Happy New Year Mr Davis! Thank you for this very thoughtful and inspirational video. So, here are my goalss for 2024. 1. Eat healthier and get in shape. It's about time to do so. As for my body, so for my soul. 2. Educate myself more. Focusing a bit more on business skills. But never losing interest in other topics of general knowledge. 3. Playing drums more often. Idealy every day! Even for 30 minutes. 2023 was the year that drum playing/practice was in free fall. I just love the drums and I am at peace when I get to play. I need to take care of that. 4. Enjoy family time even more. Childern are growing. Parents are aging. Our family memories are the only heritage we can keep forever. And they should be pleasant, fulfilling and full of love. Once again, have a happy new year! I am looking forward for your next video. Take care!

Im now open to being open! I want to explore that: 3. Get back to posting and 4. Practicing (drums and bass) 5. Be more involved in the drum community, locally here in TO, and online. I wish you all the success bro. You're a really great communicator and educator; you ALWAYS inspire. Thank you for sharing man!

Happy new year to you Quincy ! ! Wishing you the most always. Like you, everyday gratitude is one of my goals - alongside making reading part of my practice routine and close listening to song form. Away from the instrument my day job is narrating audiobooks and I want to start working in other genres of voice work. Thanks again for all you gave us in 2023, can't overstate how valuable and nourishing your content is not just for the hands and feet but also for the soul✌🏼

Hello Quincy, and happy new year! Thank you for all that you do, in every video you do I can see your gratitude, thank you for that! As of jazz insights, advices and guidance, you have been like a mentor since I started following you on youtube, and I can tell you that I try to watch every video you upload! I also have almost all the content from your online store! Even If I don't utilise it all, I can tell you that I played along the 30' blues workout probably 150 times last year if not more! Anyways, THANKS to you! I will share with you my goals: 1.- Stay fit (Stretching and sport). 2.- Working on my personal music projects (EDM and Jazz). 3.- Improve my musicianship (Drumming and composition). 4.- Improve my mixing and mastering skills.

Very wise words, Q! I have already started phone calls with people I am sadly delinquent speaking with. Average call length has been 2.5 hours😮 I am determined to get both my Jazz and Rock uptempo playing clean, consistent and feeling good. Also want to learn to play favorite rhythms much cleaner. (Also just started reading the autobiography, Sideman. In pursuit of the next gig by the amazing multi instrumentalist Mark Rivera).

Happy New Year, Quincy! I want you to know that your videos have been instrumental (hah!) in getting me back into the drums in 2023 after many years of inactivity. I've now got my "studio" set up the way I like it and sitting down to play is easy and fun. My goals for this year are to improve my groove, and to add some Latin flavors to my playing. I've set up a left foot clave pedal for the first time so will be playing with that!

One of my goals is to improve the way I move at the drums, so I'm going to work through Joe Morello's Master Studies. This is something I actually started a while ago, but I would like to make it a main focus for the coming year. I plan to start slowly and work through the main exercises while remaining as relaxed as possible. I don't expect to get all the way through the book, as it is an open-ended tool, but I would like to gain a working understanding of the different stroke types to improve my ability to analyze how I move at the drum kit.
@drumqtips11 ай бұрын
Move the way you want to play. Conversely, play the way you want to move. Keep me posted!

Every day, every week, every moment is a New Year. Oops! Did you hear that? A New Year just happened. Just like that. As drummers, we know that a new beat is not different than an old one, just an opportunity for a new interpretation. I don't make resolutions or really even observe the New Year as anything meaningful because I try not to let all those other New Years go to waste!
