack refused to go see his dying father too. Granted the old guy was a turd, but Jack still should have went and seen him and given him a chance to say he was sorry to ease his conscience since he was dying.

I wonder why you watched this clip if you feel that way? However, You are missing a great drama series (not a sitcom which I assume you prefer from your comment) but you need to start with the first episode to understand what is going on. Yes good things happen too. Just like real life, both good and bad happens. It is a very well written story of a family told in pieces that jumps around in time, giving you tiny pieces of the puzzle here and there.
