The lack of quantization, time corrections, and punching in is much appreciated. It makes the performance more human and listenable, like we’re in the same room. More real. That was beautiful. Thank you

I made almost exactly the same comment. In this era where so much of what we watch and listen to is very artificial/manufactured, it's refreshing to watch a very good musician perform without any "brush up." This is what listening to music was like for hundreds of years. But for some reason the standard is now perfection or it's seen as "unprofessional." I swear, people make things perfect not because they actually think it sounds better but because everyone else is doing it. They think they have to. I've been arguing that we should resist that impulse for years. But people act like I'm just some old man shaking my fist at the clouds. I can't believe people think "CGI music," which is what I call it, sounds better.

@@PiePlayzBASS I'm pretty sure Charles isn't old enough for that. Over ten thousand is likely, though. The best musicians I personally know (two of them) practice in the range of 5h per day. 10,000 hours of practice is very achievable at that rate. Anyway, my point was simply that buying the best gear won't make you sound great without actually having great technique. I'm only a "Rec League" level musician, and that's simply because I don't spend the amount of time required to be good at it.

While your more edited videos technically sound "better," I have a deeper appreciation for this. Nowadays, so much of what we're exposed to amounts to clever trickery. We see videos of musicians performing "live" that are stitched together from multiple takes. We hear albums where everything is quantized and pitch corrected. We see photos that are airbrushed or photoshopped or enhanced with AI. We watch movies with all kinds of hidden CGI. And no one seems to question the need for this stuff. It's just seen as "professional." But what's wrong with a little imperfection and humanity? Until the year 2000 or so, most of our art was analog. This meant complex editing was difficult if not impossible. So the artist did it as well as they could on the third or 10th try, and that was that. Mistakes were left in. But so what? If anything, it made us connect with the art more. Because we were aware we were listening to a performance, not something carefully constructed using software.
