swimmers train like hell and swim like fishes everyday, just to cut milliseconds off their own records. Especially Olympians, they train for 4 years to either make histories or become one, there’s no in-between. The stresses they are bearing are just too much to imagine for recreational swimmers like us.

Per my research on Olympian Johnny Weissmuller, I recommend 1 pound of bacon and 1 dozen eggs daily (or per meal) for Olympic Gold Medal Swimmers. Weissmuller also ate a loaf of bread. I recommend whole grain millet and buckwheat groats boiled and served with real dairy butter and sweetened with raisins and/or honey and sprinkled with nuts/seeds. For potassium and magnesium drink coconut water and orange juice, and/or eat a fresh avocado. Drink a smoothie with kale and/or spinach powder and tart cherry concentrate and honey and frozen bananas with dry whole milk powder or a vegetable protein powder. Swiss cheese and Walnuts/Pecans/Pumpkin Seeds are also excellent. What you don't want to eat is a low fat and low protein diet with large amounts of complex carbs ( Been there, done that. My swimming performance crashed on that kind of diet). I don't swim anymore but I can still chow down like I used to when training. My current daily diet is 1.5 pounds of pork sausage and or 80/20 turkey or beef burger, 1 pound of swiss cheese, 1 pound of shelled nuts, plus fruits and veges and grains and extra virgin olive oil.
