Amy is the best character in battle because of one thing… “Just wait a minute!” It stops you for 20 whole seconds and you still move so you can fall into pits and get hit by enemies also city escape is her best map, and she only needs half the amount of rings for her abilities and storm of hearts is great on some maps and can completely screw your opponent over but she’s slower than the other characters and they can easily catch up, especially when checkpoint cheating (when another player grabs a checkpoint and the other player dies to spawn there to catch up) and also when your time frozen you can mash out for the timer to run out faster

Metal Sonic's shield is a reflector. If you time it right when your opponent uses a special attack, you can hit them with it. Metal Sonic is also the fastest of the speed characters, but cannot use special attacks.

Fun fact, holding up while frozen with Chaos Control and other similar moves will speed up the timer. Further info: special moves are granted to all characters, save Metal Sonic and Amy, every 20 rings you collect. Sonic and Shadow are identical. Metal gets a shield that lets him avoid the otherwise unavoidable attacks like Chaos Spear, is both faster and has worse brakes, but has no special moves. Amy is slower, but gains her abilities every ten rings. Tails and Eggman are identical. The Dark Chao Walker is slower but deals more damage, regular is faster but deals less. Knuckles and Rouge are identical. Tikal is faster but has the shortest punch range, while Chaos is slower but has the longest.

6:45 - 7:05: To that conversation, Frontiers is a Boost Era game, as most of it's mechanics are here and accounted for in that game. The Adventure style was used from SA1 to the infamous Sonic '06, but the appeal and the very idea of the Adventure formula (the multiple campaigns, extra playable characters, etc.) was killed by how horrible '06 turned out.

To drift in Kart Racing is weird, like you first have to speed up with A and after a while you let go of A (EDIT: this is the normal "mode", where you kind of go straight) and then press A again while moving the stick to the side and that activates the "drift" mode (EDIT: more than drifting like Mario Kart, you're just able to take curves better but it's hard to control, also I think you go faster if you oscillate but again, hard to control).

7:28 I mean, I don’t know the tier list but I do remember Amy being the worst in that mini game since she was the slowest but she could get her super earlier. Also, Metal Sonic’s chaos shield can defend against Chaos spears and Sonic winds.

Amy is the best Speed character. She stops you for 20 seconds instead of 10 and you aren't invincible during it. She also needs half as many rings to do it. Metal Sonic has the speed boost active at all times and his shield can stop damage from Sonic Wind and Chaos Spear.

Collecting rings in every mode grants abilities at each multiple of 20 (10 for Amy, N/A for Metal Sonic). Respawning also grants an ability. Chaos Control freezes everything--not just your opponent--for different lengths of time depending on how far behind the user is. Amy's version of Chaos Control is particularly powerful because it always lasts for the maximum duration, and it disables the opponent's input rather than stopping time (they can still hold up to speed up the timer). This means that stopped opponents can still be attacked by non-player enemies and will keep their momentum for a while, often resulting in failing a jump or getting shot down and having to respawn at a checkpoint. Metal Sonic has to try to lose a grinding race. I don't often use "broken" to describe character balance, but I would expect him to win on Sky Rail and the Pyramid grind race every time. You can dig to escape "Black Wave" and similar moves in the hunting games.

Also Sonic Riders or SASRT or far better multiplayer sonic game experiences than this half hearted attempt at a multiplayer versus mode for a sonic game. Sonic adventure games have not aged well at all while a boost game like unleashed has. Guess this serves no purpose asa comment at the end but honestly Sa2 level design is not that great and you can't even break it like frontiers wikth homing boost and spindash. SA2 speedrunning is top tier and physics are probably the best in the series but none of this was utilized in meaningful ways where in SA1 for the most part its physics and movement systems were fully utilized aside from maybe amy cause amy has quake physics for some reason in SA1?

Amy best speed character cause she can stop you for 2 minutes and time does not stop you from moving during this and by this i mean you get frozen in place but not your character so you have no control if you fall off a cliff during this etc. Best treasure hunting characters are tikal and chaos Best mech is tails mach 2 bescause he way too fast its like cactuar from mario sports mix Best kart racer does not exist beyond player one and like eggman or something because spamming the stick to drift just allows you to speed up to higher speeds than max speed and retain the speed up boost from the ring collecting and port priority exists

In kart racing, you enter drift mode by letting go of the drive button and holding it again when you're still at top speed, and yes that's extremely unintuitive and I hate it
