Something worth noting: Cults can spawn basically anywhere, and can become prolific regardless of dogma because they fundamentally take advantage of people's inner vulnerabilities and fears. In most cases, when it comes to helping victims of cults, it's not about challenging a string of logic, but about showing them that it's time to seek professional help outside of the cult's sphere of influence.

Honestly if Superman really did exist in reality, I can see many people exploit his heroism by putting themselves in dangerous situations just to get saved in order to gain publicity and fame through social media, like online pranksters or streamers.

Metallo unironically saves hundreds of lives by beating up superman, and then leaves without killing him. Did Metallo just save all those people on purpose or on accident is now the question.

Now THAT'S a Superman story. That is a problem ONLY Superman would have, because no one believes in Batman that much. That is a problem that would only truly test Superman, because he's the only would that actually could possibly save them and still have a lot of trouble doing it.

@SebastienGendron-uk4po9 ай бұрын
I know right, I know it's wrong for Superman to do nothing while people purposefully throw their lives away, but he can't be everywhere at once and doesn't like to be thought of as a God. A small sadistic part of me would just let them fall and watch as the rest of the people who didn't jump in sync, look on in horror, and realize Superman is not someone to be exploited (a lesson that they had to learn the hard way).
@SuperSongbird219 ай бұрын
@@SebastienGendron-uk4po Pity Superman couldn't give a heads-up to 911 - if the cultists saw one of their number jump off the building but survive with massive injuries and have to be taken away in an ambulance I'm pretty sure they'd be a bit more willing to listen (especially if Supes used some variant of the "Even Im not fast enough to save all of you" excuse)
@SebastienGendron-uk4po9 ай бұрын
@SuperSongbird21 "Even I'm not fast enough to save all of you" excuse. Interestingly, Superman is fast enough to reach them but not skilled enough to slow down like the Flash, so he doesn't squish them like a bug. Superman is fast but he is technically not a speedster. That is the drawback of superheroes, they can't save everyone, and they are not omniscient and omnipresent to prioritize people that are worth saving (makes you wonder how many child molesters, despicable people, racists, etc were saved because a superhero that was conveniently nearby while an innocent person could be dying scared and alone). I wonder what a superhero would do if they were presented a choice between saving a bus filled with kids or a stunt double who knew the risks of his job but kept doing it anyway (will he still keep working after being saved or take it as a sign and choose a safer job). Obviously, the superhero is not going to roll the dice with one person who may or may not change.
@titan77899 ай бұрын
Wouldn't they just think: "the guy that jumped out just wasn't worthy to live!"?
@SuperSongbird219 ай бұрын
@titan7789 Not if he survived. That's possible, and once people realise that things aren't always one or the other they sometimes rethink things.

The very first sentence of the video is factually wrong. The Specter is a known hero and is the literal embodiment of DC’s god, the Presence’s, wrath. Also seeing how the Sandman is cannon in DC, and Lucifer is there, and also Lucifer has his own story, this means that God is there. In pre-new 52, some heroes literally go to heaven and talk with dead heroes.

I mean... Shazam literally has powers of Greek Gods. Wonder woman is directly related to them Shazam the Wizard's real name is Mamaragan and he's an Aboriginal god who lives in a puddle and speaks with thunder in his voice. There is Absolutely religion in the DC universe. And furthermore, it seems that the author of the comic is rather anti-religious and wanted to make a point about how religious people are stupid and blindly harmful to themselves.
@thehuntsman21129 ай бұрын
This comic alone just explained every house, every city-- and every other building that is still standing up in the name of God-- what religion is in a nutshell... and I keep giggling like the Joker over the thought of it.
