Congratulations. Even rarer than the Cassowary you captured 2 cassowary chicks at 6:36. They have brown and white stripes to blend in with the dead leaves on the rainforest floor.👍

When you're visiting The Atherton Tablelands, there's a couple of food places I'd like to recommend in Atherton. Both of them may seem expensive at first, but they have generous servings. L & B's Fish And Chips have a great variety of food. Not just fish and chips, there are burgers, including our beloved burgers with the lot. If you're dining in, I'd recommend sharing one between the two of you adults. Their small servings of chips will also be big enough to share. Just last night, we got some food from there to take away. (You can only dine in during the day.) It was packed full of people waiting to collect their orders. I met an Aussie man who lives in America and his mum. She'd never had one of those hamburgers, but she believed me about their size. She said that that small serving of chips was more than enough for her husband and herself. Don't forget to try some of their fresh homemade cakes. To be continued in a second comment.

Well, I live in N.Q. too, and glad to see you guys getting out onto the beach etc with an umbrella. Thats the spirit. Good on you. Cool you came across a cassowary! The highway is cut off south of Proserpine due to all the rain weve had, (written Sat afternoon), but you prob already know re travelling south. Take care on the roads and look out for potholes after all the rain - slow down a bit cause we do get them in the crappy roads up here, especially in the wet. Looking forward to your next vid. Ps You must get sick of recommendations, but if you do end up going to the Atherton Tablelands, just a reminder re Lake Eacham - just beautiful - and the Cathedral Fig Tree is quite impressive. (Not to be confused with the Curtain Fig Tree).

Then there's Luisun Pizza, which is owned by an Italian family who makes authentic pizzas. The mama makes the pizzas with a wood fired oven, and the daughter takes the orders. They're only open during the evenings, except for Mondays. They're the size of American pizzas. One pizza could be at least enough to feed your family. When you get back to Cairns, Babba's Chicken has to be some of the best I've ever eaten. A Bosnian lady named Nardia has been running it since the early 70s. The chicken is slow cooked over a carcoal barbecue pit for 2 hours. I once saw her cut up a chicken, and the juice literally poured out of it. Be sure to get it with chips, vegetables, and her incredible gravy.

Hello again. For a good kid friendly place to visit in Atherton, try The Crystal Caves (it's a business). With fake caves to explore and learn about crystals and other interesting things. There are also other things to buy, and if you want to, there are geodes that can be cracked. I lived in Brisbane until I was 13, when my mum and I moved to Atherton, where grandma lived. We used to visit grandma during the summer school holidays. The Crystal Caves were definitely a childhood favourite of mine.

Love the cassowary, closest living relative to a raptor and we call them "living fossils" as their claws and talon are almost identical to fossils of velociraptors, and like their long-lost Cuzzies, they are also extremely dangerous!!!

@@TheWickmansLife2024 Maybe Lady Elliot Island, Lady Musgrave Island or Heron Island on the southern Great Barrier Reef? All 3 are true coral cays. Research any cheap boats or flights from Agnes Water, Bundaberg. Camping only on Lady Musgrave but you might be able to do a day tour.

@@TheWickmansLife2024 Walkabout Creek in Brisbane has a tree kangaroo. It also has a platypus and freshwater crocodile behind glass. And a wombat, python and echidna. Decent coffee before 1 pm too when they start to close up. The kids might like the green luminous mushrooms where you can switch the light off to see them glow in the dark.
