This is exactly why I fucking love this channel!!!! I lift consistently at the gym & every time I go I look around at all the women doing cardio & say to myself ….WTF are all of you doing?!!!!

I'm sending a huge thank you, Guys. I'm 50 and fighting every mental distortion and bullshit advice women have been given over that time. Every day I have to pull myself up on these questions. Whenever I get the urge to cut calories or jump on my bike for endless cardio because the scale hasn't budged, I listen to you to calm my fire and stop myself. Thank you for the endless reminders, some of us need them more than others🙏❤️

So I went from 126 the beginning of October to 136 today. I’ve been eating 2900 calories everyday. Trying to get at least 150g of protein. My gains have been amazing. I’m aiming to get to 165-170 then do a cut to I can be shredded. It’s a journey. It’s hard. But I love seeing the results. I thought I was gonna be 125 for the rest of my life. Btw I’m 35m and 5’9

That’s awesome man. I’m on a similar journey but started at 150 and am now at 158. Consistently getting the daily protein in is tough!

I’m a WPRA barrel racer and for years my only goal was to be as small as possible. I was maintaining at 1200 calories and running 20-25 miles a week. Long story short I couldn’t maintain it and went from 120 to 150 pounds. My grown boys got me lifting and listening to Mind Pump. I drank the kool aid and followed the good advice I heard, even doing my first bulk ever (super scary). Now I am in all my smallest clothes, but at 130 pounds instead of 120. I look and feel a ton better and don’t do any running any more. I maintain on 2200 calories at age 50. Trust the process!

I’m a 43 year old woman ( 5’10”) and I too recently went from barre and Pilates to traditional strength training. Increased my calories from probably 1600 to over 2000 per day. Mostly protein and fats on keto. I cannot believe the way I look and feel after only about 3 months. I don’t want to look at the scale because I know it will mess with me. But ultimately I prefer to be more muscular and healthy than 123 pounds.

Watch out for those doctor appointments where they weigh you and then tell you your BMI is too high. I just don’t let them weigh me any more especially since I only weigh myself in AM before I get dressed and eat breakfast and have a few cups of water.
@muscleNPmama

Next time that happens tell them the AMA no longer recommends bmi as a the preferred method of measuring cardio metabolic risk and they should check ur waist to hip ratio instead

Same here. I tell the nurse that I’m not weighing in like a heifer. If they want my waist measurement then that ok.

I’m having the same issue, I’ve been lifting heavy for almost a year now and my weight has stayed the same 157-159 I’m 5’5 but I can see the muscle coming through! the scale destroys my heart and my brains every time I see it because it feels as if I’m not making any progress. 🥺so many contradicting messages 😫

My personal advice.. fuck the scale, it’s just a number that’ll go up and down through the weeks and months.. If you see that you are getting stronger and leaner and are putting muscle on the scale should not matter. If you are trying to gain, up the calorie slightly. That scale will mentally torture you.
@EkinghFightNews

yea gaining muscle naturally is a slow process. takes time and probably has a delayed effect on.the scale. maybe worth trying the winter bulk if trying to gain

@@brandoncarroll9155 seriously it does especially as a woman who has always been concerned with my bmi and those type of “standards” . I’ve decided to not pay attention to the scale in the end because all it does is stress me out and stall my progress anyway. Thank you for the advice I appreciate it 🙏☺️

@@EkinghFightNews yes definitely, but I struggle with getting enough calories in, especially cus I meet my protein goal about 160 grams and I usually stay under 2000 calories. I wish o could eat more but at that point I would just be eating more carbs. 🤨I’m not sure if I should eat more carbs or more protein at this point 🧐

Thank you for this episode! I need to change my mindset I lift weights 5-6 times a week get in 10000 steps daily and wonder why I don’t see the definition I feel I should and can’t lose the belly. I track macros but think I am eating not enough - 1300 cal/day 120 protein, 54 years old 119lbs. It’s the scale and my mind that freaks me out about eating more - this episode hits home

I have gained 10 pounds since March of this year. (Part of that was I got breast implants) but I have gotten so strong since I got back to regular lifting ( it took a few months before I could properly lift again) I regained all muscle I lost and have skyrocketed in strength bc I committed myself to recovering my metabolism post surgery. I know I've gained some fat also, but I am so excited about all the new muscle. Seeing the scale go up is absolutely freaking me the hell out though. Former runner. I still run, just not near as much and I am actually eating to support muscle building. Cool to actually see changes and progress! But scary about the extra weight... I did have to stop weighing myself for a few months to permit myself to make this change. The scale would go up and I would restrict back down and this only made it so I was never getting stronger. EDIT: I've been lifting for 4 years and this year has been the most progress I've made. Not the most lean, but that will come.

Isn't 10,000 steps too much if you're trying to build muscle? Or is that amount of activity fine as long as you're not running/jogging the 10,000 steps.

How do you increase the calories that much ? I’m eating 2000 calories and I get so full from the protein, so do you increase the calories from protein or from carbs ? 🤔🤔 @mindpump

When they say one gram of protein per pound of body weight, that is wrong. It is one gram of protein per pound of lean body mass. Because you are not eating protein for the fat on your body. Only for the muscle

BECAUSE YOU’RE GAINING FAT!!!☺️☺️ do you really believe you’ll not gain fat by eating so much just because those 3 guys said so!! well… you’ll do!!😄😄

@@rickycarfan54 I'm at 2200 a day and I'm over 60. I'm thinking about increasing to 2300 and I'm only 5'5". So she could probably be eating more than that and she wouldn't gain fat. Not if she's lifting weights.
